Mutiara Taman Negara Introduce
Selamat datang to Mutiara Taman Negara, your premier resort hotel nestled deep within the heart of Malaysia’s ancient rainforest in Kuala Tahan, Pahang. For us living in Pahang, or those across Malaysia seeking an immersive nature experience, Mutiara Taman Negara offers a unique opportunity to connect with one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests. It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a direct gateway to adventure, wildlife, and the serene beauty of Taman Negara. This resort is strategically located to provide the most convenient access to the park's renowned activities, making it a popular choice for locals looking to explore our natural heritage.
While the allure of untouched nature is undeniable, we understand that comfort and convenience are also important. Mutiara Taman Negara aims to bridge this gap, providing a comfortable base right in the jungle. It’s a place where you can wake up to the sounds of the rainforest, step out directly into lush greenery, and easily embark on your adventure. Despite its remote setting, the resort strives to offer amenities that enhance your stay, making your jungle exploration as comfortable as possible. It's often considered the most convenient accommodation option within Taman Negara itself, which is a significant factor for those prioritizing easy access to activities.

Mutiara Taman Negara is uniquely located at 27000 Kuala Tahan, Pahang, Malaysia. Its address is not just a geographical point but a statement of its core appeal: being right within Taman Negara National Park. This strategic positioning offers unparalleled access to the park's incredible biodiversity and famous attractions, setting it apart from other accommodations that might require additional travel time to reach the park entrance.
Accessing Mutiara Taman Negara involves a journey that is part of the adventure itself. For most visitors, the common route involves travelling to Jerantut, Pahang. From major cities like Kuala Lumpur, you can take a bus or drive to Jerantut, which typically takes around 3-4 hours. Once in Jerantut, the most popular and scenic way to reach Kuala Tahan (where the resort is) is by longtail boat. This river journey, usually lasting about 2.5 to 3 hours up the Tembeling River, offers a fantastic introduction to the jungle environment, allowing you to spot wildlife along the riverbanks. Alternatively, there are also direct taxis or vans available from Jerantut to Kuala Tahan, taking about an hour on land, which might be preferred for those with limited time or excessive luggage.
Upon arrival in Kuala Tahan, reaching Mutiara Taman Negara specifically requires crossing the Tembeling River by a small 'connecting jetty' (boat shuttle) from the public jetty area. This short boat ride takes only a few minutes and is exclusive to resort guests, adding to the sense of immersion in the natural surroundings. While convenient for arrival, it is worth noting that for departure, guests might need to manage their luggage from the jetty up a sloped path to the waiting vehicles, which some past guests have found to be a physical challenge if assistance is not pre-arranged or readily available.
Despite these unique access methods, the benefit of staying at Mutiara Taman Negara is its immediate proximity to all park activities. The resort is literally steps away from the starting points for jungle treks, the famous Canopy Walkway (when open), and the jetties for river safaris and rapid shooting. This unparalleled convenience significantly reduces travel time and maximizes your time exploring the rainforest, which is a key advantage for local adventurers eager to experience Taman Negara to its fullest.

For residents of Pahang and fellow Malaysians across the country, Mutiara Taman Negara offers a truly distinctive and suitable resort experience. Its primary advantage lies in its unparalleled location right inside Taman Negara National Park. For us, accessing our natural heritage, especially a rainforest as ancient and majestic as Taman Negara, is a source of pride and an opportunity for unique adventure. Mutiara Taman Negara serves as the most convenient base for this exploration, eliminating the need for long daily commutes to the park entrance.
While some previous guests have noted areas for improvement, such as initial cleanliness or the cost relative to certain amenities, the overall experience of being fully immersed in the jungle environment often outweighs these points for local adventurers. The "surrounding environment was nice with plenty of greenery" and "easy access to most activities" directly resonate with what many locals seek – an authentic, hands-on nature experience without unnecessary logistical hurdles. The generally "very good" food options, especially the value of half-board, also cater to our preference for satisfying meals after a day of physical activity.
For families and groups, Mutiara Taman Negara offers an educational and adventurous getaway. It’s a chance for children to experience wildlife firsthand and for adults to unwind in a pristine natural setting. While the departure process with luggage might require some planning, the overall convenience during the stay, especially for accessing jungle treks and river activities, makes it highly appealing. It allows us to truly unplug from city life and reconnect with nature’s wonders, making it an excellent choice for a memorable jungle adventure right here in Pahang.

Mutiara Taman Negara Reviews
The hotel was average — I expected better for the price we paid (18 pax / around RM1,000 per person for 3D2N). The surrounding environment was nice with plenty of greenery. It’s probably one of the most convenient hotels in Taman Negara, offering easy access to most activities. Unfortunately, the famous canopy walk was closed for maintenance during our visit.Cleanliness could be improved — a few of our rooms had pillows with hair and a sweaty smell when we checked in, which was quite unpleasant. 🤮 It felt like they only changed the pillowcases without replacing or properly cleaning the pillows. The buffet food was decent. However, the included activities were very limited. You’ll need to top up for a better experience and access to more activities. We were also assigned a less experienced tour guide who skipped some explanations and even some stops. The connecting jetty was a nice experience but quite inconvenient. Upon departure, we had to carry all our luggage from the jetty to the bus — about 300–400m uphill at a 45-degree angle. Interestingly, when we arrived, a van helped transfer our luggage from the bus directly to our rooms. It would’ve been great to have the same service during check-out too.
Jun 01, 2025 · AndrewThe food here is very good. Very likely to better than anything else in the local area. Half board has turned out to be a very good decision! On the down side, 8 channels, all fuzzy, one in English, showing beauty or business magazine shows. The buffet food isn't temperature checked so often not quite as hot as you'd want. Building work, sounding like roadworks on weekdays. Service charge on all drinks bought...is that normal in a hotel? Surely that's the point of paying for a hotel in the first place!
Jun 20, 2025 · M C (The Old School Caretaker)The rooms are rustic, minimal and rather dated however it’s reasonably kept and clean. Would however prefer if there were better sitting spaces instead of mesh deck chairs that cuts into your spine and back. The overall resort itself is well placed next to the forest, observation area and canopy walk (which unfortunately was closed when we were there). The key weakness to the resort in general is the lack of communal spaces to chill and hang out after a long day of activities. A pool and/or games room would be much welcomed.Food was standard fare for buffet, some hits and misses with nothing truly outstanding. The one thing that truly stood out for the place is the activities which are very well organized and the guides are friendly and knowledgeable.
Jun 04, 2025 · Andy LeoWe stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms/ chalets are cozy. Have a nice balcony to sit outside (if you like cold beer bring some with you as the shop doesn't sell alcohol). Mutiara is the starting point for many trails and outdoor activities. There is a restaurant onside but also in the village there are plenty of restaurants.
Apr 10, 2025 · Hans MeijndertIt has been my pleasure to stay with Mutiara Taman Negara. A million thanks to Mr. Lex Lam the Resort Manager for a wonderful experience and services. Thanks to Sarah the recreation girl for being very helpful. And Rozana from front desk for a very warm welcome. Both guide Kamir and Along, your detailed explanations on the trip to Orang Asli and Night walk are extremely appreciated. The foods are marvellous. Tempoyak ikan patin and pizza sambal hitam are a must try! Will be back soon! 🙏
