For those in Perak who truly seek to escape the everyday and immerse themselves in the raw beauty of nature, Wham Camp in Tanjong Malim offers an authentic and invigorating camping experience. Unlike highly commercialized campsites, Wham Camp provides a "real wild" environment, appealing to adventurers and nature lovers who are well-equipped and eager for a genuine back-to-nature retreat. Located in Kg Simpang 4 Lama, this campground is a hidden gem for locals looking to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with the natural world, away from the typical comforts of urban life.
Wham Camp is known for its rustic charm and minimalist approach, a direct contrast to glamping sites. This makes it an ideal destination for experienced campers or those ready to embrace the challenges and rewards of a less-facilitated outdoor adventure. Imagine spending your days fishing by the river, and your nights under a blanket of stars, with only the sounds of nature as your soundtrack. It’s an opportunity to test your self-sufficiency and truly appreciate the simplicity of outdoor living. The emphasis here is on the natural surroundings and the activities they afford, rather than extensive amenities.
Reviews from previous visitors highlight the very essence of Wham Camp: a place for those who are "well equipped" and prepared for "bare amenities." This honest portrayal ensures that potential campers know exactly what to expect, allowing them to pack accordingly and embrace the wilderness experience fully. If you're someone who believes that true camping is about roughing it a little and getting close to the elements, then Wham Camp in Tanjong Malim, Perak, might just be your next favorite outdoor escape. This article will delve deeper into what makes Wham Camp unique, its location, the core experiences it offers, and why it's a suitable choice for adventurous locals in Perak.
Wham Camp is nestled at Jln Kg Simpang 4 Lama, Kg Simpang 4 Lama, 35900 Tanjong Malim, Perak, Malaysia. This address places it within a more secluded, rural part of Tanjong Malim, offering the genuine "wild" feel that many campers seek. Tanjong Malim itself is a significant town in Perak, positioned conveniently close to the Selangor border, making Wham Camp accessible not only for Perak residents but also for those from the greater Klang Valley area who are willing to venture a bit further for an authentic experience.
Accessibility to Wham Camp is a key point to note, as highlighted by customer reviews. The "road leading in can be tough for lower clearance cars," indicating that visitors should ideally use vehicles with higher ground clearance, such as SUVs or 4x4s, to ensure a smooth journey. While accessible, the journey adds to the sense of adventure and seclusion, setting the tone for the semi-wild camping experience.
Despite the rustic access road, the overall location within Kg Simpang 4 Lama means you're still within a reasonable drive of Tanjong Malim town center for any last-minute supplies or emergencies. This balance of being "in the wild" yet relatively close to civilization makes Wham Camp an attractive option for those who want an immersive natural experience without being completely isolated. Using GPS or navigation apps to Jalan Kampung Simpang 4 Lama should guide you accurately to the vicinity, and local inquiries can help pinpoint the exact entrance to the campsite.
Wham Camp prides itself on offering a "real wild" camping experience, which translates to a minimalist approach to facilities. This is explicitly mentioned in customer reviews, stating "this place offers bare amenities" and "No facilities" by some, though others like Xplore.my list some basic facilities, suggesting "bare" means minimal rather than non-existent. Based on available information, the services offered are designed for self-sufficient campers:
- Designated Camping Ground: Provides natural ground (dirt/grass) for pitching tents.
- Fishing Opportunities: Known as a good spot for fishing, likely in the nearby river or existing fish ponds within the farm. (Xplore.my confirms "Fishing" as an activity).
- Shared Toilet Facility: There is at least "only a sharing toilet" available, indicating very basic communal sanitation. Xplore.my lists "Toilet" and "Shower".
- River Access: The campsite is located by the "river of Sungai Bernam" (according to Xplore.my), offering opportunities for river-based activities or simply enjoying the water's edge.
- Firepit: Confirmed by Xplore.my as available for campfires and cooking.
- Parking: Parking is available, though caution is advised for lower clearance vehicles on the access road. (Xplore.my confirms "Parking").
- Pet Friendly: Xplore.my lists Wham Farm as "Pet Friendly," a great feature for those who wish to bring their furry companions.
It is crucial for visitors to understand that "bare amenities" means bringing all necessary camping gear, food, water, and personal supplies. The emphasis is truly on self-reliance and connecting with nature.
Wham Camp distinguishes itself through its unique characteristics, appealing to a specific type of outdoor enthusiast in Perak. Here are its key features and highlights:
- "Real Wild" Experience: This is the defining feature. Wham Camp offers an authentic, semi-wild camping environment for those who wish to disconnect from modern conveniences and truly embrace nature.
- Excellent Fishing Spot: Reviews consistently highlight this as a prime location for fishing, making it a dream destination for anglers.

- Secluded and Peaceful Atmosphere: Away from the hustle and bustle, the camp offers a tranquil environment, ideal for relaxation and quiet contemplation.
- Affordable Camping: While specific pricing isn't given in the prompt, basic amenities often translate to more budget-friendly camping fees, making it accessible for more locals. (Xplore.my lists RM30/tent for small, RM60/tent for large).
- Pet-Friendly Environment: A significant highlight for pet owners who want to include their animal companions in their outdoor adventures.
- Unplug and Recharge: With minimal facilities (no plug points, no lights mentioned by some reviews), it forces campers to disconnect from technology and truly immerse themselves in their surroundings.
- Family-Owned Private Orchard: (Based on Xplore.my and Malaysia Camping descriptions) This indicates a more personal and potentially well-maintained natural setting, also noting kelulut bee and fish farms on site.
As a semi-wild, family-owned campground, Wham Camp is unlikely to run extensive commercial promotions in the way larger resorts might. However, like many local campsites, they may offer straightforward pricing structures or occasional deals.
Based on information from Xplore.my, their pricing is:
- RM30 per tent (max 3 pax per tent) - Small tent.
- RM60 per tent (max 6 pax per tent) - Large tent.
Additionally, they offer equipment rental which can be considered a convenient "service" that acts as a special offer for those who don't own all their gear:
- Stove with gas: RM20
- Ice Box: RM5
- Foldable Table + Chairs: RM15
- Ground Sheet: RM5
- Inflatable Bed (Queen): RM15

Wham Camp Reviews
Nice place to camp and fish but you have to well equip as this place offers bare amenities. There's only a sharing toilet. Road lading in can be tough for lower clearance cars
Oct 17, 2022 · Stanley TanYou can feel the real wild.. No facilities
Mar 16, 2023 · Rolis J'kaneExcellent
Mar 08, 2023 · Mohd Yusof MustapaA place that provides a very large land for family recreation and is close to rivers and lakes. Near the lake you can also fish, after catching you can continue to weigh and if you want to return later you can pay. Fish is really good, you don't need to add anything, it's good to eat it plain. The condition of the road to enter here is half road and half off road but cars can enter this area. When it arrives, a pushchair will be prepared to take the brg brg to the campsite. Overall experience at wham farm is the best! His fish is delicious. Guarantee you won't be fishing just once, you have to repeat it hehe
Oct 16, 2022 · Amirul AshrafThe site is okay, not very full of people because the owner of the site limits it. The river is okay, there is part of the pond and part of the rock. It's just that the toilet is a little nicer. Make a small hut for prayer. The road is quite bad to enter if the car is low. Others are okay
