The Alchemy Reviews
Basement bar of the hotel. Lacked any real atmosphere but the staff were friendly and attentive. Gin menu was great. They infuse their own gin with the butterfly pea flower
Mar 22, 2025 · R YThe alchemists behind this bar sure know how to whip up some mighty fine gin based cocktails. Each drink is filled with interesting flavours and paired well with different gin. I love the ambience as I can enjoy my drinks in peace and quiet (relatively speaking). The service is really good and the team is friendly and eager to explain the options available to a novice drinker.
Feb 12, 2022 · gevsOverall the food here is appalling.Let's start with the pros. The mocktail is pretty good and coffee is acceptable. Now for the cons. There doesn't seem to be much communication between the staff. I asked if they could accommodate 3 people for high tea through Facebook and they said yes. When i didn't get any reply I whatsapped them and they said they only did sets for two people. However to their credit, they still accommodated me.Now for the food and drinks:Tea: they are just the regular dilmah teabags. Not that there is anything wrong with that but at this price point, I don't see why loose leaf tea can't be used.Sandwiches: The bread for sandwiches were so dry and quite stale. There was no dill in the cucumber sandwich. In all sandwiches, fillings were very thin to the point where even though I could feel that there was something, the taste is unidentifiable.Savouries: there was a sun dried tomato and feta bagel but it tasted more like dried tomato and salty cream cheese. There is no way the tomato is sun dried. (you can see it in the picture)The spicy shrimp vol au vent had so little filling that there was no spice nor shrimp to be tasted. It was just a smattering of something. The pastry too is stale and feels days old.Scones: i had the honey and oatmeal scone. Can't really taste the honey or oatmeal but what's worse is the fact that the scone is so hard I had to saw it in half. I've never sawed scones in half. It might have been marginally better if it was warmed. According to the people I've dined with, there is no taste of white chocolate in the white chocolate scone either. Strawberry preserve was alright (tasted like bonne maman) and so was the cream. According to the menu it is lemon mascarpone but again, there is no taste of lemon.Desserts: overall it was just ever so slightly better compared to the other foods. Nothing really stellar but it was... Edible. What I assume is the friand was moist, probably the only nice thing i could say about the abysmal experience. As a whole, it is totally not worth it and the Instagram pictures on their account feel very deceptive.
May 05, 2022 · Sarah Yeoh-LähteenojaFirstly the Gin cocktails are fairly good. At RM40 a pop, pricing is not too bad considering we are at Bukit Bintang Starhill.Service is fast amd friendly. Pls ask the bartender to recommend a cocktail if you are unsure what to order.Deco is a tad bland/boring for a bar. Ot looks more like a canteen.. Seating is well spacious. Bar games are also absent.A good place to rest, chill and grab a quick drink away from the busy and crowded Pavilion Shopping Centre.
Nov 28, 2022 · sakura groupVisited on a Thursday night for some drinks and downtime after a long workday. Ended up being even more stressed due to their DJ.The music was WAY too loud - my colleagues and I could barely hear each other. Song selections were as if it was a club for people to dance and rave, when this venue is nothing like that. The "best" part was, we asked a waiter if we could request for the DJ to tone down the volume a little - the DJ blasted his music LOUDER instead. And for the record, we're party people and we do clubs, this review is not a bias from non-clubbing peeps. So unless you wanna scream your head off trying to talk, or you support DJs who disrespect customers, don't bother coming here. I haven't written a negative review in a long while but this was a terrible experience all thanks to their DJ.On the bright side, their drinks and service were great. They put attention and care to their cocktails, they're worth a try.
