---Bagas Zakariah Orchard Lodge is conveniently situated at 65, Lot 32804, Jln Besar, Kampung Lawan Kuda, 31600 Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia. For those of us familiar with Perak, Gopeng is a charming, historic town famed for its natural attractions, adventure tourism, and rich heritage. The lodge's location in Kampung Lawan Kuda places it perfectly within a traditional kampung setting, offering an authentic local experience.
The accessibility of Bagas Zakariah Orchard Lodge for Perak residents is a significant advantage. If you're traveling from Ipoh, the state capital, Gopeng is just a short and straightforward drive south via the North-South Expressway (PLUS highway) or local roads. For residents coming from other districts within Perak, such as Kampar, Teluk Intan, or Kuala Kangsar, the journey to Gopeng is generally efficient, making this guest house an excellent option for family holidays, weekend getaways, or even a base for exploring the wider Perak region. Gopeng is also well-connected for those traveling from outside Perak, ensuring easy access for visiting relatives or friends.
While the lodge is "just next to main road," which some might perceive as a potential source of noise, many guests, especially those "used to city living," found it "didn't bother me though." This strategic placement allows for incredible convenience, placing you within easy reach of Gopeng's local eateries, convenience stores, and the charming old town area. More importantly, Gopeng is famous as a hub for adventure activities, including white water rafting on the Kampar River and caving at Gua Tempurung. The lodge’s standout feature, a "real river" with "cool and refreshing" water that flows well and ranges from calf to chest height, offers immediate natural enjoyment. The fact that guests "cancelled our outing to Ipoh and decided to stay in, enjoying the river, the pool, and the house" speaks volumes about its allure. ---For us, as Perak locals, Bagas Zakariah Orchard Lodge stands out as an exceptionally suitable and appealing choice for a guest house. Its charm lies in a blend of authentic heritage and thoughtful amenities that directly cater to our preferences for a memorable local getaway. Bagas Zakariah Orchard Lodge Reviews
Highly recommended! Original heritage of the house is still maintained with clean modernised toilets (city ppl always hv toilet concerns when gng holiday 🤭 - approved by my family members who hv toilets concerns 😆) kids enjoyed playing at the stream & nearby pool. They hv their own durian plantation but no durian when I came (June) she said should come in july/August - plenty of durian! There's cafe nearby but they will reopen back selling next month onwards. The place is just next to main road so may be a lil bit disturbing for some but it didn't bother me though.Appreciate & loving this kind of kampung house for a city ppl like me (also who do not hv family who stays in kampung).
Jun 15, 2025 · Noreen SallehWe spent 2 nights at Rumah Lenggong, and it was undoubtedly one of the best staycations we’ve ever had. We were warmly welcomed by Mr. Arie, who explained the venue and its’ facilities to us. We were lucky to be the only family staying there for those two nights, so we could make a little extra noise at night 🤭The highlight of our stay was, of course, the river. We even cancelled our outing to Ipoh and decided to stay in, enjoying the river, the pool, and the house. The house is tastefully yet simply decorated with 2 bedrooms, which can accommodate up to 8 occupants—4 in the rooms and another 4 will have extra mattresses and a day bed provided to be used at the living area.We had a BBQ session on the first night. Just a reminder, bring your own utensils, as they only provide basic ones like plates, cutlery, small bowls, pots, pans, and a few other small kitchen items. They do have a microwave, induction stove, toaster, electric kettle, and a good-sized fridge, but it’s advisable to bring any additional items you might need. I’m not sure whether you can request for extras.I wish we could have stayed longer. The location is very convenient, and the noise from the highway wasn’t too disturbing for us since we’re used to city living. Oh, and the river is a real river, not a small ditch. The water flows well and doesn’t have the foul smell that ditches usually do. The depth ranges from calf to chest height for an adult, and the water is cool and refreshing. We’d love to return in the near future just to rest and relax. It was truly a healing trip for us. I’m not the most eloquent when it comes to describing places, but this was a wonderful and memorable experience!
Sep 22, 2024 · Lisa Shahzywe have a wonderful time staying at bagas zakaria, rumah kuning..the house is so big and beautiful..
Apr 07, 2025 · Gardenia MakersAmazing Deepavali night, kampung style in Rumah Kuning at Bagas Zakaria. Capturing moments with my forever crew. The calm, fresh air brought back childhood memories. Bagas Zakaria is definitely a go to place for family bonding.
Nov 02, 2024 · Rajeswary S RajaratnamMissed the timeline for writing a review on Airbnb, so I'll post it here. Our group of 8 adults stayed in Rumah Lenggong (white house), built in the 1950s! It's a lovely location, set in the middle of a kebun with durian, star fruit, custard apple, mulberry and other fruit trees. We were told we were free to pick and eat any fruits except for the durians. The house is charming - but as it's wooden with lots of air ventilation slats, do expect zero privacy/sound proofness. We could hear every conversation that was done above whisper level 🤣We were taken on a tour of the grounds by the caretaker, Wan, who kindly showed usaround the red house as well. He explained how the white and red houses were moved from their original locations to the current one. The next day, Arie, a descendant of the owner of the original yellow house (1920s!), showed us around the yellow house and gave us lots of history around his ancestral home. Super interesting, definitely try to get him to explain all this to you if you're interested in this kind of historical stuff. It gets chilly at night, but the blankets provided were sufficient for our group. We brought an air mattress, because they only have beds/extra mattresses enough for 7. Come in a group to enjoy the feel of balik kampung. They provided us two free kampung durians which were delicious, and we ordered more kampung+D24 durians at a great price and had a feast! The stream that flows through the property was cool and clear, and we explored upstream as far as we could go.The location is right next to the main trunk road, so it is more noisy than we expected at night as you can hear heavy vehicles roaring along the road. A few mosquitoes outside, so do bring bug repellant when you come.Gopeng town is about 10 mins drive away with quite a few food options there.Definitely something we'd recommend for anyone looking for an authentic kampung experience, with modern amenities.
