Jaya Shopping Centre Introduce
Welcome to Jaya Shopping Centre, a well-known retail destination nestled in the heart of Petaling Jaya, Selangor. For many locals, this mall isn't just a place to shop; it's a part of their community, a familiar space that has evolved over the years to meet the needs of residents. Reopened in 2014 after a significant redevelopment, Jaya Shopping Centre strives to offer a "better, brighter, and bolder" experience, bringing back fond memories for older generations while embracing the energy of today's shoppers.
While some may note that certain fashion, digital, and furniture stores have closed or that some areas might be quieter than others, Jaya Shopping Centre remains a functional and convenient spot for various errands and leisure activities. It's particularly appreciated for its practical offerings, making it a reliable choice for everyday necessities and a casual day out.
Jaya Shopping Centre boasts a strategic location in Section 14, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, making it easily accessible for residents across various affluent suburbs in the area. Its address is a familiar landmark for many:
Jalan 14/17, Seksyen 14, 46100 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
The mall is well-connected by major roads and highways, ensuring a smooth journey whether you're driving or using public transport. While specific public transport routes directly to Jaya Shopping Centre might require a short walk or a connecting ride, its central position in Petaling Jaya means it's generally well-served by the local transit network. For those driving, the mall provides ample parking with four basement floors, accommodating over 780 vehicles, which is a definite plus in a busy urban area like Petaling Jaya.
Jaya Shopping Centre focuses on providing essential services and everyday conveniences, making it a practical choice for local residents. Here's a look at what you can find:
- Supermarket: The lower ground (LG) floor houses a popular Jaya Grocer, which is often bustling with shoppers picking up their daily groceries. This is a significant draw for many, offering a wide array of fresh produce, local and imported goods, and household essentials.
- Food & Beverage: The LG floor is also a hub for food and beverage outlets. You can find a selection of restaurants and cafes catering to various tastes, from local delights to international fast food. There's also a vegetarian restaurant available for those with specific dietary preferences.
- Cinema: For entertainment, Jaya Shopping Centre features an eight-screen cineplex (TGV Cinemas) on its top floor, making it a popular spot for moviegoers looking to catch the latest blockbusters.
- Banking Services: A CIMB bank branch and ATM are conveniently located on the first floor, providing easy access to banking services.
- Home Improvement: For your home needs, you'll find an ACE Hardware and MR. D.I.Y. on the third and fourth floors, offering a range of tools, hardware, and DIY essentials.
- Health & Wellness: The mall also includes pharmacies and beauty/wellness spas, addressing daily health and personal care needs.
- Mobile and Electronics: There are stores offering mobile phones and gadgets for those looking for new tech or accessories.
- Kids and Toys: A selection of children's toy and gift shops can be found within the mall.
- Other Specialty Stores: While some fashion and digital stores may have changed, the mall still hosts a variety of specialty retailers.
Jaya Shopping Centre, while not the newest or most glamorous mall in Selangor, holds its own with several key features that appeal to its local demographic:
- Community-Centric Atmosphere: The mall has long been dubbed "the neighbourhood retail centre," carrying a strong sense of nostalgia and association with the local community, especially for those who grew up in Petaling Jaya.
- Convenient Essentials: The presence of a well-stocked Jaya Grocer and essential services like pharmacies, banks, and home improvement stores makes it a go-to spot for daily needs, reducing the need to travel further afield.
- Cineplex for Entertainment: The TGV Cinemas on the top floor provides a consistent entertainment option, drawing in visitors specifically for movie outings. This ensures a steady flow of people, particularly during evenings and weekends.
- Easy Navigation: The mall's layout is designed for ease of movement, offering a comfortable shopping experience with clear visibility of shops, as noted by some past reviews.
- Ample Parking: With four levels of basement parking, visitors generally find it convenient to park their vehicles, even during busier periods.
- Varied Dining Options: From quick bites to more substantial meals, the mall offers a decent range of F&B choices, ensuring there's something for everyone, whether it's a casual lunch or a family dinner.
Like most shopping centres, Jaya Shopping Centre and its tenants frequently run promotions and special offers to attract shoppers. While specific, always-on mall-wide promotions aren't widely advertised, individual stores and the anchor supermarket are known for their deals.
- Jaya Grocer Promotions: Jaya Grocer regularly updates its promotions, offering discounts on fresh produce, groceries, and household items. Checking their in-store flyers or online platforms is recommended for the latest deals.
- Tenant-Specific Promotions: Individual retailers, particularly F&B outlets and occasional fashion/specialty stores, will often have their own promotions. For instance, food establishments might offer meal deals, while electronics stores might have seasonal discounts. It's always a good idea to look out for banners or check with individual stores when you visit.
- Seasonal and Festive Sales: During major festive seasons like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, or Christmas, you can expect various tenants to participate in special sales and events, providing opportunities for savings on a wider range of products.
For the most up-to-date information on current promotions, it's advisable to check the official Jaya Shopping Centre website (if available and regularly updated), their social media channels, or simply visit the mall and look for promotional displays and signage.

Jaya Shopping Centre, while it might not boast the sheer volume of high-end fashion or extensive digital stores that some newer mega-malls do, remains a highly suitable and practical destination for locals in Selangor, particularly those in Petaling Jaya. Its enduring appeal lies in its commitment to serving as a true neighbourhood retail centre.
For everyday needs, the presence of Jaya Grocer is a significant advantage, providing a convenient and well-stocked option for groceries and fresh produce. The variety of food and beverage outlets, including casual dining options and a vegetarian restaurant, ensures that residents have convenient choices for meals and snacks without having to venture far from home. The TGV Cinemas offers a reliable entertainment option, making it an easy choice for a movie night with family or friends.
Furthermore, the inclusion of essential services like a bank, a pharmacy, and home improvement stores like ACE Hardware and MR. D.I.Y., means that many errands can be completed efficiently in one trip. This focus on utility and convenience saves time and effort for busy individuals and families.
While some past reviews highlight quieter sections or fewer fashion options, it's important to view Jaya Shopping Centre through the lens of a community hub rather than a sprawling, all-encompassing lifestyle mall. It's a place where you can comfortably get your groceries, grab a quick meal, watch a movie, and pick up essential household items. Its accessibility and familiar atmosphere make it a comforting and practical choice for residents who value convenience and a sense of local belonging. Jaya Shopping Centre continues to be a relevant and valuable part of the Petaling Jaya landscape, catering to the daily rhythms of local life.

Jaya Shopping Centre Reviews
Pretty much dead. Most fashion, digital and furniture store are closed. People only came here to watch movie at the top floor. Only LG floor and G floor have stores to visit. And then ACE and DIY at 3 and 4 floor.
Jul 19, 2023 · Hikari PNormal shopping mall. Only busy on LG for grocery and F&B. CIMB at first floor. also have some restaurants about third floor and vegetarian restaurant. TGV on top found one cafe on top but unfortunately last day at 14-3-24..
Mar 14, 2024 · Cs LiongDoes shopping malls hype slowly declining? High on rental. Lack attraction. Too big to explore. Expensive parking rate. Jaya SC is definitely one of the contenders of failure shopping malls. Maybe not on weekdays but the sign is there. Only G,1 and 5th level buzzing with customers but what about the rest? Empty shop, half open shop, or even there's any customer walks by. It's an enormous mall and organized but still this mall failed to cope with all the vacant and unattended crowd. The management needs to revamp the mall concept ASAP. Day by day Jaya SC will slowly drown in the race of Petaling Jaya top shopping malls.
Aug 31, 2023 · Hafiz HussinVisited June 2022Sad to see that the mall is relatively empty to the extent that some major tenants have left. Eateries are still doing good though.Aisles are wide enough to be relaxing to walk. Sunroof provide good natural sunlight
Jun 16, 2022 · Piotr LeongQuiet is the word for this shopping centre which was one of the very first in Selangor in the 1970's. I used to hang out there after primary and secondary school. It 4 levels of basement car park. The lower ground floor has few fast food outlets, some health and beauty outlets, a supermarket etc. There is a TGV Cinema on the level 6. Level 7 has a small but vacant food court and the management office. The old established University Bookstore is on level 3. There is a DIY and Ace Hardware shop. Many vacant shop lots. Even the popular Farmers market restaurant has closed down.
