PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG Introduce
Are you a proud Terengganu local yearning for an authentic island experience, nestled amidst the pristine beaches and turquoise waters of Pulau Perhentian Kecil? Perhaps you're looking for a budget-friendly option that offers a genuine taste of local island life, away from the more commercial resorts. Look no further than PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG, a guesthouse located in the heart of Kampung, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Terengganu. This establishment, while having faced challenges, is noted for the warmth and hospitality of its operating family, aiming to provide a unique and accessible stay for visitors from within our beloved state.
PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG offers a more intimate and local lodging experience, distinct from larger hotels. It aims to provide a welcoming atmosphere that resonates with the community spirit of Perhentian Island. As one customer beautifully articulated, "The lady who is running the place is super sweet, welcoming and friendly, so is her family. It's the people that make this place very special! ❤️ Loved the experience! 🙏" This highlights the personal touch and genuine kindness that guests can expect from the hosts, which can often transform a simple stay into a memorable experience.
It is important to note, however, that a recent review raised a significant concern regarding bedbugs. "DO NOT STAY, BEDBUGS!! ... when i turned over my pillow there were HUNDREDS of bed bugs getting ready. The walls are made of triplex, so that means the entire hotel is infested. Do not stay here unless you want the rest of your holiday to be spent cleaning everything, or throwing all your stuff away. We left immediately for another hotel, but they also refuse to refund any of the money for the two nights we were supposed to stay here, which makes it seem like the entire thing is a scam. Until they sort the bed bug infestation, DO NOT BOOK!!" This serious issue needs to be acknowledged by the management and thoroughly addressed to ensure the comfort and safety of all future guests. Prospective visitors are strongly advised to contact the guesthouse directly to inquire about their current measures to resolve this problem before making any bookings.

---PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG is uniquely located at NO 33 KAMPUNG, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, 22300 BESUT, Terengganu, Malaysia. This address places it squarely within a local village area on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, one of the two main islands comprising the globally renowned Perhentian Islands. This location is a primary draw for those seeking an authentic island experience, providing guests with direct access to local community life, alongside the island's famous white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.
Pulau Perhentian Kecil is generally known for its more vibrant atmosphere compared to its larger sibling, Pulau Perhentian Besar, often attracting backpackers and those looking for a lively yet beautiful island escape. The "NO 33 KAMPUNG" address indicates its integration within a local village, offering a unique opportunity to observe daily island life, interact with residents, and experience a less touristy side of the island. Unlike conventional towns, the islands lack extensive road networks, with movement primarily by foot along established trails or by water taxi.
Accessibility to PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG, being on an island, involves a specific travel process that is well-established for visitors from Terengganu and beyond:
- Mainland Gateway: The primary gateway to the Perhentian Islands is Kuala Besut Jetty, located in Besut, Terengganu. For locals, this jetty is easily reachable by car or bus from various parts of Terengganu, including Kuala Terengganu.
- Boat Transfer: From Kuala Besut Jetty, guests take a speedboat transfer to Pulau Perhentian Kecil. This journey typically takes around 30-45 minutes, offering scenic views of the open sea. Many island accommodations and travel operators offer return boat transfers as part of their packages, simplifying the journey.
- Island Navigation: Once on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, access to PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG will likely involve a walk from the drop-off point on one of the main beaches (such as Long Beach or Coral Bay) or a very short water taxi ride if arriving at a less accessible point near the village. The islands are largely pedestrian-friendly, with jungle trails connecting different beaches and the village areas.
- Proximity to Fisherman Village: Being located in the "Kampung" (village) means guests are directly integrated into the local fisherman village on Pulau Perhentian Kecil. This village offers a glimpse into authentic local island life, with small shops, traditional eateries, and a more community-focused atmosphere, distinct from the resort-heavy areas.
The location on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, specifically within the village, means guests are ideally positioned for immediate beach access, water activities, and a deeper immersion into the local culture, making it a potentially perfect base for an authentic island holiday, provided all operational concerns are adequately addressed.
---PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG, as a guesthouse on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, is expected to offer a range of essential services aimed at providing a basic yet comfortable stay for its guests, particularly those seeking a budget-friendly option and an authentic island experience. While the provided reviews highlight specific concerns, we can infer common offerings typical of guesthouses in this popular island destination.
- Accommodation: Providing private rooms or units for guests, suitable for individuals or small groups. Guesthouses typically offer simpler, no-frills accommodations compared to full-service resorts.
- Basic Furnishings: Rooms would generally include essential furniture such as beds, and possibly a fan or air-conditioning to cope with the tropical climate. The comfort level might be basic, aligning with budget-friendly options.
- Bathroom Facilities: Guests can expect either private attached bathrooms or well-maintained shared bathroom facilities, providing convenience for personal hygiene.
- Cleanliness (Aspirational): While a serious cleanliness issue has been raised in a review, ideally, a guesthouse aims to provide a clean and hygienic environment for its guests. This would involve regular cleaning of rooms and common areas.
- Front Desk/Reception Services: A reception area would typically manage check-ins and check-outs, provide information, and assist guests with basic inquiries. The positive review highlights "The lady who is running the place is super sweet, welcoming and friendly," indicating strong personal service from the family.
- Local Hospitality: A key aspect of guesthouses, especially family-run ones, is the personalized and warm local hospitality. The reviews praising the "kindness of the mom and her daughter" attest to this strong point.
- Assistance with Island Activities/Transfers: While not explicitly stated as services, guesthouses often assist guests with arranging boat transfers to and from the mainland (Kuala Besut Jetty) and organizing island activities such as snorkeling trips, diving excursions, or sea kayaking. This is crucial for an island stay.
- Basic Utilities: Access to basic utilities like electricity (which may have scheduled hours on some island properties) and water would be provided.
- Communal Areas (Possible): Some guesthouses may offer small communal areas for guests to relax or socialize.
It is imperative for potential guests to directly verify the current status of cleanliness and pest control measures with the guesthouse prior to booking, especially in light of the severe bedbug complaint.
---PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG, located in the village area of Pulau Perhentian Kecil, offers several key features and highlights that, despite a critical review, still point to its potential appeal, particularly for locals in Terengganu seeking a budget-friendly and authentic island experience. These attributes focus on its inherent advantages as a guesthouse in a unique setting.
- Exceptional Local Hospitality and Friendliness: A standout feature, widely praised by a customer, is the "super sweet, welcoming and friendly" nature of the family running the place. This personal touch and genuine warmth can significantly enhance the guest experience, making visitors feel truly at home and cared for, transcending basic amenities. "It's the people that make this place very special! ❤️ Loved the experience! 🙏"
- Authentic Island Village Immersion: Being located directly within the "Kampung" (village) on Pulau Perhentian Kecil offers guests a unique and authentic glimpse into the daily life of the island's local community. This provides a cultural experience that larger, more isolated resorts cannot replicate, allowing for deeper interaction and understanding of island traditions.
- Budget-Friendly Accommodation: Guesthouses like PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG are typically designed to be more affordable than large resorts, making an island getaway on Perhentian accessible to a wider range of local travelers, including those on a tighter budget. This allows guests to spend more on activities rather than just accommodation.
- Proximity to Local Life and Eateries: Staying in the village means easy access to local shops, small eateries, and community hubs, allowing guests to experience authentic local cuisine and purchase necessities conveniently, often at local prices.
- Direct Access to Island Vibe: The location on Pulau Perhentian Kecil itself is a major highlight. Known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life, guests are perfectly positioned for enjoying snorkeling, diving, and general beach relaxation.
- Ideal for Experience-Seekers: For travelers who prioritize local interaction and authentic experiences over luxury amenities, the guesthouse's community-integrated location is a significant draw.
It is critical for the management of PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG to address the severe "bedbugs" issue highlighted in a review. Once this fundamental cleanliness and hygiene concern is resolved, the guesthouse's positive attributes, particularly its excellent hospitality and authentic location, can truly shine and make it a highly desirable option for budget-conscious travelers seeking a genuine Perhentian experience.
---To make a booking, inquire about availability, or most importantly, to verify the current status of the cleanliness and pest control measures at PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG, you should directly contact them using the provided information. It is highly advisable to communicate your concerns and clarify the resolution of any previous issues before confirming your stay. Bookings for island accommodations, especially during peak seasons (typically April to October), should always be made well in advance.

Finally, by choosing a locally-run guesthouse like PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG, locals are directly supporting small businesses and the island community. This contribution helps sustain the livelihoods of local families, supports the unique island economy, and contributes to the preservation of the authentic culture of Pulau Perhentian. PERHENTIAN SRI TANJUNG Reviews
The lady who is running the place is super sweet, welcoming and friendly, so is her family. It's the people that make this place very special! ❤️ Loved the experience! 🙏
May 20, 2025 · AnnaDO NOT STAY, BEDBUGS!! We went here because it seemed like a good budget friendly option. On arrival the owners were nice and helpful, and we left our bags there to explore the village. We went to eat at Dinie's (try their dinie's fried rice, its really good), and when we returned we wanted to sleep. There was only a fleece blanket that was filled with dead bugs. Im not so squeamish, so I still laid down thinking the problem was already solved, but when i turned over my pillow there were HUNDREDS of bed bugs getting ready. The walls are made of triplex, so that means the entire hotel is infested.Do not stay here unless you want the rest of your holiday to be spent cleaning everything, or throwing all your stuff away.We left immediately for another hotel, but they also refuse to refund any of the money for the two nights we were supposed to stay here, which makes it seem like the entire thing is a scam. Until they sort the bed bug infestation, DO NOT BOOK!!
Aug 11, 2024 · Xander Smitsvalue for money with basic necessities; has strong AC which is very crucial when staying on the island; staff are very friendly
Jun 17, 2024 · Nur CaluangExcellent value for money. We stayed at this hotel for three days. The rooms are clean, smell good, and there are no insects. The atmosphere is welcoming, with tables on the terrace. The rooms are functional, and the air conditioning and Wi-Fi work very well. However, the walls are thin, so you can hear everything. You're close to the floating mosque, the clinic, restaurants, and the port, which allows you to reach the island's most beautiful beaches.Thank you to the staff who were attentive and very welcoming.
Jun 11, 2025 · AssiaVery nice welcome to the hotel, super nice and welcoming hotel lady, nothing to say about that! The rooms are simple and clean but the walls are not soundproofed, we can hear everything that is happening nearby, remember to take cash, we were fooled, in the village no restaurant takes the credit card, we had to eat instant pasta for 3 days.
