Alam damai park Introduce
Nestled within the residential heart of Alam Damai, Cheras, in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, lies the Alam Damai Park. This green space is envisioned as a serene retreat for residents, offering a natural environment for relaxation, exercise, and community interaction. It is a vital amenity for the surrounding neighbourhoods, providing a much-needed breath of fresh air amidst the urban landscape. As a public park, it falls under the management of Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), aiming to provide a well-maintained and enjoyable recreational area for all.
Alam Damai Park is designed to be a beautiful and accessible local park, integral to the quality of life for those living in Alam Damai and nearby areas. It has traditionally been a popular spot for morning jogs, evening strolls, and family outings. While recently undergoing some renovations, including the addition of a new tar road, the park is currently facing some challenges that are being addressed. These challenges, as highlighted by community feedback, include issues with cleanliness and adherence to park regulations. Despite these ongoing concerns, the park's fundamental purpose remains to serve as a valuable green lung, providing essential recreational opportunities and a connection to nature for the local community. It continues to be a place with potential for tranquil moments and active pursuits, and efforts are expected to improve its overall condition for the benefit of its users.
Alam Damai Park is conveniently located at 59, Jalan Damai Rasa 18, Alam Damai, 56000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This address places it squarely within the Alam Damai residential area of Cheras, making it highly accessible for residents of this well-established neighbourhood and its immediate surroundings.
The park's location within a residential zone means it is easily reachable by foot for many living in Alam Damai. For those coming from slightly further afield within Cheras or other parts of Kuala Lumpur, accessing the park is straightforward via personal vehicles or ride-sharing services. Jalan Damai Rasa 18 is a local road within the Alam Damai network, connecting to larger thoroughfares in Cheras.
While the provided information does not explicitly state the availability of dedicated parking, as is common with many neighbourhood parks, visitors typically find street parking in the vicinity of the park entrance along Jalan Damai Rasa 18 or adjacent roads. However, during peak hours, especially mornings and evenings, parking might be competitive due to the park's popularity among locals.
For those relying on public transport, while there might not be a direct MRT or LRT station right at the park's doorstep, Cheras is generally well-served by public transport networks. From nearby stations, a short ride-sharing trip (like Grab) would easily connect visitors to Alam Damai Park. Its integration within a residential community ensures that it is a practical and convenient destination for locals looking to enjoy some green space without extensive travel. The park's visibility and prominence within the Alam Damai area make it a recognizable and easy-to-locate landmark for residents.
Alam Damai Park, as a public recreational area, offers a range of services designed to facilitate outdoor activities and community enjoyment. While not commercial services, these are the amenities and functions it provides:
Green Spaces and Open Areas: The park primarily offers expansive green lawns and open areas for general recreation, picnicking, or simply relaxing amidst nature. These spaces are crucial for providing a sense of openness in a densely populated urban environment.
Jogging/Walking Paths: A key feature is the provision of paths for exercise. Recent renovations have reportedly included the addition of a "new tar road," which likely serves as a dedicated track for jogging, walking, or cycling, promoting active lifestyles among residents.
Security Presence: The park maintains a security presence, with "security guards at the security post." This service is intended to enhance safety and enforce park regulations, ensuring a secure environment for visitors.
Managed by DBKL: As stated, the park is "Managed by DBKL" (Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur). This indicates that the park falls under the jurisdiction of the city's municipal government, which is responsible for its maintenance, infrastructure, and overall management, including addressing the feedback and concerns raised by the public.
It is important to note that while the park aims to offer these services, user reviews indicate ongoing challenges with cleanliness and enforcement, specifically regarding "stinking pools," "rubbish everywhere," and non-compliance with "DOs & Don'ts displayed clearly on the sign board" by some individuals, including security personnel. These are areas where current management efforts are reportedly falling short, impacting the quality of the "services" provided to the public. Users should be aware that the park is in a state where improvements are needed in its daily upkeep and regulation enforcement to fully deliver on its intended services.
Alam Damai Park, despite some recent challenges, possesses several features and highlights that are intended to make it an appealing local green space:
Nestled within Residential Area: Its primary highlight is its location "nestled within the Alam Damai residences." This makes it incredibly convenient and accessible for a large local population, serving as an immediate green lung and recreational space right on their doorstep.
Beautiful Park Design (inherent quality): The park is described as "beautiful," suggesting an aesthetic appeal in its design, landscaping, and natural elements. While maintenance issues currently affect its overall presentation, the underlying design aims for a pleasant environment.
New Tar Road: A recent renovation has introduced a "new tar road." This is a significant feature, likely serving as an improved surface for jogging, walking, cycling, or even pushing strollers, enhancing the park's usability for active recreation.
Public Space for Community Use: The park's existence as a large public area provides a vital communal space for residents to gather, exercise, or simply relax outdoors, which is a highlight in dense urban environments.
Managed by DBKL: While currently facing management critiques, the fact that it is managed by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) implies a formal commitment to its upkeep and development, suggesting that resources are allocated for its operation and potential improvement, even if there are current shortcomings.
Security Presence: The presence of "security guards at the security post" is a feature aimed at ensuring safety and order within the park, providing a sense of security for visitors, even if their effectiveness is currently being questioned by some users.
It is important to acknowledge the critical feedback from users regarding the "stinking pools," "rubbish everywhere," and issues with regulation enforcement (e.g., smoking by security, motorcyclists inside the park). While these are current drawbacks, they highlight areas where improvement is needed to allow the park's intended features and highlights to truly shine and be fully enjoyed by the community. The inherent design and recent upgrades like the tar road indicate the park's potential to be a truly excellent local amenity once these issues are addressed.
As a public park managed by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Alam Damai Park does not operate with commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a business would. Access to the park is generally free for the public, and its amenities are intended for open use by all residents.
However, the "offers" to the local community come in the form of the free public amenities and benefits it provides:
Free Access to Green Space: The primary "offer" is complimentary access to a sizable green area, allowing residents to enjoy nature, fresh air, and open space without any entry fees.
Free Recreational Facilities: The park provides free-to-use facilities such as jogging/walking paths (including the newly added tar road) for exercise and recreation, promoting active and healthy lifestyles among locals.
Community Gathering Spot: The park serves as a free public venue for informal community gatherings, family outings, and social interactions, fostering a sense of community within the Alam Damai residences.
Environmental Benefits: While not a direct "offer," the park provides essential environmental benefits to the surrounding area, such as cleaner air and a cooler microclimate, which enhance the quality of life for residents.
It is worth noting that while these "offers" are inherent to public parks, the public reviews indicate that the current state of cleanliness and enforcement might detract from the full enjoyment of these benefits. There are no ongoing commercial promotions associated with the park. Any "special offers" would likely be community-driven events, such as free exercise classes or neighbourhood clean-up drives, organised by local residents or community groups in collaboration with DBKL, rather than park-initiated promotions. For information on such community activities, locals would typically refer to neighbourhood social media groups or local community boards.
As Alam Damai Park is a public recreational area managed by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), there isn't a specific direct phone number or email address solely for the park itself. Public parks fall under the broader municipal services.
However, here is the relevant location information for the park:
Address: 59, Jalan Damai Rasa 18, Alam Damai, 56000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
For matters related to the maintenance, cleanliness, or enforcement of regulations within Alam Damai Park (or any DBKL-managed park), locals would typically contact the relevant departments within Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.
General contact methods for DBKL, which would be the appropriate channel for providing feedback or raising concerns about the park's condition, include:
DBKL General Line: While a specific number for parks isn't provided, the general DBKL hotline or customer service number is usually the starting point for public inquiries and complaints related to city services. This number can typically be found on the official DBKL website.
DBKL Online Feedback Portal: Many government agencies, including DBKL, have online portals or apps where citizens can submit feedback, complaints, or suggestions regarding public amenities. This is often the most effective way to report issues like cleanliness or maintenance needs.
Local Community Representatives: Residents might also channel their feedback through their local Resident Associations (RA) or elected local councillors, who can then escalate the issues directly to DBKL.
Given the feedback regarding the park's current condition, utilising DBKL's official feedback channels would be the recommended course of action for concerned locals to ensure their voices are heard and improvements can be implemented.
Alam Damai Park, despite its current challenges, remains a fundamentally suitable and important amenity for locals residing in Alam Damai and the broader Cheras area of Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. Its suitability stems from its inherent potential and the critical role it plays in providing accessible green space within an urban environment.
Firstly, the park's prime location nestled within the Alam Damai residences makes it incredibly convenient. For families, joggers, and anyone seeking a quick dose of nature, having a green lung just steps away from their homes is an invaluable asset. This ease of access encourages regular visits, promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle for the community. The time saved from commuting to distant parks can instead be spent enjoying the outdoors, which is a major draw for busy city dwellers.
Secondly, the presence of jogging/walking paths, including the newly installed tar road, provides dedicated infrastructure for exercise. This caters directly to locals who prioritise physical activity, offering a safe and relatively smooth surface for their daily runs or strolls. While cleanliness issues are a concern, the fundamental infrastructure for recreation is in place, and with improved maintenance, these paths will fully serve their purpose.
Moreover, as a public space managed by DBKL, Alam Damai Park represents a communal asset. It is intended to be a place where neighbours can connect, children can play, and individuals can unwind. This communal aspect is vital for fostering a sense of community spirit and well-being among residents. The very act of providing feedback and advocating for improvements, as seen in the reviews, highlights the community's vested interest and desire for the park to reach its full potential.
While there are acknowledged issues with cleanliness and enforcement, these are challenges that can be addressed through active management by DBKL and continued public advocacy. The underlying infrastructure and the park's strategic location mean that once these maintenance concerns are resolved, Alam Damai Park has the capacity to be an outstanding example of a well-utilized urban green space. The park's inherent beauty and purpose as a recreational hub for the Alam Damai community underscore its suitability. It provides essential lung space and a vital outlet for physical and mental well-being, making it an indispensable part of local life, eagerly awaiting its full revitalisation to once again shine as a truly cherished local amenity.

Alam damai park Reviews
Beautiful park nestled within the Alam Damai residences. Managed by DBKL. However I only see security guards at the security post, not DBKL officers. Recently it was renovated after huge trees were chopped off & a new tar road put in its place. The pools stink & need cleaning. There is still rubbish everywhere. In spite of the DOs & Don'ts displayed clearly on the sign board, the security fellows are smoking away in their posts, and motorcyclists are still gallivanting around inside the park. Hello DBKL, kalau tak reti nak mengendalikan park ni, bagi je kepada orang yang lebih competent dan akan mengambil serius tugas mereka. Cukupla dengan kerenah kamu2 semua. Dah bosan with your mediocrity.
