Laman Tamara Retreat Reviews
We had a mixed experience during our stay. On the positive side, the view and surrounding area were beautiful, offering a peaceful village-style escape from city life. It was refreshing to be surrounded by nature, and there was even a friendly cat that made the stay feel more homey. We enjoyed the opportunity to go kayaking and play badminton, which were nice activities for a relaxing trip. The host was also kind enough to give us a one-day extra stay and a late check-out for RM500, which we truly appreciated. However, there were several things that affected our comfort. While the place appeared clean in photos and from afar, it became clear upon arrival that there was quite a bit of dust and gecko droppings in several areas. The washing machine provided was not working, and the bicycles were not well maintained. Only one of the bedrooms had both a fan and functioning air-conditioning. The rest of the rooms only had airconds, and one of them wasn't working at all — the room became extremely hot, almost like a sauna, and we had to sleep in the living room instead. The fan near the sofa bed by the bathroom also wasn’t functioning, and in one of the bedrooms, the plug point beside the bed didn’t work, which was quite inconvenient. When we arrived, there was no water in the kitchen for a few hours, though the caretaker did respond and fixed the issue by around 7pm. Later at night, we were shocked to see a rat in one of the bedrooms, and we also found a chicken bone beside the sofa bed, which was quite concerning in terms of hygiene. Insects and flies were a frequent issue throughout the stay — pest control would really help improve the environment. One of the sliding doors in the kitchen also couldn't be locked, which raised safety concerns. Lastly, the pool had visible sand and debris, making it feel unclean and not well maintained.Overall, we really liked the peaceful atmosphere and outdoor activities, but the stay would’ve been much better if cleanliness, maintenance, and basic amenities were properly taken care of. We’d give this place a 3 out of 5 stars.
Jun 15, 2025 · Muhammad NazmiWhile we truly appreciated the warmth and generosity from Puan Siti and had a great time here, the property's maintenance and cleanliness were unfortunately subpar. We found the bedsheets and cushion covers dusty with lizard poop everywhere, and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. Discovering a chicken bone on the bedroom floor and a dirty toilet were also concerning.Furthermore, several amenities were not functioning as expected. The air conditioning wasn't well-serviced, the washing machine couldn't be used, and one of the wall fans was faulty. The kitchen area was also uncomfortably hot during the day, as the ceiling fan couldn't effectively counter the heat radiating from the zinc roof directly above. We sincerely hope the caretakers of the house will improve these aspects in the future to match the wonderful hospitality provided by Puan Siti.
Jun 16, 2025 · Nadia IdianaStayed at Laman Tamara for a short family trip. Nice place to take a break from the busy city environment. Highly recommended for those who wants a quiet R&R, in the midst greenery, fresh air and kampong life equipped with modern amenities.
Mar 11, 2025 · Marlin A NordinThe good :1. Only 1-1.5 hour drive from KL to a charming eco green kampung style stay2. Strong WiFi and 4G available so no loss of connectivity especially for teenage kids or some who still need to log in for work3. Pool is just big enough for few kids to have fun while the safety ledge is perfect for our 5 year olds to jump in and get to safety easily4. A stand alone BBQ pit with seating chalet was awesome5. Access to lake where our boys had fun fishing6. Big open and well equipped kitchen facing the back toward the pool and lake was great for parents to see all the kids enjoying themselves7. Serene morning mists over the hills around the premise was calming8. Host and staff communication and friendliness top notch. The could be better1. Low water pressure for the common shower rooms2. Yes there are mosquitoes but somehow not as itchy as those in city but they are present. Somehow all disappears at 7pm when the temperature cools down. Maybe they had their fill already3. No king size beds so if your smaller kids like to snuggle in the middle, dads you are sleeping on the couch or on the floor.Otherwise it was a fabulous escape, the whole charm and offering of the place was magic for all generations. Pretty hard to duplicate, recommended.
Jan 09, 2024 · Steven ChinVery nice property in a scenic spot. Interior is very authentic and local with tasteful touches. Place, especially washrooms, can be slightly cleaner but comfortable enough. Pool is small but fun for the kids. Sunsets are beautiful. We had full board (2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners). Food was decent, but not quite sufficient. Also quite repetitive as lunch and dinner were the same dishes. My teenage children enjoyed the food but all lost weight during the stay. Future boarders may wish to settle the food part on their own.A small issue we had were with rats in the evenings and there were a few of them. I am not sure if this is common for these homestays but it sure upset the children a bit, especially the young ones.A pleasant stay overall but 1 star off for the issues mentioned above.
