It's a true hidden gem, perfect for a family outing, a peaceful solo exploration, or an educational visit with friends. You'll be surprised by the depth of history and the fascinating stories waiting to be discovered within its walls.
The Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery is a testament to the vision of the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, the eleventh Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. Initially established in 1988 as the "Muzium Kenangan" (Memorial Museum), it was later relocated and officially reopened in 2007 by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The gallery stands as a tribute to his late father, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, who reigned as the Sultan of Selangor for an impressive thirty-nine years and as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for two. It meticulously chronicles the history and lineage of the Selangor Sultanate, which dates all the way back to 1766, originating from the Bugis Sulawesi Royal family of Opu Tanreburung Daeng Relaka. The building itself, a grand colonial structure built in 1909 by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback, has its own rich history, having served various functions before becoming the revered gallery we see today. From British land and administration offices to a Japanese World War II headquarters, and later a district office, its transformation into a royal gallery adds another layer of historical significance to your visit. Many locals have been pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained this museum is, offering a truly pleasant and enlightening experience.
Conveniently located in the heart of Klang, the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery is easily accessible for anyone in Selangor. You'll find it at Jalan Stesen, Kawasan 1, 41000 Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. For those relying on public transport, reaching the gallery is quite straightforward. You can take the KTM Komuter train directly to Klang Station. Once you alight at Klang Station, the gallery is just a short, pleasant walk away. It's approximately 200 meters from the station, making it a very convenient option, especially for those who prefer to avoid driving in busy areas. If you're coming by car, various highways like the Federal, NKVE, SKVE, and KESAS connect Klang to the rest of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. While parking is available nearby, it can be limited, especially during peak hours, so do plan accordingly. For an even more comfortable journey, ride-hailing services like Grab are also readily available throughout Selangor and can drop you right at the gallery's doorstep.

Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery Reviews
The Selangor Royal Family Museum showcases the esteemed Sultan of Selangor's history and possessions. Unfortunately, historical royal vehicles are not included in the museum.
Apr 25, 2025 · Mohd NajibVisited during the school holidays in Feb 2024. It surprised me how well this museum is maintained. The best place to visit to know about the history of Klang. It’s such an interesting place and we were the only ones inside when we visited. The museum is pretty small and can take you about 1 hour to go through. Parking is limited. Entrance is free.We aren’t allowed to take any photos inside though but the grounds are pretty.
Mar 13, 2024 · Janie MartinA great place for an educational visit to learn on the Selangor Royal Family. Photography and videography are not allowed in the gallery, however they have a service to loan a phone to scan the QR codes available all throughout the gallery to learn more on the history and description. A well maintained gallery/ museum.
Jul 19, 2024 · Sharon YapFree admission. Good gallery to visit if you are nearby Little India, Klang. Family friendly with parking space. No photography allowed for the indoor exhibits.
Apr 20, 2024 · Kok Sheong Lee (Tennyson)Free entrance, very extensive display, from the personal collections to the official uniform, it gives you a glimpse into the everyday life of the head of state Selangor. Toilets available, not wheelchair accessible.Areas for improvement:1. To put up signage for the entrance and direction. When we were here, there was no signage around, we asked a staff we met when wondering around looking for entrance, the staff pointed us to stairs. So we went up. Within 5 minutes into the gallery, a staff came out and questioning us why coming from different entrance. 😶 There after, she surveillance us all the way until we go downstairs. These could have avoided if there's proper signage.2. Put up the signage if you don't allow to take photos inside. It is fine that photography is not allowed, but the staff could have tell us nicely.
