Surau Al Ikhlas Introduce
Assalamualaikum and welcome, fellow residents of Selangor! When it comes to finding a peaceful and well-maintained place of worship within our community, Surau Al Ikhlas in Bukit Jelutong stands out as a true gem. More than just a prayer space, this surau has been serving the local Muslim community for nearly three decades, evolving into a cherished hub for spiritual reflection and communal gatherings. Its commitment to providing a clean, well-cared-for environment for worshippers truly makes it a comforting presence in our daily lives.
Whether you're looking for a quiet moment for your daily prayers, seeking a place for your children to learn more about Islam, or simply want to connect with your neighbours in a spiritual setting, Surau Al Ikhlas offers a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Let's delve deeper into what makes this local musolla so special for us, the people of Selangor.
Surau Al Ikhlas is conveniently located at 4, Jalan Rabung U8/36, Bukit Jelutong, 40150 Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Nestled within the residential area of Bukit Jelutong, it's easily accessible for many living in and around Shah Alam. Its position within a residential neighbourhood makes it a truly local surau, serving the immediate community with ease.
For those driving, the surau is generally easy to reach. However, as noted by some visitors, during peak prayer times, parking directly in front of the foyer can sometimes be a challenge, so it's always good to be mindful and consider alternative parking spots nearby if needed. For ladies, accessing the prayer zone might require a little guidance, as one visitor mentioned the side entrance from the main road. It's always a good idea to look for clear signage or ask a friendly congregant if you're unsure about the best entrance for the ladies' section. Its integration into the residential fabric of Bukit Jelutong means that for many, it’s just a short walk or drive away, making regular visits highly convenient.
While a surau's primary function is as a place of prayer, Surau Al Ikhlas, like many community suraus in Selangor, typically offers a range of services that cater to the spiritual and social needs of its congregants. Based on the common practices of local suraus and the community nature of Surau Al Ikhlas, we can expect the following:
- Daily Prayers (Solat Fardhu): This is the core service, providing a dedicated and clean space for Muslims to perform their five daily prayers in congregation.
- Friday Prayers (Solat Jumaat): As a key weekly gathering, Friday prayers are undoubtedly a central event, fostering community unity and delivering important religious sermons.
- Religious Classes and Lectures (Kuliah): Many suraus, especially those serving a residential community, host regular religious classes for various age groups, covering topics like Quranic recitation, Fiqh, Hadith, and Islamic ethics. It is common for suraus to invite local ustaz and ustazahs to deliver kuliah maghrib or subuh.
- Children's Islamic Education: It’s highly probable that Surau Al Ikhlas facilitates basic Islamic education for children, perhaps through regular weekend classes or occasional workshops, providing a foundational understanding of Islam for the younger generation.
- Iftar during Ramadan: During the holy month of Ramadan, many suraus organize communal iftar sessions, allowing the community to break their fast together, strengthening bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood.
- Tarawih Prayers during Ramadan: Special nightly Tarawih prayers are a hallmark of Ramadan in suraus across Selangor, and Surau Al Ikhlas would undoubtedly be a focal point for these congregational prayers.
- Funeral Services (Talkin and Janazah prayers): Surau Al Ikhlas likely provides support and facilities for funeral prayers (solat jenazah) and related services for deceased community members.
- Community Gatherings and Events: Beyond formal religious services, suraus often serve as a venue for various community-led events, such as celebrations, charity drives, or social gatherings.
- Qurban Facilitation: During Eid al-Adha, it is common for suraus to facilitate Qurban arrangements for the community.
Surau Al Ikhlas stands out for several admirable features that contribute to its role as a welcoming and functional community hub:
- Well-Maintained Facility: Despite being almost three decades old, the surau is remarkably well-maintained. This dedication to cleanliness and upkeep ensures a pleasant and conducive environment for worship and community activities. Visitors consistently praise its cleanliness, indicating a high standard of care by the committee.
- Residential Musolla: Its classification as a "residential musolla" highlights its deep integration into the local neighbourhood. This means it's easily accessible for residents, fostering a strong sense of community ownership and frequent usage by those living nearby.
- Dedicated and Responsive Committee: The positive feedback about the surau being "well taken care of" suggests a proactive and dedicated committee. Their efforts in maintaining the surau contribute significantly to the positive experience of congregants.
- Peaceful Atmosphere: As a place of worship, its well-kept nature naturally contributes to a serene and peaceful atmosphere, allowing for focused prayer and contemplation.
- Proximity to Local Amenities: Being situated in Bukit Jelutong, the surau is likely close to other local amenities, making it convenient for residents to integrate their visits to the surau with other daily errands. It is within walking distance to local schools, further enhancing its role as a community anchor.
However, feedback also points to areas for improvement, particularly concerning the ladies' prayer zone. The current setup, described as "claustrophobic with tall dark timber panels in a small space," and the lack of a clear view of the front saf (prayer rows), indicates a need for enhancement. An openable glass tinted window or the removal of solid tall partitions would significantly improve comfort and connectivity for female worshippers.
As a local surau, Surau Al Ikhlas typically does not offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional business sense. Its value lies in the spiritual and communal benefits it provides. However, in the spirit of community support and engagement, we can highlight ongoing or occasional initiatives that benefit the congregants and the wider community:
- Donation and Waqf Opportunities: Surau Al Ikhlas would regularly accept donations (infaq and sedekah) from the community to support its operations, maintenance, and various religious and educational programs. These opportunities are a form of ongoing "offer" to the community to earn blessings through charity. Many suraus now facilitate cashless donations via DuitNow QR, making it easier for congregants to contribute.
- Free Religious Classes: The religious classes and lectures offered by the surau are often free of charge, providing invaluable spiritual education and guidance to the community as a "special offer" of knowledge.
- Community Welfare Programs: Surau Al Ikhlas may initiate or support welfare programs, such as food drives for the needy, assistance for local families, or fundraising for specific charitable causes, which can be seen as a promotional aspect of its community service.
- Iftar and Eid Celebrations: The communal Iftar during Ramadan and Eid celebrations (like Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers) are "special offers" of shared joy and togetherness, open to all community members.
- Invited Guest Speakers: Occasionally, the surau might host renowned local or international Islamic scholars for special talks and lectures, which are significant "events" for community spiritual enrichment.
It is always advisable to check the surau’s notice board or any official communication channels for specific announcements regarding upcoming programs, donation drives, or community initiatives.

Addressing these minor points would undoubtedly enhance the experience even further, reinforcing its commitment to all worshippers.

Surau Al Ikhlas Reviews
An almost three-decade-old Surau, yet remarkably well maintained. However, please be mindful of cars haphazardly parked in front of the foyer—as if it were their last prayer.
Mar 11, 2025 · Ryzal IbrahimI like this place, a residential Musolla, clean and well taken care of. Good job to the committee. We came from the side entrance from the main road. There is no signage for ladies entrance, until I met someone, he told me I could go to the left, side of the building instead of all the way around the building. Be good if they can remove the solid tall partition to the ladies praying zone even with an openable glass tinted window, we still need visual of the front saf. Feels claustrophobic with tall dark timber panels in a small space.
