The Campus Ampang Introduce
In the bustling landscape of Selangor, where modern developments continuously shape our urban lives, a truly unique concept has emerged, redefining what a "shopping mall" can be. We're talking about The Campus Ampang, a groundbreaking project that has ingeniously repurposed a former international school into a vibrant, multi-purpose community-commercial space. This isn't just another shopping complex; it's a refreshing hub that blends retail, dining, art, and community activities, offering a distinct alternative to the traditional mall experience.
For many of us living in Selangor, the idea of a shopping mall often conjures images of massive, enclosed spaces designed primarily for retail therapy. However, The Campus Ampang breaks this mould entirely. It embodies a shift towards more intimate, experiential environments that cater to our immediate needs while fostering a strong sense of belonging and connection within the local community. The transformation has been met with widespread enthusiasm, as locals appreciate the innovative approach to urban development and the creation of a much-needed communal gathering spot.
What makes The Campus Ampang truly special is its thoughtfully curated selection of offerings. Instead of endless rows of mainstream brands, you'll discover a delightful variety of independent eateries, charming small retail shops, cozy cafes, intriguing art galleries, and unique artisan kiosks. There's also the essential convenience of a well-stocked supermarket, making it a practical destination for everyday needs as well as leisure. The atmosphere here is designed for relaxation and enjoyment, with open, green spaces that invite visitors to linger, socialize, and simply chill out.
Feedback from real customers vividly paints a picture of The Campus Ampang's success. Many have lauded it as a "great way of repurposing a former international school," appreciating the fresh perspective it brings to the commercial landscape. Visitors consistently praise the "variety of eateries, small retail shops, cafes, art galleries, artisan kiosks and a supermarket." The prevailing sentiment is that it's a "nice chill out atmosphere with some open, green spaces," making it a perfect spot for friends and families to gather. The fact that it's now a "community hub rather than an abandoned building" resonates deeply with locals, who are thrilled to see so many people coming together to shop, eat, or simply relax. This continuous evolution, with new shops opening regularly and seasonal events being organised, ensures that The Campus Ampang remains a dynamic and engaging destination for everyone in Selangor.
The Campus Ampang is strategically situated at Lot 7706, Jalan Kolam Air Lama, Mukim, Hulu Kelang, 68000 Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia. This address places it within a well-established residential area, making it highly convenient for locals in Ampang and the surrounding parts of Selangor.
Accessibility to The Campus Ampang is generally straightforward, whether you're driving or considering public transport options. For those navigating by car, Jalan Kolam Air Lama provides a direct route, connecting the hub to major roads and highways in the Ampang area. While customer reviews suggest that more parking lots would be ideal, the existing facilities are generally sufficient, though it might require a bit of patience during peak hours. This minor inconvenience is often outweighed by the overall positive experience of the venue.
When it comes to public transport, direct access by LRT is not available right at its doorstep. The nearest LRT station is Ampang LRT, from which visitors would typically need to take a Grab ride or a 25-minute walk. However, for many locals, especially those in the immediate vicinity, it's a short drive or a convenient Grab trip away. The location within Hulu Kelang also means it's easily reachable from areas like Ukay Perdana, Melawati, and even parts of Cheras, making it a viable destination for a wider segment of Selangor's population.
The charm of The Campus Ampang's location lies in its integration within the community. Unlike large, standalone malls that require a dedicated trip, this hub feels like an extension of the neighbourhood. Its setting amidst local residences contributes to its community-centric vibe, making it a natural choice for spontaneous visits, casual meet-ups, and convenient errands. This blend of accessibility and local integration is a significant factor in its appeal as a cherished community space in Ampang.
The Campus Ampang distinguishes itself by offering a diverse array of services that extend far beyond typical retail. Its unique model as a community-commercial space ensures a rich and varied experience for all visitors.
- Diverse Eateries and Cafes: One of the most celebrated aspects of The Campus Ampang is its wide selection of food and beverage outlets. From full-service restaurants offering various cuisines (such as Spanish tapas, Malaysian-Chinese, and Thai) to casual cafes, bakeries with artisanal bread, and gelato spots, there's something to satisfy every craving. This variety contributes significantly to its appeal as a dining destination.
- Retail Shops and Artisan Kiosks: Unlike conventional malls dominated by large chain stores, The Campus Ampang features a mix of small retail shops and pop-up artisan kiosks. You can find everything from fashion and unique stationery to gadgets and local craft products. The presence of these independent vendors and artisan stalls, which sometimes change daily or seasonally, adds a dynamic and fresh shopping experience.
- Supermarket/Grocer (Qra): The inclusion of a modern neighborhood grocer like Qra is a major convenience for locals. This supermarket offers a curated selection of imported and local goods, fresh produce, high-quality meats, and seafood, along with specialty items and even a made-to-order butchery service. This makes The Campus Ampang a practical stop for daily essentials, elevating the grocery shopping experience.
- Art Galleries and Cultural Spaces: Embracing its transformation into a community and cultural hub, The Campus Ampang hosts art galleries and spaces that foster artistic expression. This adds a unique dimension, allowing visitors to engage with local art and cultural events, enriching their overall experience.
- Community Events and Seasonal Activities: The Campus Ampang regularly organizes seasonal and festive events, pop-up booths, and workshops. These activities contribute to its lively atmosphere and create opportunities for community engagement, making it a dynamic place that constantly offers something new to discover.
- Beauty and Wellness Services: While not extensively detailed, some outlets may offer beauty or wellness services, such as specialized hair spas, adding to the holistic lifestyle offerings within the hub.
- Leisure and Chill-out Spaces: With its open, green spaces and comfortable seating areas, The Campus Ampang provides ample opportunities for visitors to simply relax and unwind. This focus on creating a pleasant atmosphere for chilling out is a key part of its appeal as a community gathering spot.
The combination of these diverse services creates a multifaceted environment where visitors can shop, dine, enjoy art, attend events, and simply relax, all within one distinctive location.
The Campus Ampang boasts several standout features and highlights that set it apart from typical shopping destinations in Selangor, making it a beloved spot for locals.
- Repurposed International School Concept: This is arguably its most defining feature. The transformation of a former international school (ISKL) into a commercial-community space is highly innovative. This adaptive reuse has created a unique architectural and atmospheric backdrop that distinguishes it from purpose-built malls, offering a sense of history blended with modern vibrancy.
- Community Hub Focus: The Campus Ampang isn't just about transactions; it's designed to be a genuine community hub. It fosters a sense of belonging and encourages social interaction. This is evident in its layout, events, and the overall welcoming atmosphere, making it a place where people genuinely enjoy spending time, whether shopping, eating, or just chilling.
- Curated Mix of Tenants: Instead of a generic selection of international chains, The Campus Ampang showcases a thoughtfully curated mix of independent and local businesses. This includes unique eateries like Jibby Chow (Malaysian-Chinese cuisine), Barraca (pork-free Spanish tapas), and specialized dessert spots like Taffy Gelato and Piccoli Lotti. The presence of artisanal brands and a high-quality grocer like Qra further enhances its distinct appeal.
- Open, Green Spaces: A significant highlight is the incorporation of open, green areas. These outdoor spaces provide a refreshing break from enclosed environments, offering a pleasant setting for relaxation, casual strolls, and even outdoor events. This connection to nature contributes to the "chill out atmosphere" praised by visitors.
- Dynamic Pop-up Booths and Events: The constant rotation of pop-up booths and the regular organization of seasonal/festive events ensure that there's always something new to discover. This dynamic element keeps the experience fresh and exciting, encouraging repeat visits and fostering a sense of anticipation among the community.
- Variety of Offerings Beyond Retail: Beyond traditional shopping, The Campus Ampang integrates elements of art, culture, and potentially even fitness (with hints of pilates/yoga studios opening soon). This multi-faceted approach caters to a broader range of interests, making it a holistic lifestyle destination.
- Aesthetic and Welcoming Ambiance: Visitors frequently comment on the refreshing and aesthetically pleasing environment. The design leverages the former school's structure while creating modern, comfortable spaces that are inviting and visually appealing, contributing to a pleasant overall experience.
These features collectively define The Campus Ampang as a pioneering lifestyle destination in Selangor, offering a refreshing and engaging alternative to conventional commercial spaces.
As a dynamic and evolving community hub, The Campus Ampang, along with its various tenants, frequently introduces promotions and special offers to engage visitors and enhance their experience. While specific, fixed, overarching mall-wide promotions are not always publicly listed far in advance, the nature of its businesses suggests a variety of deals are regularly available.
- Individual Tenant Promotions: Given the diverse range of eateries, cafes, and retail shops, individual outlets within The Campus Ampang often run their own promotions. These can include lunch specials at restaurants, happy hour deals at cafes, seasonal discounts on retail items, or loyalty programs for regular customers. For example, the supermarket Qra often has weekly deals on groceries and special offers for its club members.
- Seasonal and Festive Event Specials: The Campus Ampang is known for organizing seasonal and festive events. During these times (e.g., Raya, Christmas, Chinese New Year, or school holidays), visitors can expect special themed promotions, limited-time offerings from vendors, and possibly exclusive discounts or activities tied to the event. Pop-up booths during these events may also offer unique deals.
- New Store Opening Promotions: As a place with "still a lot of shops opening soon" (as noted by a customer review in April), new tenants frequently offer introductory promotions or grand opening deals to attract their first customers. This provides an excellent opportunity to discover new brands and products at a discounted rate.
- Loyalty Programs and Membership Benefits: Some individual stores or the mall itself might have loyalty programs or membership benefits, offering exclusive discounts, points accumulation, or early access to sales for registered members. Qra, for instance, mentions "Qra Club" for exclusive member benefits and rewards.
- Collaborations and Workshops: Beyond direct discounts, some promotions might come in the form of bundled experiences or workshops offered by creative tenants, perhaps at a special introductory price.
To stay informed about the latest promotions and special offers at The Campus Ampang, it is highly recommended to follow their official social media channels, check their official website, or directly visit the mall to see the latest offers posted by individual shops. This proactive approach will ensure you don't miss out on any exciting deals available at this vibrant community hub.

This focus on variety and local flair ensures that every visit offers something new and exciting, from indulging in artisanal gelato to finding unique handcrafted goods.
Moreover, The Campus Ampang's strong emphasis on being a "community hub" resonates deeply with residents. The regular organization of seasonal events, festive activities, and pop-up booths transforms it into a dynamic gathering place. It’s a space where families can spend quality time, friends can chill out over coffee, and individuals can engage with art and culture. This vibrant community spirit combats the feeling of isolation often associated with large cities, fostering connections and a sense of belonging among its visitors. The consistent positive reviews highlighting its "chill out atmosphere" and status as a "community hub" underscore its success in fulfilling this role.
While some might point to minor inconveniences like parking, these are typically overshadowed by the overall unique and fulfilling experience. The Campus Ampang is more than just a place to shop; it's a lifestyle destination that offers a holistic experience, blending convenience, culture, and community. For anyone in Selangor looking for a refreshing alternative to the conventional mall, a place to shop, dine, relax, and connect, The Campus Ampang is undoubtedly the perfect destination. It truly understands and caters to the desires of modern local consumers, making it a beloved and essential part of the Ampang landscape.

The Campus Ampang Reviews
Great way of repurposing a former international school by turning it into a community-commercial space. Love the variety of eateries, small retail shops, cafes, art galleries, artisan kiosks and a supermarket. Nice chill out atmosphere with some open, green spaces. More parking lots will be ideal but that’s a minor inconvenience.
May 09, 2025 · Alice Yong (AliceJomMakan)I love that this place is a community hub now rather than an abandoned building. It’s so refreshing to see how many people came here to shop, eat or even just chilling. Been here 3 times and as of April, there are still a lot of shops opening soon. You can find variety of stuff here from fashion, bakery goods, groceries to gadgets. They have popup booth on daily basis and they also organise seasonal/festive events every now and then.
Apr 24, 2025 · Syaza NabilahA shopping experience with difference. The Campus is located a short distance for. Taman TAR and Ampang Jaya, used to be an international school which is now been converted into a multipurpose space with a number of artisan cloth and craft shop, food eateries, restaurant , art shops. There is a main open air display areas with displace of new cars being sold and clothing with some green quadrangle,Contrasting the green with the brutalist architecture. Most of the shops aren’t unique and not the usual high street selection. It is open air throughout therefore not air condition to like most of the other shopping malls and has a brutalist architectural feel to it.The there are about 20 odd shops on the ground floor, including a supermarket with another 20 or so shops on the first floor. There could be better efficiency of space. This adequate parking space outside-It’s on covered so the car can get mighty hot!
Apr 19, 2025 · Travelling DocI recently visited this place, and I must say, it was a refreshing experience compared to a typical shopping mall. The building itself is beautiful and well designed, with old classic aesthetics that are pleasing to the eye. One of the standout features is the landscaping it’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into creating a green, serene environment.Although there are still quite a few empty shops awaiting renovation, this holds a lot of potential for future businesses. Once fully occupied, this space will offer a vibrant community hub. I was particularly impressed by the amenities being developed, including the swimming pool and football fields. It’s a perfect setup for families and active individuals looking for more than just a place to shop.I really hope they add a pickleball court! That would be such a fun and engaging addition to the space, appealing to people of all ages. What excites me most is the list of shops that will be opening soon. They sound diverse and interesting, and I’m eagerly waiting to try them out once they’re up and running.Overall, I love the atmosphere here. It feels open, airy, and inviting a great alternative to the often-crowded and busy shopping malls. I’m looking forward to watching this community grow and thrive. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re looking for a unique and relaxing shopping experience with added amenities!
Feb 13, 2025 · Naim ZainuddinD Campus, Ampang. For the time being, parking here is open and still free. They will be making it available for payment soon. The building on campus used to be an international school that has moved to I don't know where. Then, so that it doesn't look abandoned, an idea was formed to turn this area into a shopping complex. If you come here, you must feel like you're at a school.Great.. it's just open here. There is no air conditioning, if you want to feel cool, go into any shop or outlet that has air conditioning. There should be air conditioning in this shopping mall. If there isn't, it's really hot. If it's noon, it's not very comfortable to hang out here for a long time. There are many restaurants here to eat and hang out. Many shops are still not open. There is a field area here and at the back there is a side for swimming. Anyone who wants to learn to swim, can come here. This building only has two floors. If you want to take the elevator, you have to go to the back, for those who can't climb stairs. There are plenty of toilets in this shopping mall, don't worry.
