[High-Tech Motorcycle Theft Right at My Doorstep — Serious Security Flaws in Emerald 9's Access System]On the night of May 2nd, my motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot of Emerald 9 Condominium. The thieves didn’t use any access card, password, or provide identification. Instead, they seemingly used some kind of contactless technology to bypass the gate system and entered the premises with ease, walking off with my entire bike.It was a grey-blue 2024 YAMAHA 135LC, which I bought just a year ago, and it’s worth close to RM10,000. At around 9:40 PM, two young men wearing baseball caps approached the gate sensor. They stood there for just 10 seconds before the gate opened automatically. Without hesitation, they walked in naturally and wheeled the bike away. The entire act was clearly captured on CCTV.After the incident, we approached the management to request the CCTV footage. They only gave us a short clip and told us to handle the police report ourselves. They offered no further help or investigation. What’s even more disappointing is that, after clearly viewing the footage.This isn’t my first unpleasant experience at this condo. In the past, food deliveries and parcels have been stolen. Whenever we lodged complaints, the management would just respond, “That’s not within our responsibility.” And now, even with an entire motorcycle being stolen, they still refuse to take any real action.What’s worse, it was only after this incident that the management told me another motorcycle had also been stolen just the week before. Yet, they never informed the residents, nor did they implement any preventive measures.Living in a gated and guarded condominium is supposed to provide a sense of security. But now, with the gate system so easily compromised, a management team that shifts blame, and a police force that refuses to investigate, one can’t help but ask — who can we still trust?I’m not sharing this post just to recover my bike. I want everyone to be aware of the serious security loopholes in the Emerald 9 access system.
