Berjaya Redang Resort is located at P.O.Box 126, Main Post Office, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Pulau Redang, 20928 Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. This address clearly places the resort on Pulau Redang, or Redang Island, one of Terengganu's most celebrated island destinations. For locals in Terengganu, Pulau Redang is synonymous with crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant marine ecosystems.
The accessibility of Berjaya Redang Resort is inherently tied to its island location. Reaching Redang Island typically involves taking a ferry or boat transfer from the mainland. The primary jetties for transfers to Redang Island are usually Merang Jetty or Shahbandar Jetty in Kuala Terengganu. Guests would typically arrange their boat transfers to the resort as part of their package or separately. While the address lists a Kuala Terengganu postal box, the physical resort is on the island itself, requiring sea transport.
Once on Redang Island, the resort's specific location offers a notable feature: a "Beautiful private white sandy beach and crystal clear water." This suggests that the resort is situated on its own secluded bay or stretch of beach, providing an exclusive and picturesque environment away from the more crowded areas. Access to other parts of Redang Island, such as Pasir Panjang (the main beach area with more dining options), might require boat transfers, which can be an "extra" cost and "hassle" as noted in a review. This indicates that while the resort offers a private experience, exploring outside the resort premises might involve additional planning and expense. Despite the travel logistics involved in reaching an island, the ultimate reward is the stunning natural beauty that Redang Island is renowned for, making the journey worthwhile for those seeking a true island escape.

Berjaya Redang Resort, as a resort hotel, typically aims to provide a range of services for a complete vacation experience. Based on general resort offerings and insights from provided reviews, here's an overview of potential services:
Accommodation: The core service involves providing rooms for guests. While reviews suggest rooms might be "basic," "dated," and not as "clean as expected," they are still part of the lodging offering.
Food & Beverage: Resorts usually offer dining options. At Berjaya Redang Resort, this includes breakfast, and options for lunch and dinner. However, customer feedback indicates the food quality might be "below average," "repetitive," "unimaginative," "limited, bland, and overpriced." External dining requires a boat to Pasir Panjang, which "costs extra."
Beach Access: A significant service is direct access to a "beautiful private white sandy beach and crystal clear water." This is a primary draw for island resorts, allowing guests to enjoy the pristine natural environment.
Recreational Facilities: Resorts typically offer facilities for leisure. While the review mentions "Facilities are severely lacking and looks worn out," general resort amenities might include a swimming pool, and possibly basic sports facilities, though their upkeep might be a concern.
Housekeeping: Daily room cleaning and maintenance services would be offered. However, one review points to issues with a "constant damp smell" in the bathroom that housekeeping tried to "mask with air freshener," suggesting inconsistency in this service.
Staff Assistance: Staff are available to assist guests with their needs. While some staff were "friendly enough," a review noted they sometimes "felt like they are not well trained and clueless" and "just going through the motions," indicating a mixed level of service quality.
Marine Activities (Potential): Island resorts often facilitate marine activities like snorkeling and diving. Although the Marine Park was "currently closed to protect the corals," the resort would typically be the point of contact for such arrangements when possible. However, the review states the resort "doesn’t help with much" regarding "outside tours."
In-room Amenities: Basic in-room amenities like air conditioning (which a review stated "works great"), and basic bathroom fixtures would be provided, though the condition might be dated.

Berjaya Redang Resort, despite some challenges noted in recent customer reviews, does possess certain features that traditionally define an island resort experience:
Exclusive Private Beach: The most significant highlight is its "Beautiful private white sandy beach and crystal clear water." This is an undeniable natural asset, offering guests direct access to pristine coastal beauty, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the tranquility of the sea. This natural setting is the core appeal of a stay here.
Peaceful Natural Setting: The resort is "surrounded by nature," providing a peaceful and serene environment. For those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, the natural ambiance of the island and the resort's specific location offers a tranquil retreat.
Island Getaway Experience: Being on Redang Island itself is a major feature. Redang is globally recognized for its vibrant marine life and coral reefs, making it a premier destination for snorkeling and diving (when the Marine Park is open). The resort serves as a gateway to experiencing this natural wonder.
Potential for Nature Immersion: The natural surroundings offer opportunities for guests to immerse themselves in the island's ecosystem, perhaps observing local flora and fauna, and enjoying the quietude away from more developed areas.
Air-Conditioned Rooms: One positive note from a review mentioned that the "AC works great" in the rooms. This is an essential comfort feature, ensuring guests can retreat to a cool environment, especially important in Malaysia's tropical climate.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge the concerns raised in recent reviews, which highlight aspects that might be considered drawbacks or areas for improvement, contrary to what one would expect from a resort hotel:
Dated and Neglected Infrastructure: Reviews indicate rooms are "basic," "very dated," and "not as clean as expected." Furniture is old, and common areas show "peeling paint, cracked tiles, dusty corners," suggesting a lack of modernizing efforts and overall upkeep.
Subpar Food and Limited Dining: The food quality is described as "below average," "repetitive," "bland," and "overpriced," with "limited" options. The inconvenience and extra cost of traveling to Pasir Panjang for alternative dining are also highlighted.
Service Inconsistencies: While some staff were friendly, others were perceived as "not well trained and clueless" or "just going through the motions," indicating a mixed and sometimes unsatisfactory service experience.
Lack of On-Site Activities/Atmosphere: Reviewers noted "practically no atmosphere, no energy, and very little to do on-site," with little assistance for arranging outside tours.
Perceived Low Value for Price: The overall sentiment is that the resort is "overpriced for what you get" and "feels like daylight robbery," suggesting that the current offering does not justify the cost.
These points are significant for potential guests to consider, balancing the natural beauty of the location with the reported state of the facilities and services.

Berjaya Redang Resort on Redang Island presents a lodging option for locals in Terengganu, primarily for those seeking a tranquil retreat centered around the island's renowned natural beauty. While recent customer reviews highlight significant areas for improvement, understanding its core appeal can help determine its suitability for specific local needs.
For Terengganu residents, Redang Island remains a jewel in our state's crown, celebrated for its "beautiful private white sandy beach and crystal clear water." If your primary goal is to simply unwind by a pristine beach, swim in clear waters, and escape the daily grind in a natural setting, then the resort's location provides precisely that. It offers a local island getaway without needing to venture outside our state, making it a convenient option for a quick escape. The inherent peace and quiet of being "surrounded by nature" can be a significant draw for those truly looking to disconnect and rejuvenate, as indicated by the review praising the peaceful setting.
However, it is crucial for locals to approach Berjaya Redang Resort with realistic expectations, especially considering the detailed feedback regarding dated facilities, cleanliness concerns in rooms, limited and "overpriced" food options, and inconsistent staff service. For a budget-conscious local traveler or those expecting a modern, fully-serviced resort experience commensurate with the "resort hotel" title, these points are highly relevant. Locals might also be more aware of alternative dining options or tour operators on the island, potentially mitigating some of the reported shortcomings.
Despite the critical reviews, the resort's fundamental offering of direct access to a stunning private beach remains. For Terengganu locals whose priority is the natural environment of Redang Island above all else, and who are prepared for the resort's current condition based on recent feedback, it could still serve as a base. It's a place to simply enjoy the sun, sea, and sand in a relatively secluded setting. Understanding that the main "draw" is the natural beauty of its location, and that the resort itself might require a more "back to basics" mindset due to its upkeep, will manage expectations. For locals, the convenience of a domestic island destination within our own state remains a strong pull, but it's vital to weigh the stunning natural surroundings against the reported state of the resort's facilities and services.

Berjaya Redang Resort Reviews
Staying here for 3 nights and honestly, I wouldn’t come back. The setting may be peaceful and surrounded by nature, but that’s about the only thing going for Redang Island Resort. Everything else—from the rooms to the food to the overall upkeep—feels tired, neglected, and overpriced for what you get.The rooms are basic, not as clean as expected and very dated. Furniture looks like it hasn’t been replaced in years, and the bathroom was particularly disappointing—old fixture and a constant damp smell that housekeeping just masked with air freshener. Not what you’d expect from a place calling itself a resort.Staff were a mixed bag. Some were friendly enough, it felt like they are not well trained and clueless sometimes. At times, it felt like they were just going through the motions.Facilities are severely lacking and looks worn out. Common areas don’t seem to get much maintenance—peeling paint, cracked tiles, dusty corners. There’s practically no atmosphere, no energy, and very little to do on-site unless you pre-arrange outside tours, which the resort doesn’t help with much.Food was below average. Breakfast was repetitive and unimaginative—think cold sausages, instant noodles, and overly sweet cordial drinks passed off as juice. Lunch and dinner options were limited, bland, and overpriced. No other dining options unless you take a boat to the main beach i.e. Pasir Panjang, which is a hassle and costs extra. You’ll likely end up eating the same things every day, and not enjoying any of them.Overall, this place feels like it’s stuck in the past, coasting on its location and ignoring everything else. No real effort to modernize or improve. For the price, it feels like daylight robbery. You can get far better value, service, and experience elsewhere on Redang. The sad part is that this place could be great with the right management—but as it stands now, it’s a frustrating, underwhelming, and disappointing stay. Not recommended.
Jun 06, 2025 · Kah Hooi ChewBeautiful private white sandy beach and crystal clear water. These make it the best place for vacation in Redang Island. Marine Park currently closed to protect the corals from further damaging - the only draw back. Please check Marine Park status before you come. It may already open now.
May 24, 2023 · wan halimThe Emerald Island In Malaysia - Pulau RedangSituated 50km off the coast, Redang Island is the most developed in Terengganu. The beaches, washed by the warm waters of the South China Sea is the nature's wonder: a wonderful alchemy of fine powdery white and gold sand, magnificently wide, often times sloping gradually into the sea. Crystal clear water and vibrant underwater world invite enthusiasts to enjoy the colourful, mature coral gardens and several shipwreckeds. With the vastness of the sea, cool breezes and breathtaking sunsets, the island is nothing short of a tropical paradise. Berjaya Air operates daily direct flights to the island from KL & Singapore and speedboats at designated jetty will take 45 minutes to reach the island.
Aug 14, 2016 · Palie MassaThe most memorable moment I had in Redang was swimming among the turtles in the bay north of the Island. The good thing about staying at Berjaya Redang Resort is that I could jog across the island from the hotel to the Turtle Bay. It is a nice 3km jog along the main road of the island.
