The 4 Steps Waterfall is located deep within Taman Negara, specifically described as the headwater and most distant source of the Tahan River. Its access point for treks typically begins from Kuala Tahan, Pahang, Malaysia, which serves as the main gateway to Taman Negara. Kuala Tahan is a known hub for eco-tourism and adventure in Pahang.
Accessibility to the 4 Steps Waterfall is notably challenging, requiring a multi-day jungle trek. It is explicitly stated that this "extremely remoted place only can be reached in 8-9 days jungle trecking and hiking, started from Kuala Tahan (+/- 100km return) before entering a virgin, untouchable trail at Teku Camp." This means direct vehicle access is not possible to the waterfall itself. Visitors must embark on a strenuous and lengthy trek from Kuala Tahan, passing through various jungle camps, with Teku Camp serving as a crucial point before entering the most pristine part of the trail leading to the waterfall.
For locals in Pahang planning this expedition, reaching Kuala Tahan is the first step. Kuala Tahan is accessible by road from major towns in Pahang. From Kuala Lumpur, it can be reached via Jerantut, followed by a local bus, taxi, or boat trip across the Tembeling River to the Taman Negara headquarters. Once at Kuala Tahan, all arrangements for the multi-day trek, including permits, guides, and potentially porters, must be made. This is not a self-guided route for the faint of heart; proper planning, experienced guides, and excellent physical conditioning are absolutely essential for embarking on this significant adventure to the 4 Steps Waterfall.

4 Steps Waterfall Reviews
An EXTREMELY RARE place and one the Top 5 hidden gems of Taman Negara! The 4 Steps Waterfall is the headwater, also a home to the most distant source of Tahan River! This extremely remoted place only can be reached in 8-9 days jungle trecking and hiking, started from Kuala Tahan ( +/- 100km return ) before entering a virgin, untouchable trail at Teku Camp! We did a 11 days of journey, started from Merapoh Gate, then continue our journey to the 4 Steps Waterfall before returning back to Teku Camp and exit via Kuala Tahan Gate. This ONCE IN LIFETIME EXPERIENCE IS A MUST to do for those who are looking for a RARE, UNSUNG and UNIQUE adventure! A true adventure of Taman Negara!
