Ong Ong Chicken Rice • 旺城驰名滑鸡 Reviews
I liked how the place looks new, is air-conditioned and offers a comfortable dine in experience. Parking here can be challenging so it's best to plan your visits or exercise some patience. I got their steamed chicken with rice, a bowl of their recommended Ipoh kai si hor fun, signature iced coffee and egg tart. The steamed chicken was commendable. The meat was moist and tender whereas the soy sauce complimented it very well. There were blood present in the chicken which didn't bother me but it might for some. While the chicken skin wasn't the kind where it's fatty and plumpy, it still managed to deliver a decent taste. The chilli sauce was actually quite nice and hit a good spot. The rice was fragrant enough but the highlight for me was the kai si hor fun. I personally enjoyed the rich and flavorful broth that had the sweetness and aroma of shrimps. However, I felt that the hor fun was abit coarse in texture and lacked that smooth and bouncy texture that I love from a good bowl of Ipoh hor fun. The iced coffee did not have that smooth velvety richness but was passable and so was the egg tart.Update: I came back again for their kai sii hor fun because that was the highlight in my last visit. Sure enough, the broth did not disappoint. Flavorful and sweet with noticeable shrimp aroma. The hor fun wasn't the bouncy kind but it no longer had that coarse texture which I disliked in my past visit. This time around I ordered the kampung chicken. The meat texture had that nice firmness to it and I thought it was decent.Update: I gave their char siew and siew yoke and try. Sadly both were below my expectations. The char siew lacked that caramelisation and the charry goodness. The meat was lean and chewy. The siew yoke was nothing to shout about either. Some of the siew yoke were also rather dry and chewy. The saving grace here was the fragrant rice which came with nice aroma. The chilli and ginger condiments helped to enhance the flavors somewhat. I would suggest to stick with their chicken hor fun soup and steamed chicken.
Apr 05, 2025 · Boon Leong ChongGood service, awesome menu. Chicken rice lovers must eat here. I had Ipoh Hor Fun - silky smooth noodles. Lots of chunks (not strips) of chicken breast meat. There’s veggies selection too. And eggs!I had 2 half boiled eggs and Ipoh Hor Fun. The chicken rice looked so good - wanna come here for that next time.Parking can be tricky, but I came here to eat while waiting for my car to be fixed - good ambiance - chill and relaxed, not stuffy at all.Nice lighting. Love it.Super reasonably priced compared to so many other chicken rice out there.
Apr 26, 2025 · Vickey ChenService was very slow even though it was not overly crowded. Had to wait 30 mins for meal to be served. Ordered the chicken drumstick with dry hor fun. The hor fun was too salty and the chicken drumstick was not warm. And the drumstick was just a very small piece plus They didn’t heat it up. So warm hot fun with cold small piece drumstick. The ‘vegetable feet’ was too spicy and flat and the vege pieces were too big bcoz they did not bother to cut it accordinglyThe char siew is so so hard to chew and dry.Environment is comfortable but too bad about the food.Got so thirsty after having the meal
Mar 06, 2025 · andy leeCafe style chicken rice shop. The boss is a man of little words. The chicken meat is smooth, but not strong on the taste of chicken. Comes with nice condiments - garlic ginger mix and chili sauce. The coconut chicken soup is a hearty option with two pieces of chicken inside and lots of goji berries. The signature iced coffee is far from what it looks in the menu - sans the froth, but it's pretty good kopi.
Jan 11, 2025 · William NgThe steamed chicken rice tastes nice. No roasted chicken appears to be available. Side dishes are also delicious. It is reasonably priced.a restaurant of ordinary size. Parking could be a problem, particularly during busy times. Service: Since I visited on a Sunday and had to wait thirty minutes for chicken rice, I'm not quite happy. One of their bad days, most likely. It would be fantastic if the employees could seem happy and smile. You can try it, then, if you enjoy chicken rice.
