Liana Hostel boasts an "optimal position overlooking the river" in Kuala Tahan, 27000 Pahang, Malaysia. This strategic location places it directly in the heart of Taman Negara's primary entry point, making it incredibly convenient for accessing all the renowned activities and attractions of this ancient rainforest. For locals in Pahang and visitors from across Malaysia, getting to Kuala Tahan is an integral part of the adventure, leading you into the pristine natural landscapes of the state.
Kuala Tahan is the main village serving as the gateway to Taman Negara National Park. While it's deep within the natural setting, it's remarkably accessible. Most visitors arrive in Jerantut, a major town in Pahang, which is well-connected by bus services from Kuala Lumpur (approx. 3-4 hours drive, or 5-6 hours by bus from KL), and other parts of Malaysia. From Jerantut, local buses or taxis can take you to Kuala Tahan. Alternatively, a popular and scenic option is to take a longtail boat ride from Kuala Tembeling jetty to Kuala Tahan, a journey that further enhances the feeling of entering the wild. Once in Kuala Tahan, Liana Hostel's riverside location means you are steps away from the main jetties that ferry visitors across the Tembeling River to the park headquarters and the start of many trails.
The hostel is situated where you can "walk 50m and pay 1 ringgit to get to the park," highlighting its direct access to Taman Negara's main entrance. This proximity means you can easily embark on jungle treks, visit the iconic Canopy Walkway, go rapid shooting, or take night safaris with minimal travel time. While guests are reminded that they "do not expect a spa and of course there will be huge insects outside (not in the dorms)" – which is a natural expectation for a rainforest environment – the hostel's location ensures maximum immersion in the rainforest experience. The overlooking river view also adds to the tranquil and natural ambiance.

Liana Hostel Reviews
The best experience in Malaysia for me. The owner is the most impressive person I've met on my trip. You can absolutely trust him and book your tours with his help (just tell him when you arrive). Rooms & bathrooms are clean and work well. But remember you've come here to see the rainforest, so don't expect a spa and of course there will be huge insects outside (not in the dorms). Definitely recommended! Hope to come back someday

Apr 29, 2025 · Pietro AnamI liked my one night stay in Liana Hostel. The rooms are basics, but have AC and fan, which works well. But what impress me the most is the hostel keeper allow me to check in early (which was keeping my backpack in the room) at 9 AM before I start my one day trekking tour, because the room was already available in the morning. We arranged this the day before. And he also allowed me to check out late to wait for my bus departure. The bathroom also kept clean, and toilet paper provided. And better to walk in compare with booking online if it's not busy season. Good for traveller on low budget, coz Taman Negara accomodations could be a bit pricy. ✨✨
Apr 05, 2024 · Aurora RostenilaOne of the longest history of the hostel in TN. Basic ,clean ,good AC to beat some humidity during humid day! Easy access to jetty after a tiring hike , walkable to floating restaurants and small town. Nice and easy going host!Thin wood wall during the night, some rooms are twin , some are bunk bed / shared bathroom (clean), other side has double room too. With that temperature (u do not need hot water shower)basically I got everything I need / shower / enough rest and charged in a very reasonable price!
