Royale Chulan The Curve Introduce
When you're looking for a hotel in the bustling urban hub of Selangor, especially around areas like Petaling Jaya and Mutiara Damansara, location is often the first thing that comes to mind. If you're a local resident planning a staycation or a visitor from another state looking for a convenient base, Royale Chulan The Curve is a name you've likely come across. This hotel is known for its highly strategic location, directly connected to one of the most popular lifestyle and shopping destinations in the Klang Valley, The Curve.
The hotel aims to provide a comfortable stay, offering a range of services for both leisure and business travellers. While its 'classic' style might appeal to some, it's essential to understand what you can expect from this establishment. We’ll delve into the details to help you decide if it’s the right fit for your needs.
The biggest advantage of Royale Chulan The Curve is undoubtedly its location. The address is 6, Jln PJU 7/3, Mutiara Damansara, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. This prime spot places the hotel right in the heart of the bustling Mutiara Damansara commercial hub.
The hotel is directly linked to The Curve shopping mall, which means you have immediate access to a wide array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. You can easily walk to IKEA Damansara, IPC Shopping Centre, and Lotus's Mutiara Damansara. This seamless connectivity is a massive plus, as you don't need to drive or hail a ride to find things to do or places to eat.
In terms of public transport, the Mutiara Damansara MRT station is just a short walk away, making it incredibly convenient for guests to travel to other parts of Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, and beyond. This excellent accessibility is a major factor for locals who rely on public transportation or want to avoid traffic and parking hassles.
Based on the provided information, the hotel offers a range of services, with some aspects being more well-received than others.
- Food & Beverage: The hotel provides a breakfast buffet that is reportedly well-prepared and offers a good variety of traditional Malay dishes, catering well to the local palate. This is a definite highlight for many guests.
- Efficient Check-in: Guests have appreciated the quick and efficient check-in process, which is a great start to any stay, especially after a long journey.
- Staff Service: The staff at the hotel are described as friendly, accommodating, and well-intentioned. Service requests are handled promptly, which is a positive aspect of the guest experience.
However, it is important to note some service-related policies that may be considered unusual:
- Paid Parking: In-house guests are required to pay for parking, which is an uncommon policy compared to many other hotels where this service is complimentary for guests.
- Charges for Amenities: There are additional charges for extra amenities like towels or blankets (around RM5-RM10). This can feel "unnecessarily inconvenient and rather stingy" for guests expecting these items to be included in their room rate.
While the hotel's location is a key feature, its physical condition is a recurring point of feedback.
- Exceptional Location: As mentioned, the hotel's location is its strongest selling point. Its direct connection to The Curve shopping mall provides unparalleled convenience and access to a massive F&B and retail hub.
- Food Quality: The breakfast spread, particularly the traditional Malay dishes, is a highlight. For local guests, this is a great way to start the day with familiar and delicious flavours.
- Friendly Staff: The hotel staff's helpful and accommodating nature is a consistent positive, making service requests smooth and efficient.
On the other hand, a few notable features reflect the hotel's need for maintenance:
- Outdated and Neglected Condition: The hotel's physical state is a significant concern for many guests. The property is described as outdated and in desperate need of refurbishment.
- Maintenance Issues: Visible signs of neglect include peeling wallpaper, stained carpets, damaged bed frames, and a general lack of cleanliness, with visible dust. These issues can make the room feel uncomfortable and unhygienic.
- Lack of In-Room Phones: Rooms reportedly lack internal phones, requiring guests to use an external line or a WhatsApp line for requests. This can be an inconvenience, especially if you need to contact the reception urgently.

For locals in Selangor, particularly those in Petaling Jaya, Royale Chulan The Curve presents a classic case of location versus condition. Its prime spot in Mutiara Damansara is a huge plus, offering effortless access to shopping, dining, and entertainment without the need for a car. The hotel’s breakfast is also a pleasant highlight, catering well to local tastes. The staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, ensuring that basic service requests are handled well.
However, the feedback on the hotel’s maintenance and policies is a significant consideration. The property is in clear need of renovation, and the extra charges for parking and amenities may come across as unexpected.
Ultimately, if your priority is a fantastic location with direct access to a shopping mall and public transport, and you're comfortable with a property that has seen better days, this hotel could still be a viable choice. It's suitable for a short staycation where you plan to spend most of your time outside the room, taking advantage of the surrounding area. However, if the condition of the room and complimentary amenities are important factors for your comfort, it might be wise to manage your expectations before booking your stay.

Royale Chulan The Curve Reviews
The only good thing I can say about the hotel is that its location is very nice. Other than that, everything else is below average. I can also say that the employees are well-intentioned and helpful, but it was a bad experience for us. The rooms are bad, the wallpaper is peeling off. There is no phone in the rooms. We had to call the hotel's external line to tell them that the TV was not working. When no one came for hours, we went to the reception and complained, and we learned that they used the Whats Up line instead of the phone line. The breakfast was also below average. The breakfast is aimed at local customers. As a result, I was not satisfied.
Jun 18, 2025 · ali bozI stayed at this hotel for two nights and overall, I would describe the experience as quite average. The highlights of my stay were definitely the food and the service from the staff. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of traditional Malay dishes, all of which were flavourful and well-prepared. The staff were generally friendly and accommodating, and service requests were handled promptly. Check-in was also quick and efficient which I appreciated after a long day of travel. However, there were several disappointing aspects that overshadowed the positives. First and foremost, the hotel seems to charge guests for almost everything. There is no complimentary parking even in-house guests are required to pay for it. Additionally, any extra amenities such as towels or blankets come with a charge of around RM5–RM10, which is quite unusual compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at. It felt unnecessarily inconvenient and rather stingy for a hotel of this supposed calibre.Another major issue is the condition of the hotel itself. While it may have once been considered ‘classic’, it now feels outdated and neglected. The entire property is in desperate need of refurbishment. The wallpaper in my room was peeling, the carpet and flooring were stained and the bed frame had visible damage. It’s clear that maintenance has been long overlooked. This seems to be a recurring theme across the Royale Chulan hotel chain. There appears to be a reluctance to invest in proper renovation and upkeep, and it shows. Some properties, like Royale Chulan The Curve, have deteriorated to the point where regular maintenance no longer suffices. Major renovations are urgently needed. Cleanliness was also questionable during my stay, with visible dust throughout the room, making the space feel uncomfortable and unhygienic. In conclusion, while the staff and food provided a pleasant touch to the experience, the overall condition and policy of the hotel leave much to be desired. I hope the management seriously considers investing in renovations and better upkeep before these properties fall further into decline.
Jun 18, 2025 · Imran Haziq Bin Khairul AnuarStayed for a week at this fabulous hotel based on a recommendation from a niece. The location was fantastic as it had covered pathways to shops, eateries, the Fitness First gym and the MRT. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and most helpful. Mia Sarah at reception and the lady at housekeeping were noted examples of excellent services. As my flight was at 2 am, I had a late checkout at 6 pm. Planning on staying at this place in May this year and every visit to Malaysia. Chuck Lee from Sydney

May 21, 2025 · Nazrul AnwarA recommended choice for stay while in Damansara area. Price are fair. Room are spacious and clean. Breakfast are poor, and need more International standards menu variations also better taste. Very strategic location, connected with The Curve and prominent shoppings and hype culinary spot.
