Elai's Teh Tarik Reviews
Possibly the softest and tastiest chapattis in Kajang, Elai’s also boasts pretty good Teh Tarik and Teh Ais. I’d go back for these signature items for sure.Side dishes however, are hit and miss. The Mutton Keema was pretty decent, but not the very flavourful variety I expected. The Sardine Sambal was sweetish from the onions used, and I would have preferred a spicier version. The Dhall was decent but not exceptional. I saw many customers ordering the Mutton Curry so that’s something I’d like to try on my next visit. The soft chapattis however made up for the somewhat mediocre side dishes I tried. The Nasi Lemak is not too great despite many takeaway and dine-in orders. The rice was decent but the sambal was too sweet for my liking and lacked the spiciness required. The Sambal Kerang (cockles) on the other hand had a more pronounced spiciness to it. The Ayam Goreng Berempah was not the best version in town; the chicken had not been marinated long enough to absorb the flavours and it also needed more seasoning. The redeeeming factor was that it was fried on the spot and served piping hot with the crispy rempah bits as well. I must however take exception to the fried Ikan bilis (anchovies) served with the Nasi Lemak - they were so hard, I could not chew them and had to pick them out and discard the same (see the pix). A word of advice to the cook, you need to soak the Ikan bilis and dry it before frying to get a nice crispy and crunchy texture.I’ll skip the Nasi Lemak next time and have the Chapati or Rice Set with fried chicken or fish.
Apr 26, 2025 · John D'Cruz (Kajangfood)I searched Google for the best nasi lemak near me, and one of the results led me to this joint. It's clear that this place has been around for quite some time. Their standout dish is Teh Tarik, but they've elevated it with Teh Tarik Ais. Since I'm not a fan of cold drinks, I opted for the regular Teh Tarik instead. For my meal, I decided on the Nasi Lemak, which comes highly recommended here and was exactly what I was craving. The staff informed me that ordering Capati might take some time, so Nasi Lemak seemed like the quicker and equally delicious choice. I must say, their Nasi Lemak was perfect: richly flavored coconut rice complemented by delicious sambal, generously topped with ground nuts, crispy anchovies, and slices of cucumber. In addition to Nasi Lemak, this place is also renowned for its Capati and lamb curry. Will definitely come again.
Jul 23, 2024 · Ahmad Mahazam Mat ZaidBy far the best chapatti that is available near Kajang. The side dish Kimia and lamb curry is very recommended cuz the meat are so tender and the curry was spot on. Not to forget their Nasi Lemak Kerang is also quite nice as the sambal is not that sweet and spicy. The only downside that they have is the amount of stuff needed to serve tons of customer so your food might be a little late especially at night .
Jul 19, 2024 · Firdaus RidhwanHad nasi lemak ayam berempah and capati. Both equally tasty and delicious. Capati is made to order so it’s always warm and soft .Kuah sardin and kambing goes really well with capati. Make your way here, highly recommended.
