Kelong Purple Inn Introduce
For locals in Selangor seeking a unique escape that combines the tranquility of the sea with the thrill of fishing, Kelong Purple Inn offers an interesting proposition. Located offshore from Kampung Telok Gong in Pelabuhan Klang, this kelong provides a distinctive experience, allowing visitors to spend a day or even a night out on a traditional offshore platform. It's a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts and groups of friends looking for a different kind of leisure activity, away from the typical urban bustle of Selangor. While it's important to set expectations for a rustic and authentic kelong experience, many find the simplicity and direct connection with nature to be a refreshing change.
A kelong, for those unfamiliar, is essentially an offshore platform, traditionally used for fishing or as a temporary dwelling for fishermen. Kelong Purple Inn embodies this concept, offering a basic yet functional setup for visitors. One of the appealing aspects for many is the opportunity to truly disconnect and immerse oneself in the activity of fishing. With the gentle sway of the ocean beneath you and the vast expanse of water around, it provides a sense of peace and solitude that is hard to find on land. This makes it an ideal spot for locals in Selangor who are looking for a short getaway that offers both relaxation and a bit of adventure.
Customer reviews paint a picture of a place with both its charms and areas for improvement. Some visitors have had "good experience here fishing with friends," appreciating the "clean place" and the convenience of having "stove and basic cookware if u want cook there." This self-catering option adds to the unique experience, allowing groups to cook their fresh catches or prepare their own meals, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared adventure. However, it's also noted that fishing success can depend on factors like "fast current," making it "very hard to get good fish" at times, with "mainly duri" (catfish) being common catches. This highlights the unpredictable nature of fishing, which is part of its charm and challenge.
While the allure of fishing and the unique setting are strong, it's also crucial for potential visitors from Selangor to be aware of certain aspects raised in reviews, particularly regarding facilities and safety. Comments like "No life jacket provided on boat. If needed must request from them. Leceh. Very dangerous if anything bad happen, ya even takes only 3-4 minutes from jeti to kelong. Safety is priority & must comes first" emphasize the importance of prioritizing personal safety and verifying provisions beforehand. Similarly, feedback on cleanliness, such as "Facilities kotor, dapur kotor, tandas super duper kotor," indicates a need for visitors to manage their expectations regarding hygiene standards on an offshore kelong and potentially plan accordingly. Despite these points, for many, the unique experience of being out at sea, the camaraderie, and the simple joy of fishing outweigh these concerns, making Kelong Purple Inn a notable spot for a distinct outdoor adventure in Selangor.
Kelong Purple Inn is situated offshore from Jalan Pengkalan Nelayan, Kampung Telok Gong, 42000 Pelabuhan Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. To reach the kelong itself, visitors typically embark on a short boat ride from a designated jetty in the Telok Gong area of Pelabuhan Klang. The journey from the jetty to the kelong is usually brief, reportedly taking only "3-4 minutes."
For locals in Selangor, Pelabuhan Klang is a well-known coastal area and port town, accessible via major road networks. From central Selangor areas like Shah Alam, Klang, Subang Jaya, or Petaling Jaya, Pelabuhan Klang can be reached using highways such as the Federal Highway, KESAS (Shah Alam Expressway), and the SKVE (South Klang Valley Expressway). Once in the Telok Gong vicinity, visitors will need to navigate to the specific jetty for Kelong Purple Inn. It's advisable to confirm the exact jetty location and arrangements with Kelong Purple Inn prior to arrival, as details can sometimes be specific to kelong operations.
While there might not be direct public transport links to the specific jetty itself, taxis and ride-sharing services are available in the wider Pelabuhan Klang area, offering convenient last-mile connectivity. Parking facilities near the jetty would also be a consideration for those driving. The overall accessibility is good for those with private transportation, providing a relatively straightforward journey to embark on this unique offshore adventure from anywhere in Selangor.
- Kelong Accommodation: Provides a basic offshore platform for day or overnight stays, primarily for fishing and leisure activities.
- Fishing Access: Allows visitors to fish directly from the kelong, with different types of fish (e.g., duri, gelama, sembilang, pari) potentially available depending on the season and current conditions.
- Basic Cooking Facilities: Equipped with a stove and basic cookware, enabling visitors to prepare their own meals, including freshly caught fish.
- Boat Transfer: Provides boat transportation from the jetty in Telok Gong to the kelong and back (usually a 3-4 minute ride).
- Resting Areas: Offers basic sheltered areas or spots for visitors to rest between fishing sessions.
- Overnight Stays: Caters to those who wish to extend their fishing experience overnight (price for 12 hours often mentioned, e.g., 8am-8pm or 8pm-8am).
- Unique Offshore Experience: The primary highlight is the opportunity to stay and fish on a traditional kelong, offering a distinct experience away from land-based activities.
- Self-Catering Option: The provision of basic cooking facilities allows visitors to cook their own food, including their catches, adding a communal and self-sufficient element to the trip.
- Direct Fishing Access: Anglers can fish directly from the kelong, providing constant opportunities to cast lines and potentially make a catch.
- Panoramic Sea Views: Enjoy unobstructed views of the surrounding sea, especially during sunrise and sunset, offering a peaceful and scenic environment.
- "Good for Friends" Outing: Often highlighted as a suitable destination for group outings, fostering camaraderie and shared experiences through fishing and cooking together.
- Proximity to Mainland: The short boat ride (3-4 minutes) from the jetty makes it relatively convenient to access despite being offshore.
Kelong Purple Inn, being a specialized offshore fishing and leisure platform, typically operates on a set pricing structure for its rental periods rather than offering frequent, dynamic promotions like a retail business. However, for locals in Selangor looking to plan a trip, understanding the common booking models can help optimize their visit:
- Standard Package Rates: The primary "offer" is usually a fixed rate for a specific duration, such as RM300 for a 12-hour session (e.g., 8 am to 8 pm or 8 pm to 8 am), as mentioned in some visitor comments. This rate typically covers the use of the kelong and basic facilities for a group. It's crucial for interested parties to confirm the latest pricing directly with Kelong Purple Inn, as prices can change.
- Group Bookings: While not a discount in the traditional sense, the kelong is naturally more cost-effective when booked by a group. The flat rate can be split among multiple individuals, making it an affordable outing for friends or family. This informal "group discount" is a key aspect of its appeal.
- Off-Peak Availability: While not a guaranteed promotion, booking during weekdays or outside of major public holidays might offer more flexibility in terms of availability and potentially a quieter experience, though pricing might remain consistent.
- Extended Stays: Inquire directly if there are any special rates for booking consecutive 12-hour slots for a longer overnight or multi-day fishing trip, which could implicitly offer better value.
As the business model revolves around facility rental, direct monetary discounts are less common than in other tourist attractions. The value comes from the unique experience of offshore fishing and leisure. To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates and any potential special arrangements, locals in Selangor should always contact Kelong Purple Inn directly using the provided phone numbers. It's advisable to inquire about all inclusions (e.g., boat transfer, use of facilities) and any additional costs.
- Address: Jalan Pengkalan Nelayan, Kampung Telok Gong, 42000 Pelabuhan Klang, Selangor, Malaysia (This is the jetty area from which the boat departs to the kelong)

Kelong Purple Inn offers a truly distinct and suitable leisure option for locals in Selangor, particularly for those yearning for a unique outdoor adventure away from the conventional. Its appeal lies in providing an accessible escape to the open sea, coupled with the engaging activity of offshore fishing.
Firstly, the location in Pelabuhan Klang, easily reachable from various parts of Selangor via major highways, makes it a convenient getaway. The short "3-4 minutes" boat ride from the Telok Gong jetty means that even though it's an offshore experience, it doesn't involve lengthy or complicated travel. This accessibility allows locals to embark on a mini-retreat without venturing far from home, making it ideal for a day trip or an overnight stay with minimal logistical hassle.
Secondly, Kelong Purple Inn provides a novel and interactive experience. Unlike passive sightseeing, spending time on a kelong allows for hands-on engagement with fishing, offering a sense of accomplishment and direct connection with nature. The provision of basic cooking facilities enhances this, enabling groups to bond over preparing their own meals, perhaps even cooking their fresh catches. This communal aspect makes it perfect for friends and family gatherings, creating shared memories that are far removed from typical urban entertainment.
While acknowledging some concerns raised in reviews regarding safety provisions and cleanliness, for many locals, the core value of Kelong Purple Inn lies in its authenticity and the rare opportunity it presents. It's a chance to experience a traditional Malaysian kelong, try their hand at fishing in a unique environment, and enjoy the tranquility of being out on the water. It offers a rustic charm that appeals to those looking for a different kind of relaxation and a break from routine.
Finally, for fishing enthusiasts in Selangor, it provides a dedicated platform to pursue their hobby in an offshore setting, potentially yielding different types of fish compared to land-based spots. Even if the catch isn't always abundant, the experience of trying, waiting, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings is often the true reward. Kelong Purple Inn therefore represents a suitable and distinctive choice for Selangor locals seeking an unconventional, engaging, and memorable outdoor escape.

Dec 31, 2024 · Syeken HedreThis is my 2nd trip here with friends. There's a boat without life jacket to despatch guest to the boathouse. Its a nice place for gathering especially for fishing activities. You can cook and barbecue with equipped facilities. Price is bit higher than other boathouse provider.
