This is where **Ulu Rening Cottage** shines. More than just a resort hotel, it presents itself as a private sanctuary, blending the comforts of a modest cottage with expansive grounds perfect for camping and direct access to pristine natural elements. If you're looking for a destination that allows for true relaxation, reconnection with loved ones, and an immersion in Selangor's natural beauty, then read on to discover why Ulu Rening Cottage might just be your next favorite local spot.
Ulu Rening Cottage is located in **Batang Kali, Selangor, Malaysia**, specifically within the tranquil Kampung Hulu Rening area, marked by the postcode **44300**. For those of us in Selangor, Batang Kali is a familiar gateway to nature, known for its lush landscapes and cooler climes compared to the city. While the address might seem general, previous visitors highlight that the specific instructions and video provided by the contact person (CO) via WhatsApp a day before arrival are incredibly helpful for navigation. The road leading to the cottage is described as "light off-road," surprisingly manageable even for a sedan car, ensuring that accessibility isn't a significant barrier. This indicates a manageable journey to a secluded paradise. The location, nestled amidst green groves and fresh surroundings, truly offers an escape from the concrete jungle. Despite being near a goat farm, guests report "no unpleasant smell," emphasizing the fresh and clean atmosphere. This blend of remote tranquility with practical, guided accessibility makes it an appealing choice for a local retreat, not too far from home, yet feeling worlds away.
Ulu Rening Cottage offers a blend of private cottage amenities and expansive outdoor facilities, catering primarily to groups and families seeking a nature-centric experience. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect:
- Private Cottage Accommodation: A single basic chalet is available, providing a private and cozy indoor space. It features one bathroom inside and is equipped with fans and lamps. No beds are provided, encouraging guests to bring their own sleeping arrangements (e.g., air mattresses, sleeping bags), aligning with a semi-camping experience.
- Ample Camping Space: The front yard is spacious, allowing for pitching "up to 5 tents," depending on their size. This flexibility makes it ideal for larger family gatherings or multiple groups camping together. Guests can choose any suitable camping site within the area.
- Outdoor Bathroom Facilities: In addition to the cottage's bathroom, there are "2 bathrooms outside located a lil bit distance from cottage," ensuring convenience for campers.
- Basic Kitchen Facilities: A small kitchen area is available, equipped with gas and a stove, a table, and a few chairs. A refrigerator is also provided. Guests are advised to bring their own utensils, wok, and plates.
- 24-hour Electricity: Plug points are available at the cottage, and electricity is provided continuously, ensuring power for devices. Guests planning to use power at their tents should bring "an extra long extension cord."
- River Access: The property boasts access to a "crystal clear" river, with both shallow and deep areas suitable for kids and adults. Tubes/floats can also be used in some areas, making it excellent for water activities.
- No Fixed Check-in/Check-out Times: This highly flexible policy allows guests more freedom and convenience in planning their arrival and departure.
Ulu Rening Cottage stands out with several unique features and highlights that cater to those seeking an authentic and private nature experience:
- Exclusive Private Use: The entire area, including the cottage and camping grounds, is typically "just for us," meaning it’s suitable for "big family" gatherings, offering unparalleled privacy and exclusivity. This is a significant draw for groups who prefer an undisturbed environment.
- Pristine River Experience: The "crystal clear" river is a major highlight, perfect for swimming, floating, and enjoying refreshing dips in a natural setting. Its suitability for both children and adults makes it a family-friendly water feature.
- Stargazing Opportunities: Away from city lights, the lodge offers fantastic opportunities for "stargazing at night." Guests can even "sleep outside and looked up at the sky," promising a truly "mesmerising" celestial show.
- Flexible Stay Options: The combination of a cottage and ample camping space provides versatility, allowing guests to choose their preferred level of 'roughing it' while still having access to essential amenities.
- Pets on Premises: The presence of friendly dogs and cats adds to the rustic, natural charm of the place, though guests are advised to secure their food from occasional dog visits.
- Owner Interaction: The "CO (contact person) came and checked on us because he stay nearby" suggests a hands-on approach from the owner, potentially leading to more personalized service and assistance if needed.
- Fresh & Green Environment: Despite a nearby goat farm, the "fresh" air and "greeny grass and grove of trees" create a refreshing and natural ambiance, promoting relaxation and well-being.

Feb 13, 2024 · Suwaibah YSOnly one basic chalet is available. Hence it is a perfect relaxing spot for a family. The front yard is ample for camping. The river water is clear and just marvelous. The kitchen attached to the chalet just needs to be refurbished a little. Toilet is clean. No bed though but it's okay. You get to camp out.Nothing beats the nature ❤
Aug 21, 2020 · Elin Harrisnothing to impress...just small river and shallow water. Very narrow road ...and dangerous to outsiders.. Our car difficult to turnaround and possible can collide with other vehicles..
