Location and Accessibility
Draii Chalet is located on **Pulau Perhentian Besar, 22300 Besut, Terengganu, Malaysia**. This places it directly on the larger of the two Perhentian Islands, a renowned paradise famous for its pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and lush tropical landscapes. For us locals in Terengganu, reaching Pulau Perhentian Besar is a familiar journey, typically starting from the Kuala Besut Jetty. Kuala Besut is easily accessible by road from various parts of Terengganu, including Kuala Terengganu, and offers parking facilities for those driving. From Kuala Besut Jetty, regular speed boat transfers are available, taking visitors directly to the island. A significant convenience noted by a customer review is that the "Boat will drop you near to the chalet," which minimizes the hassle of luggage transfer upon arrival on the island. The chalet is strategically located "in between Suhaila Palace and Beach Box/Tuna Bay," indicating a position within a stretch of beach that likely offers easy access to other resorts, restaurants, and activity providers. While on Pulau Perhentian Besar, getting around typically involves walking along the beach, using jungle trails, or taking water taxis to explore different coves and snorkeling spots. The island environment means that traditional road transport is non-existent, embracing a unique mode of travel. This location is ideal for immersing oneself in the natural beauty of the island, with direct access to the beach for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling right at your doorstep. For us, the people of Terengganu, Draii Chalet on Pulau Perhentian Besar offers a very specific and often suitable option for an island getaway. Its primary appeal lies in its location and price point, making an island escape more accessible. The convenience of having the "Boat will drop you near to the chalet" immediately enhances the arrival experience, a small but significant detail when dealing with luggage on an island. Strategically nestled between other popular establishments like Suhaila Palace and Beach Box/Tuna Bay, it ensures that guests have easy access to diverse dining options and activity providers, as highlighted by a customer who mentioned "Got delicious restaurant/cafe nearby." Draii Chalet Reviews
Boat will drop you near to the chalet. The place located in between Suhaila Palace and Beach Box/Tuna Bay. Room okay. Very clean. Toilet also clean. The shower got water heater but not function. Water pressure okay. Bed still consider comfortable to sleep. Aircond functioning well. Electricity only available from 7pm - 7am. My friend's room, got water leaking. Everytime raining, the ceiling started to leaking. Got balcony where you can 'lepak'. Does not have wifi and telco coverage. Got delicious restaurant/cafe nearby. Worth the place and price. Overall good. Will definitely stay here again.
Sep 06, 2023 · farah haizalThe worst chalet stayed. Staff friendly but boss not friendly and arrogant. Talk like we much want stayed here. We stay because no choice and we need to pay extra because for extra bed and shower. No electricity at the day because one of their generator breakdown. So from morning into evening we need to open door and windows. Think before u book here. And i remember the owner says it to me, they wont sell to local because local have bad habits make some trouble, but their service was bad and poor. Please i wont book here again..very bad place and owner..
Sep 10, 2020 · JiedIf only the hotel is available on the whole island, it is better to quit because holidays in such conditions are not cool. Towels stink and are only suitable for the floor, the room is lacking wardrobe and washbasin, the whole room stinks and electricity is turned on at 16 o'clock. There is mold on the walls ... No words. And in addition, they probably do not know that there is such a thing as toilet paper
Apr 22, 2019 · RainHad limited options so chose this one. Here's my experience.Tldr: nothing particularly to recommend this place but the beach is nice enough. This 130 ringgit (high season, booked direct by phone) room includes:- small room with double bed and side table- space to charge two electronics- air con unit- one window (permanently slightly open) in bedroom with curtain- small attached bathroom (shower + toilet in same room) no basin but another water faucet near the ground, toilet paper included.- 2x towelsNote: this room is a moment's walk from the beach down a small mouldy corridor on the ground floor.Things you will wish it included:- WiFi- Power nearer the bed- A bug and lizard free experience ( be careful with food in your room, the ants are waiting for you)- no generator noise- continuous electricity as it's very dark without light ( this usually runs from 1 - 4pm and 6pm - 8am)- someone able to speak English / someone in charge who cares at all- cleanliness - it's pretty dirty and smells a bit mouldy, though bedsheet looks okSurroundings - this beach is quite busy and moderately covered in dead coral, but has really nice loungers set out by other chalets that you can use if they haven't been claimed. These get taken in before 8pm.If you keep walking along, it seems you can access two more hardly inhabited beaches, one with a dive centre. There is a quite pricey restaurant just next door (Tuna Bay) and a cheaper option (Nia's) on the beach further down + maybe one other even further.Everyone does diving and scuba packages but not many people around the signs so guess you enquire with someone. You can scuba on the beach (each item for rent seems to cost 10 ringgit at the D'Raii "reception") but some of the fish seem to nip you
Jun 26, 2019 · Lisa TateVery basic place to stay, good for backpackers. Pros: Clean bathroom, hot water (No sink)Aircon worksProvision to hang wet clothes outside roomFriendly people at the reception counterCons: Came here during the off season in Feb so most of the cons are applicable for this time of the year.- No wifi- No mobile network (Since the mobile tower is far away from this place). - We came closer to Barat/Perhentian Island resort and we had good network+4G speeds on Hotlink maxis.- Power outages, we had power in the night but no power during the day.- If you get a room towards the end of chalet then you might end up breathing smoke from generator. The room had spring mattress so if you are a light sleeper, then you would have trouble sleeping. There is a gap beneath the door so you would see all kinds of insects crawling in and out. Rooms can be cleaner.- No lobby so no place to keep luggage/no water was provided/no restaurants around so we had to take a boat taxi for all 3 meals of the day.- No activities around so again we had to travel to another resort for Kayaking/Scuba Diving/Snorkeling- Trouble getting boat taxi's to this place (On one of the days we had gone out for dinner and had trouble finding a water taxi back to this place)One suggestion would be is to find a place with all the activities around when you come Pehrentian Island during the off season. But if your are the type of person who is on a budget and likes a little bit of adventure then this place should do.
