Dahlia Redang Introduce
Looking for a different kind of island experience in Terengganu? While many visitors flock to the bustling resorts on Redang Island's main beaches, there are hidden gems that offer a more authentic and personal touch. Dahlia Redang is one such place, providing a cozy and friendly accommodation option for those who want to experience the tranquil village life on the island. It's not your typical beachfront resort, but for the adventurous and budget-conscious local traveler, it presents a unique and rewarding stay.
This hotel is a great choice for those who want to immerse themselves in the local culture and enjoy a more peaceful environment. It's a place where you're not just a tourist, but a guest in a warm and welcoming community. This is a perfect alternative for those who find the large, crowded resorts less appealing and prefer a more personal and laid-back atmosphere.
Dahlia Redang is located on Redang Island, at an address listed as Unnamed Road, Pulau Redang, 21090 Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. It is situated in the village area, known as Kampung. This is an important distinction to make, as it affects accessibility. To get to Redang Island from the mainland, you can take a ferry from either Shahbandar Jetty in Kuala Terengganu or Merang Jetty. The journey from Shahbandar Jetty takes longer (around 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours) on a larger public ferry, while the trip from Merang Jetty is faster (45-60 minutes).
The key thing to note about Dahlia Redang's location is its distance from the popular Long Beach (Pasir Panjang), a hub of activity and resorts. To get to Long Beach from the village where Dahlia Redang is located, you have two main options. As noted by a customer, you can either embark on a roughly one-hour trekking adventure through the jungle from Teluk Dalam, or you can opt for a boat trip. The boat trip can be quite costly, but as some guests have noted, the hotel owner is known to be very accommodating and may assist with transportation.
This unique location makes Dahlia Redang ideal for travelers who don't mind a bit of adventure and physical activity. The trek is a highlight for those who enjoy exploring nature, offering a chance to see a different side of the island away from the tourist crowds.
Dahlia Redang is a small, family-run establishment, and its services reflect its humble, community-focused nature. Based on customer feedback, the services offered are centered around guest comfort and a personal touch.
- Accommodation: The hotel provides clean and comfortable rooms, noted for being very tidy and well-maintained. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and a private bathroom, ensuring a comfortable stay.
- Transportation Assistance: The owner is known for being extremely friendly and helpful, even offering to provide transportation to and from the beach for guests, as highlighted in a review. This service is a significant value-add, especially given the distance to the main tourist areas.
- Local Experience: The primary service offered is an immersive local experience. Guests get to stay in a village, eat local food at affordable prices, and interact with friendly villagers, providing a genuine taste of life on Redang Island beyond the resorts.
- General Hospitality: The staff, particularly the owner, are highly praised for their exceptional friendliness and helpfulness, going above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and are well taken care of.
Dahlia Redang's charm lies in its unique highlights and features, which distinguish it from the larger, more conventional resorts on the island.
Friendly and Helpful Owner: This is a recurring theme in all reviews. The owner's warm and accommodating personality is a major highlight, making guests feel like family rather than just customers. This level of personal service is a rare find.
Clean and Comfortable Rooms: Despite its small size, the hotel prioritizes cleanliness and comfort. Guests have consistently mentioned that the rooms are clean and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of adventure.
Authentic Village Atmosphere: For those who want to see how the local community lives, Dahlia Redang provides an unparalleled experience. You get to enjoy village life, from the food to the friendly interactions with residents. This is a much more grounded experience than the typical tourist package.
Budget-Friendly: The cost of accommodation and food in the village is significantly lower than in the main tourist areas. This makes Dahlia Redang an excellent choice for backpackers, solo travelers, and families looking to save on expenses while still enjoying the island's beauty.
Trekking Adventure: The trek to Long Beach is a fantastic feature for adventurous travelers. It’s not just a way to get around; it's an activity in itself, offering beautiful views and a sense of accomplishment. It's a key part of the unique experience this hotel provides.

Dahlia Redang Reviews
I had a great stay here. Owner of the hostel is just so friendly. But bare in mind that the only way to reach long beach is by trekking from teruk Dalam (1hr trek) or pay for boat trip(rm150/way) . Owner send and pick up me multiple times without charging. Cause my free diving class at long beach. If u want to save ur cost for accommodation, enjoy village food, and like to do some trekking adventure. Come visit this friendly uncle. May God bless his soul. 😊 I will revisit him again if I return to redang.
Sep 15, 2020 · Kee Jit ShenThe owner is very nice man and have been very helpful and the room is so clean and very comfortable! My wife and I has been very satisfyied with staying in this small hotel on the Redang island. The local people in the small village are so nice and polite. And the food and everything are not expensive at all, not like many people say. We enjoy traveling by your selves on this beautiful beatiful island but the packges travling. Basing on our experence, we suggest to take the big ferry at Kuala Terengganu at the jetty near to KLCC mall. It will be cheaper and comfortable on a big ferry, because the speedboat is uncomfortable at all, your cloth will be wet with sea water, and it is expensive. Anyway I will never take a speedboat to get to the island. Good luck!
