Fakin Seafood Introduce
For residents of Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, the search for the perfect Nasi Lemak is a perennial quest, a culinary journey deeply ingrained in the local food culture. Amongst the countless stalls and restaurants, Fakin Seafood, specifically known for its legendary "Nasi Lemak Fakin" in the mornings, stands as a true icon in Taman Melati. This humble yet immensely popular spot has garnered a reputation for serving what many locals consider to be "Only THE best nasi lemak in all of KL!" While the name suggests seafood, the morning fame of Fakin Seafood undeniably rests on its unparalleled Nasi Lemak.
Nasi Lemak is more than just a dish; it's a national treasure, a symphony of fragrant coconut rice, spicy sambal, crispy ikan bilis (anchovies), roasted peanuts, a hard-boiled egg, and cucumber slices. Fakin Seafood elevates this beloved staple to an art form, attracting loyal customers who have been returning for over a decade. This article will take you through what makes Nasi Lemak Fakin at Fakin Seafood a must-try experience for anyone in Kuala Lumpur seeking an authentic and unforgettable breakfast or early lunch.
Location and Accessibility
Fakin Seafood is conveniently located in the vibrant and well-connected neighbourhood of Taman Melati, making it easily accessible for residents across Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. You can find this culinary gem at: Taman Melati, 53100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
While a precise street number for Fakin Seafood (specifically for the Nasi Lemak stall) isn't provided, its general location within Taman Melati is well-known among locals. Taman Melati is easily reachable via major roads and highways, and importantly, it is well-served by public transportation, including the Taman Melati LRT station. This makes it a highly convenient spot for early risers commuting by train or those driving from various parts of Kuala Lumpur. The popularity of the Nasi Lemak often means there's a bustling morning crowd, but as mentioned in reviews, the efficient service and the dedicated queue management (even with social distancing measures) ensure that wait times are manageable, typically 5-10 minutes. This accessibility allows locals to easily grab their favourite Nasi Lemak before work or on a leisurely morning.
Services Offered
Fakin Seafood, particularly during its famed morning Nasi Lemak hours, offers a streamlined yet highly effective service model focused on its signature dish:
-
Nasi Lemak Specialization: Their primary offering is freshly prepared Nasi Lemak, served piping hot and with generous portions of coconut rice and sambal.
-
Add-on Options: Customers can customize their Nasi Lemak with popular add-ons such as kerang (cockles), sotong (squid), and ayam rendang (rendang chicken), allowing for a more substantial and varied meal.
-
Efficient Takeaway Service: Given the typical morning queue, the staff (Kak Zah and her kids, as per reviews) are highly efficient in packing orders, ensuring quick service despite the crowd.
-
Early Morning Opening Hours: Catering to the breakfast crowd, the stall starts as early as 06:45 AM, making it perfect for early risers, commuters, and those starting their day early.
-
Consistent Quality: The longevity and popularity of the stall speak to its consistent quality and adherence to traditional recipes over many years.
-
Friendly Family-Run Operation: The presence of "Kak Zah and kids" suggests a warm, family-run business that fosters a sense of community and personal touch.
Features / Highlights
What makes Nasi Lemak Fakin at Fakin Seafood a standout and beloved spot in Kuala Lumpur are its distinctive features:
-
The Best Nasi Lemak in KL (as per reviews): This bold claim by loyal customers is a testament to the exceptional taste and quality, often attributed to the "piping hot rice with home squeezed santan" and "ikan bilis from Langkawi."
-
Generous Portions: Customers highlight the "very generous" amount of santan coconut rice and sambal, ensuring a satisfying and flavourful meal.
-
High-Quality Ingredients: The specific mention of "home squeezed santan" (coconut milk) and "ikan bilis from Langkawi" indicates a commitment to fresh, quality ingredients that truly make a difference in taste.
-
Delicious Sambal: The sambal is clearly a highlight, being both "generous" and integral to the dish's overall appeal. A good sambal is the heart of Nasi Lemak, and Fakin's seems to hit the mark.
-
Popular Add-ons: The availability of kerang, sotong, and ayam rendang allows for customization and caters to different preferences, enhancing the dining experience.
-
Efficient Queue Management: Despite the long queues (a hallmark of good food!), the efficient packing process and social distancing measures mentioned ensure that the wait is reasonable, making it accessible even on busy mornings.
-
Nostalgic Value: For long-time patrons, the enduring quality and the fact that it has been serving for 15 years evokes a sense of nostalgia and trust.
Promotions or Special Offers
As a traditional, high-demand food stall, Fakin Seafood (for its Nasi Lemak) typically relies on its consistent quality and reputation rather than overt promotional campaigns. However, the inherent "offers" to locals are significant:
-
Exceptional Value for Money: The fact that the same portion of Nasi Lemak was RM1.20 fifteen years ago and remains highly affordable today, even with slight price adjustments for add-ons (RM5 for kerang), signifies excellent value for a high-quality, authentic meal in KL.
-
Consistent Quality: The greatest "promotion" is the assurance of a consistently delicious and satisfying meal every time you visit, which builds strong customer loyalty.
-
Freshly Prepared Daily: Everything is made fresh daily, ensuring the highest quality and taste, which is a major draw for discerning foodies.
-
Variety of Add-ons at Reasonable Prices: The availability of optional extras like kerang, sotong, and ayam rendang at fair prices allows customers to enhance their meal without excessive cost.
It's unlikely they would run typical commercial promotions like discounts. Their "offer" is the consistent delivery of arguably the best Nasi Lemak in the city at a local-friendly price.
Contact Information
As a popular local food stall, direct contact information like a dedicated phone number for Fakin Seafood specific to its Nasi Lemak operations might not be widely publicised for general orders, as they focus on high-volume morning takeaways. Given the provided information, a general address for the Taman Melati area is available:
Address: Taman Melati, 53100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The best way to "contact" Fakin Seafood for their Nasi Lemak is to visit during their operating hours. Based on reviews, they "Starts as early as 0645 and finished by 0815H" (6:45 AM to 8:15 AM). It's a truly early bird gets the worm situation!

Fakin Seafood Reviews
Only THE best nasi lemak in all of KL! Piping hot rice with home squeezed santan and ikan bilis from Langkawi. Kak Zah and kids are a treasure that should be kept. Started eating 15 years ago when it was only RM1.20 for the same portion! Kerang +add RM5. They're very generous with the santan coconut rice & sambal! But prepare for a queue though (wait time approximately 5-10 mins) as they're at least 2 or more people packing. Starts as early as 0645 and finished by 0815H
Nov 09, 2022 · Adrian WongNasi Lemak Fakin (morning only) is now open, with slightly more offering than usual (sotong, ayam rendang). Queue may seem longer (around 7.45am) but that's due to social distancing (queue marks on the floor)
