"This is one of the worst homestays I have ever stayed in my entire life, and I really do not recommend people to go there because:1.The owner was really rude when they put a few CCTV cameras inside the house without informing the tenants.2.The owner kept watching us as if they were spying from outside the house.3.The owner suddenly forbade us from putting up a wedding tent, even though we had already informed them that we would be holding a wedding, and they had initially said it was fine. But when someone came to set up the tent, he scolded the workers and suddenly said we couldn't put up a big tent, even though they had never specified a size restriction to us in the first place.4.The owner kept complaining about many things, such as closing the curtains and other things they were not satisfied with.5.Some facilities were broken and couldn't be used, such as the sliding door, toilet lock, and clogged sink.Lastly, we were really unsatisfied when we saw another house being allowed to open a wedding tent, even though the house owner had told us we couldn't because of the community's rules. Please don't go here, or you will regret it, just like we did." - Amanda Alea

Services Offered

Based on the available information and general expectations of a homestay in Kuala Lumpur, Homestay@137 in Taman Melati likely offers the following services and amenities, keeping in mind the significant negative feedback received from past guests:

  • Private Accommodation: The primary offering is a private house or unit for rent, typically including multiple bedrooms, a living area, and bathrooms. Some sources mention a "Four-Bedroom House" with "2 bathrooms," suggesting capacity for groups.

  • Bedrooms and Bedding: Information from various booking platforms indicates the presence of multiple beds, such as "1 sofa bed and 4 double beds" or 4 bedrooms, which implies it can accommodate a number of guests.

  • Air-Conditioning: It is stated that the property includes "air-conditioning," which is essential for comfort in Kuala Lumpur's climate.

  • Kitchen Facilities: Reviews (from other sources, if not directly from provided snippets) often mention a "fully equipped kitchen with a fridge and a kettle," allowing for self-catering. Basic dining utensils are generally expected.

  • Living Area with Entertainment: A living room with a "flat-screen TV" is typically provided for guest entertainment and relaxation.

  • Basic Bathroom Amenities: Bathrooms are expected to have showers, and basic toiletries might be provided. However, one review specifically mentions "toilet lock" and "clogged sink" issues, indicating potential maintenance deficiencies in this area.

  • Parking: Free public parking is often available on-site, which is convenient for guests traveling by car.

  • Wi-Fi Connectivity: "Free WiFi throughout the property" is typically offered, which is crucial for modern travelers.

  • Outdoor Space: Some listings mention a "patio" and "terrace" with "garden views," suggesting some outdoor areas for guests.

However, it is critical to address the significant concerns raised by multiple reviewers. These include:

  • Lack of Privacy/Micromanagement: Reviews state, "The owner was really rude when they put a few CCTV cameras inside the house without informing the tenants" and "The owner kept watching us as if they were spying from outside the house." This points to a severe lack of privacy and micromanagement, which is highly unusual and unacceptable for a private rental.

  • Unsuitability for Events/Parties: Despite being advertised for events, customers were "suddenly forbade us from putting up a wedding tent" and described it as "Useless for event or Party." This contradicts initial understandings and highlights a significant limitation if planning gatherings.

  • Facility Malfunctions: "Some facilities were broken and couldn't be used, such as the sliding door, toilet lock, and clogged sink," indicating maintenance issues that impact guest comfort and convenience.

  • Owner Conduct: "The owner kept complaining about many things," suggesting a difficult and unsatisfactory interaction style.

These negative points heavily influence the perceived services and overall guest experience at Homestay@137.

Features / Highlights

Given the primary information provided through customer reviews, the "features" and "highlights" of Homestay@137, Taman Melati, Kuala Lumpur, are critically viewed through the lens of guest experience. While certain factual amenities exist, the customer feedback strongly shapes how these features are perceived.

  • Private House Setting: The property is a "private guest room" or homestay, which inherently offers more space and privacy than a single hotel room. It's a "Four-Bedroom House" with two bathrooms, suggesting capacity for larger groups or families.

  • Accessibility and Location: Situated in Taman Melati, the homestay benefits from its proximity to the Taman Melati LRT station and major roads. This makes it reasonably accessible for travel within Kuala Lumpur, including attractions like Royal Selangor Pewter Factory and Visitor Centre (3.4 km), and for accessing local amenities like shops and eateries in a residential area.

  • Essential Amenities: The presence of "air-conditioning," a "fully equipped kitchen with a fridge and a kettle," "flat-screen TV," and "Free WiFi throughout the property" provides basic comforts expected in a private rental. Parking is also generally available.

However, the most prominent "highlights" are unfortunately negative, as per the provided customer reviews. These are significant considerations that prospective local users must be aware of:

  • Intrusive Surveillance: A major concern is the presence of "CCTV cameras inside the house without informing the tenants" and the owner "kept watching us as if they were spying from outside the house." This is a critical invasion of privacy and directly contradicts the expectation of a "private" guest room. This feature is a severe deterrent.

  • Unsuitable for Events/Parties: Despite possibly being considered for events, the reviews explicitly state it's "Useless for event or Party" and that the owner "suddenly forbade us from putting up a wedding tent" even after initial permission. This makes it highly unreliable for celebrating special occasions, which is often a key reason locals book such properties.

  • Owner Micromanagement and Rudeness: The owner is described as "really rude," "micromanage all the times," and "kept complaining about many things." Such an interaction style severely impacts the guest experience and creates an unwelcoming atmosphere, completely undermining the idea of a comfortable stay.

  • Maintenance Issues: Critical facilities like the "sliding door, toilet lock, and clogged sink" were "broken and couldn't be used." These functional deficiencies directly affect comfort and usability, reflecting a lack of proper maintenance.

  • Inconsistent Rule Enforcement: The observation that "another house being allowed to open a wedding tent, even though the house owner had told us we couldn't because of the community's rules" points to inconsistent and potentially unfair rule enforcement, leading to significant dissatisfaction.

Therefore, while the property offers physical amenities, the overwhelmingly negative "highlights" related to management, privacy, and facility maintenance make it a highly problematic choice for potential guests.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For us living in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, the decision of where to stay or host an event locally is typically driven by convenience, comfort, and a good experience. While Homestay@137, Taman Melati, Kuala Lumpur, offers certain practical aspects like its location and basic amenities, the overwhelming consensus from customer reviews strongly suggests that this place is not suitable for locals, especially for hosting events or if privacy is valued.

The core reasons for its unsuitability, as voiced by multiple unsatisfied guests, revolve around critical issues that directly contradict the expectations of a pleasant stay or successful event. The presence of "CCTV cameras inside the house without informing the tenants" and the owner's alleged "spying" and "micromanage" are severe breaches of privacy and trust. For locals seeking a private space to relax or gather, such intrusive oversight is unacceptable and creates a highly uncomfortable environment. This fundamentally undermines the appeal of a "private guest room."

Furthermore, the inconsistent and prohibitive stance on hosting events, as described by guests who were "suddenly forbade" from setting up a wedding tent despite prior discussions, makes Homestay@137 highly unreliable for any planned celebrations or parties. This directly contradicts the common local need for a flexible space to host family gatherings or social events. The explicit warning from reviews, "Please don't go here, or you will regret it," is a powerful indicator of this unsuitability.

Added to these major concerns are the complaints about the owner's "rude" and "complaining" demeanor, coupled with "broken facilities" like sliding doors, toilet locks, and clogged sinks. These issues collectively point to a lack of professional management, proper maintenance, and guest-centric service, which are fundamental for any reputable accommodation.

While the location in Taman Melati offers good accessibility to public transport and local amenities, these advantages are overshadowed by the significant operational and relational issues highlighted by past guests. For us locals, who prioritize a respectful, comfortable, and problem-free experience, Homestay@137, based on the provided feedback, falls far short of what would be considered suitable or recommendable. It is vital to prioritize guest well-being and clear communication, which appear to be severely lacking here. It is highly advisable for prospective local guests to seek alternative accommodations that can genuinely provide the privacy, comfort, and reliable service expected for a truly positive stay in Kuala Lumpur.
