Greetings, fellow nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers from Pahang! If you're seeking a refreshing escape into lush greenery and cool mountain air, look no further than Rompin Trail in the picturesque Fraser's Hill. Nestled within the captivating landscape of Pahang, this hiking area offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature, embark on a gentle trek, and immerse yourselves in the rich biodiversity that our beautiful state is known for. It’s a place where the air is crisp, the sounds of the forest are your soundtrack, and every step brings a sense of calm and rejuvenation.
Rompin Trail, while perhaps not as widely known as some of the longer, more challenging trails in the region, holds its own charm. It's a short yet engaging trek that provides a glimpse into the natural wonders of Fraser's Hill. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or simply looking for a peaceful walk amidst nature, Rompin Trail presents an accessible option for locals to enjoy the outdoors without venturing too far from the comforts of Pahang.
Rompin Trail is conveniently located in Bukit Fraser, 49000 Bukit Fraser, Pahang, Malaysia. Fraser's Hill itself is a renowned highland resort approximately two hours away from Kuala Lumpur, making it a relatively accessible destination for many within Pahang and neighbouring states. For those driving from within Pahang, navigating to Fraser's Hill is generally straightforward, with clear signposts leading the way.
While Fraser's Hill is well-connected by road, it's important to note that direct public transportation to Fraser's Hill itself is limited. Most visitors opt for private transportation. If you are coming from further afield, you might consider taking a bus to Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB), the nearest town, and then arranging a taxi service to Fraser's Hill. Once you arrive at Fraser's Hill, Rompin Trail is one of the more accessible trails, often found near other key attractions. It’s a short 500-meter trek that can be either a sharp climb or descent, depending on your approach. The trail was originally cleared to provide residents of Taman Sungai Hijau Flats with quicker access to town, bypassing the longer gravel road.
Visitors are advised to check road conditions, especially during the monsoon season (October to March), as paths can become extremely slippery and certain roads might be affected by landslides. Always ensure your vehicle has sufficient petrol before heading up Fraser's Hill, as petrol stations are not available on the hill itself; the nearest one is back in KKB town.

Rompin Trail Reviews
I can’t say if this is beautiful trail as actually turn back after a short distance going down hill. Part of the steep trek were hindered with some fallen log. From the top we can see more steeper slope heading down and it just seem quite run down.
Jul 21, 2023 · Liz FoongIt was poorly maintained but worth every minute with your loved one. Nice spot to reminisce the past and present. Lovely serenity. Many exotic birds and insects. Rich with biodiversity.
Feb 19, 2022 · Thuran Nathan & krishtraanPoorly maintained trail. I went there with a bunch of friends on 23 October 2022, it was still Rompin Trail and it was in a sorry state. Today, 25 October 2022, someone put up a new sign, saying it is Hokkaido now. Hope it gets better.
Nov 15, 2022 · Bob NgDare not hiking when I encounter the step full of mossy, slipped after few steps, better wear hiking shoe instead of sport shoe in future.
Nov 15, 2021 · ivy yapLocal authorities do not mantain the trail as it should, even though the trail was frequently used by the locals as a short cut to the town centre. Sad to say the rope guards has deteriorated by fallen trees and weather. Now instead of saving at least 20 minutes of walking time, the walk is painstaking and ardous.
