This unique setting, with its preserved pillars, columns, and intricate details, offers a charming and immersive experience that pays homage to Chinatown's rich legacy. The decor often changes, ensuring a fresh look.
- Captivating & Themed Decor: The interior is thoughtfully designed, featuring plush red seating, sheer curtains, and subtle crane motifs throughout, creating a luxurious and intimate "speakeasy-style" venue. Even the restrooms are noted for their interesting decor, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal. This meticulous attention to detail makes every corner Instagram-worthy.
- Innovative Cocktail Program: The bar prides itself on its creative and original cocktail menu. Beyond classics, they offer signature concoctions with unique local twists (e.g., Assam Boi Margarita) and even utilize their own infused liquors (e.g., Cognac infused with Chinese tea and black pepper), showcasing a commitment to mixology excellence.
- Quality Asian Fusion Food: Unlike many bars where food is an afterthought, Crane Upstairs receives praise for its "pretty good" Asian fusion cuisine. Dishes like the "rendang pie tee" demonstrate a playful yet competent take on traditional flavors, making it an ideal spot for both drinks and a satisfying meal.

- Alfresco Balcony with Street Views: The presence of an alfresco balcony provides patrons with fresh air and a unique perspective of the bustling Jalan Sultan below. This is perfect for enjoying a drink while observing the vibrant street life of Chinatown, especially as day turns to dusk.

Crane Upstairs KL Reviews
Oh boy ! So many choices of cocktails and we ended up with Povela Passion and Rafi the mixologist made a special Assam Boi Margarita …. A wow ! Atmosphere so mmm!
Jan 08, 2025 · YVRIRLHad dinner on a weekday at 6pm, which is considerably early, but the good thing is there was happy hour. The space is just beautiful, and I’ll recommend that you take a trip to the loo because you’ll enjoy the decor of the shophouse.Food was actually pretty good, for Asian fusion. In particular, the rendang pie tee (appetiser) stood out as an interesting take on what is traditionally a vegetarian dish. The western dishes we ordered were also executed competently. This is probably a good place for after hours drinks as we heard the live singer testing her mic. Live music would’ve been too loud for us to enjoy a conversation so we’re glad our dinner ended early.
May 26, 2022 · Liza KGreat bar in the heart of Chinatown in one of few old buildings in the city. This was recommended to us by a longtime resident of the city.Cocktails between 25 to 36 MYR.Good cocktails.Love the outdoor balcony to watch the activity on the street.Highly recommended.
Mar 17, 2024 · Paddy O'ConnellAnother good place with perfection. Love the vibe love the food love the taste love the quality and plating. 100% great service by the crane team. Enjoying my dinner with friend here. If you are a drink lover feel free to come they have hidden bar upstairs. Many foreigners come yesterday including me haha definitely will come here again next time ^^
Mar 06, 2022 · 지신GvNI was very disappointed with the service. I understand its a bar, but my friend and I had just had our dinner and drinks and just wanted to look for a place to chill and relax. We didn’t order any food (but I’ll give it 2 stars for mid-point) nor alcoholic drinks. We ordered a pot of tea and a watermelon juice. The place is practically empty. We saw 2 tables outside the bar and maybe 1-2 table of guest downstairs and we were the only guest sitting upstairs. I don’t think it’s high expectations to have our tea and juice to be serve within 10-15 minutes. It’s a pot of tea - water and tea bags… and some watermelons into a juicer…. We were waiting for maybe 30 minutes… I was very close to leaving. I think it’s also sensible if they face any issue in the kitchen to come and inform us that it will be delayed… but nope! A group of 4 tourists came , and we observed and same thing… the bar is right in front of us… and it took them 15 or so minutes to serve a pint of beer from the tap??? I don’t know if I’d like to go back…
