Plaza Salak Park Introduce
In the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of Kuala Lumpur, shopping malls play a pivotal role in the daily lives of its residents. They are not just places to shop, but often serve as community hubs where people can run errands, meet friends, and find a variety of goods and services under one roof. For those residing in or near the Taman Desa Petaling area, Plaza Salak Park stands as a familiar and practical destination. While it might not boast the grandeur of some of the city's larger, more luxurious malls, Plaza Salak Park offers a focused and essential retail experience that caters directly to the everyday needs of its local community.
Plaza Salak Park, also known as S*Park by some, has been a part of the Desa Petaling fabric for some time. It’s a freehold shopping mall that was developed by Salak Park Development Sdn Bhd, a developer with a portfolio of residential and commercial projects in Malaysia. Over the years, it has adapted to the changing retail landscape, evolving its offerings to best serve its patrons. It's a place that prioritizes convenience and utility, making it a reliable choice for residents seeking a quick grocery run, home improvement items, or other daily essentials without the hassle of navigating larger, more crowded shopping complexes.
The mall’s character is distinct; it provides a no-frills, straightforward shopping experience. It's the kind of place where you know you can find what you need efficiently, without getting lost in endless corridors. This practical approach is precisely what makes it suitable for local users who value efficiency and accessibility. While it has seen changes, such as the departure of its cinema, its core tenants continue to offer valuable services to the surrounding neighbourhoods. Plaza Salak Park remains a testament to the idea that a shopping mall doesn't need to be extravagant to be incredibly useful and well-loved by its community.
Plaza Salak Park is conveniently situated at 2, Jalan 1/125e, Taman Desa Petaling, 57100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This address places it firmly within a well-established residential and commercial area, making it highly accessible for a significant portion of Kuala Lumpur's local population. Taman Desa Petaling is known for its residential density and a network of local businesses, ensuring a steady flow of foot traffic and making the mall a natural point of interest for daily errands and casual shopping.
For those travelling by car, the mall’s location offers reasonable connectivity to major roads. However, a notable aspect of the mall, as highlighted by a customer review, is its parking facility. Patrons have noted that the ramps inside the parking lot area (both Block A & Block B) can be "very narrow." While parking is available, users should be mindful of these conditions when navigating the multi-story car park. Despite this, the presence of on-site parking remains a crucial convenience in a city where parking can often be a challenge.
Public transportation options also serve the vicinity of Plaza Salak Park. The area is connected by various bus routes, providing an alternative for those who prefer not to drive. Ride-sharing services are also widely available in Kuala Lumpur, offering a convenient door-to-door option for visitors. The mall's location within Taman Desa Petaling means it's nestled amidst residential areas and other local amenities, ensuring it's a practical stop for residents integrating their shopping trips into their daily routines. Its proximity to surrounding neighbourhoods makes it a true community mall, easily reachable for quick visits or more extensive shopping trips.
Plaza Salak Park, as a community-focused shopping mall, provides a selection of services designed to meet the everyday needs of its patrons. While it may not offer the extensive luxury brands found in larger city-centre malls, its strength lies in its practical and essential retail mix. Based on available public information and customer reviews, the primary services and retail categories available at Plaza Salak Park include:
Grocery Shopping: A major anchor tenant is Giant grocery, which serves as a crucial component for residents to purchase their daily necessities, fresh produce, and household items. This makes the mall a frequent stop for household errands.
Home Improvement & DIY: The presence of Mr. DIY provides a convenient destination for various home improvement tools, hardware, household goods, and crafting supplies, catering to a wide range of practical needs.
Convenience & Retail: 2co is another tenant, indicating a presence of general merchandise or discount retail, offering a variety of everyday items, potentially from stationery to small electronics and personal care products.
Furniture and Home Furnishings: Customer reviews indicate the presence of "some furniture shops," suggesting that the mall also caters to those looking for home decor, furniture, or related household items. This adds to its utility as a one-stop shop for residential needs.
Basic Retail Outlets: While specific details aren't always publicized, smaller local retail outlets, kiosks, and perhaps even F&B stalls or smaller eateries are typically found in community malls, offering additional convenience for visitors.
Parking Facilities: As mentioned in reviews, the mall provides parking, albeit with narrow ramps. This service is fundamental for most visitors, especially those doing larger grocery or furniture shopping.
The focus of Plaza Salak Park's offerings is clearly on fulfilling routine consumer demands, making it a functional and accessible shopping centre for its immediate vicinity.
Plaza Salak Park, while not a mega-mall, possesses several features and highlights that make it a valuable asset to the Taman Desa Petaling community:
Community-Centric Retail: The mall excels in providing essential services and products that cater directly to the daily needs of local residents. Its focus on practicality rather than luxury makes it highly relevant for its target audience.
Anchor Tenants for Daily Needs: The presence of Giant grocery as a key tenant is a significant highlight, establishing Plaza Salak Park as a primary destination for household provisions. Similarly, Mr. DIY and 2co provide a wide range of useful and affordable goods.
Specialized Home Shopping: The inclusion of "some furniture shops" indicates a commitment to offering more than just quick purchases, allowing locals to explore options for their home furnishing needs within a convenient radius.
Convenient Location: Situated in Taman Desa Petaling, the mall is easily accessible for residents in the surrounding neighbourhoods, reducing travel time and making shopping trips more efficient. This localized convenience is a major benefit.
Functional and Practical Design: While some may find the parking ramps narrow, the overall design of the mall likely prioritizes easy navigation and straightforward access to its various shops, making for a no-fuss shopping experience.
Evolution and Adaptability: The mall's history, including the previous presence of a cinema and its current focus on essential retail, demonstrates its ability to adapt to changing consumer demands and maintain its relevance within the community.
As with most shopping malls and individual retailers, Plaza Salak Park and its tenants regularly roll out promotions and special offers to attract and reward customers. While specific, current promotions can vary frequently and are best confirmed directly, you can generally expect to find the following types of offers at a mall like Plaza Salak Park:
Giant Grocery Promotions: As a major supermarket, Giant typically has weekly or bi-weekly flyers detailing discounts on fresh produce, groceries, household items, and seasonal specials. Look out for their member-exclusive deals too.
Mr. DIY Deals: Mr. DIY is well-known for its competitive pricing and frequent promotions on various hardware, home improvement, stationery, and household products. These can range from percentage discounts to bundle deals.
2co Special Buys: Retailers like 2co often feature revolving promotions on general merchandise, electronics, and other consumer goods, making it worth checking their latest offers.
Seasonal Sales: Major festive periods such as Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, and year-end sales often see widespread promotions across all participating outlets within the mall.
Tenant-Specific Promotions: Individual furniture shops and other smaller retailers within Plaza Salak Park will likely have their own in-store promotions, clearance sales, or loyalty programs.
Bank Card Offers: Keep an eye out for discounts or cashback offers when using specific bank credit or debit cards at participating outlets within the mall.

Plaza Salak Park holds a unique and significant position within the Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur landscape, particularly for its local residents. It's not designed to compete with the sprawling, high-fashion destinations that draw tourists; instead, its suitability for locals lies precisely in its grounded, practical, and community-oriented approach to retail. For the residents of Taman Desa Petaling and the surrounding neighbourhoods, Plaza Salak Park serves as an indispensable local hub that simplifies their daily lives.
The primary reason for its local appeal is its convenience and accessibility. Located directly within a residential stronghold, it eliminates the need for long, frustrating drives to distant commercial centers just for essential shopping. This saves valuable time and reduces transportation costs, a significant benefit for busy families and individuals. The presence of Giant grocery as a major anchor means that everyday household needs, from fresh produce to pantry staples, are easily met. This alone makes it a frequent and indispensable stop for many.
Furthermore, the inclusion of stores like Mr. DIY and 2co broadens its utility for the local population. Whether it's for a quick hardware fix, affordable household items, or general merchandise, these stores cater to practical, often immediate needs that arise in any home. The mention of "some furniture shops" also suggests that locals can find bigger-ticket household items, making the mall a more comprehensive solution for home-related purchases. This diverse yet focused tenant mix means that residents can often accomplish multiple errands in one efficient visit, enhancing their overall productivity.
While the parking ramps might be narrow, as noted by a patron, the availability of on-site parking is still a critical advantage, especially for those making bulk purchases at the grocery store or furniture shops. Moreover, the general tone of the mall is one of practicality and straightforwardness. It’s a place where you can quickly get what you need without being overwhelmed by excessive options or a high-pressure retail environment. This no-frills, functional approach resonates deeply with locals who prioritize efficiency and value in their shopping experiences.
In conclusion, Plaza Salak Park may not be the largest or most glamorous mall in Kuala Lumpur, but its true value lies in its role as a reliable, accessible, and community-focused shopping destination. It perfectly caters to the everyday needs of its residents, making it an ideal and highly suitable choice for locals in the Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur region seeking convenience, practicality, and essential retail services close to home.

Plaza Salak Park Reviews
Frequent visitor to the office block next door. Very narrow ramps inside the parking lot area (both Block A & Block B).
Mar 13, 2025 · Timothy John Jindiused to have a cinema here but now it's just Giant grocery and some furniture shops.. There's 2co and Mr Diy though
Jun 14, 2025 · Gabriel CheongA local mall with branded tenants, DIY, Ecos 210, Giant hypermarket and other standalone businesses that serves the surrounding hinterland of residential areas, Kampong Salak Selatan and nearby growing numbers of condos. It used to house the cineplex chain, MBO which had since fell victim to stiff competition and slow demand. The mall has recovered with new tenants as older ones folded. The atmosphere is clean, neat and well ventilated while covered parking is easily available. No inconvenience to transport your shopping items to your car.
May 09, 2021 · Pao Fook SeongIt's a very convenient plaza for desa petaling people, but no use because in this plaza you only can go for groceries shopping at giant, guardian pharmacy and MBO cinemas.-easy parking-petrol station walking distance-
Aug 15, 2018 · Edysion YowManagement needs to attract more tenants to open shop at this location. Though you have Mr. DIY, Giant and Ecoshop, sooner or later people will stop coming in as there are not lots of options. Bring back the cinema as a crowd puller.
