- Set Meals: A significant highlight is their offering of affordable set meals, such as the "set with fish" for as low as RM38 for two people. These sets are designed to provide a complete and satisfying meal at a budget-friendly price point, often including a main dish, rice, and possibly side dishes.
- Variety of Dishes: The menu extends to include various categories such as:

- "Kerabu" (salads)

- Affordable Pricing: A key aspect of their service is providing good food at competitive and affordable prices, making it a popular choice for daily dining among locals.
Selera Utara Cafe is recognized for several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal among locals in Kuala Lumpur:
- Affordable and Value-for-Money Meals: This is arguably the strongest highlight. The cafe is noted for its very reasonable pricing, especially for its set meals. The mention of a "set with fish as low as RM38 for 2 people" truly stands out in Kuala Lumpur's dining scene, offering substantial savings for diners. This makes it an excellent choice for budget-conscious individuals and families.
- Generous Portion Sizes: Customer feedback often emphasizes the "big portion" of food served. This ensures diners feel full and satisfied, which is a significant factor for those looking for a hearty meal. This contrasts positively with places that might offer smaller servings for similar prices.
- "Big Taste" and Flavorful Dishes: Despite some mixed reviews on specific dishes not meeting "Utara" expectations, one prominent review highlights that the "place has a big taste" and "food is good and tasty." This indicates that many dishes are well-received for their flavor profile, appealing to a broad local palate.
- Diverse Menu with Regional Flair: While the name might be misleading for some, the actual menu offers a wide variety of Malaysian dishes, with a leaning towards Kelantanese and Terengganu cuisines. This diversity means there's a dish for almost every preference, from various Nasi Goreng options to different types of noodles, soups, and traditional "kampung" style dishes like Daging Goreng Kunyit or Paprik.
- Suitable for Casual Dining: The cafe's atmosphere is generally conducive to casual meals. It's a no-frills, straightforward eatery perfect for daily lunches, dinners, or quick eats with friends and family without needing a reservation or adhering to a strict dress code.
- Accessibility in Desa Pandan: Located in the well-known Desa Pandan area, the cafe is easily accessible for residents in the vicinity and surrounding areas of Kuala Lumpur, adding to its convenience as a local dining spot.
- Options for Different Preferences: With categories ranging from "Sayur" (vegetables) to "Ayam" (chicken), "Daging" (beef), and "Seafood," the menu caters to various dietary preferences and cravings, ensuring that groups can find something for everyone.
While specific, regularly advertised promotions are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, the key "special offer" or ongoing value proposition of Selera Utara Cafe lies in its inherent pricing structure and set meal offerings.
- Affordable Set Meals: The most significant "promotion" is the availability of very affordable set meals, such as the "set with fish for as low as RM38 for 2 people." This pricing strategy provides exceptional value for money, making it an attractive option for couples, families, and friends looking for a budget-friendly yet satisfying meal. This in itself acts as a continuous special offer compared to the general dining costs in Kuala Lumpur.
- Generous Portions at Low Prices: The consistent feedback about "big portions" at cheap prices effectively functions as an ongoing promotion. Customers feel they are getting more value for their money, which can be more impactful than temporary discounts.
It is common for local eateries to offer unadvertised daily specials or adjust their menu pricing to remain competitive. Customers might discover new "promotions" simply by visiting the cafe or checking their daily specials board. For more specific, time-limited promotions, it would be advisable for interested diners to:
- Visit the Cafe Directly: Check for any physical signage or daily specials boards that might announce promotions.
- Follow Social Media: If Selera Utara Cafe has a social media presence (e.g., Facebook, Instagram), they might announce promotions there. (No specific social media links were provided in the initial data, so this is a general suggestion.)
- Call Ahead: A quick call using the provided contact numbers might yield information on any current deals.

Selera Utara Cafe Reviews
i really don’t understand why its name selera utara when they literally serve food from kelantan and terengganu. ordered bihun sup, thinking it was gonna be like the utara ones, but then i received a bland soup with veggies and chicken with normal bihun. nothing like bihun sup utara. i asked for sambal kicap to spice up the soup but they didn’t have that either. my friend ordered beef paprik that costed RM7.50 with only 4-5 pieces sliced beef !!? ridiculous. the veggies to beef ratio in the paprik was like 2:5 . and it was not even that good.
Sep 30, 2023 · cherrynei just tried my luck this time due to being hungry to skip my lunch for a big dinner.. unexpectedly this place has a big taste.. food is good and tasty. portion is big enough and the set meal is cheap for us.. set with fish is as low rm38 for 2 people.. im full and satisfied. congratulation owner
Oct 08, 2023 · i am wat i amOrdered foodpanda for ayam goreng kunyit. Instead we got Nasi goreng ayam goreng kunyit. We don't consume nasi for the time being for health reason, that was why we ordered only the ayam goreng kunyit. And make things worse, the nasi goreng is 3/4, more than the portion of ayam goreng kunyit! When I tried to rate the restaurant via the foodpanda, it was already shut from comments. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Will never order from the same restaurant again!
May 10, 2022 · Mazura Mahtarroadside stall alongside a very busy road with some dining table just barely a few feet from motorbike, cars and buses whizzing past you. you probably need insurance coverage to come & eat here. The food is not bad... (not excellent either).... portion size is also average. An average eatery ......nothing really stands out to highlight.
