Pak Din Ikan Bakar Introduce
For us in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, the quest for the perfect grilled fish – or "Ikan Bakar" – is a serious culinary pursuit. We crave that smoky aroma, the perfectly charred skin, and the succulent flesh, all elevated by a fiery, flavourful sambal. If this sounds like your kind of gastronomic adventure, then Pak Din Ikan Bakar, nestled within the tranquil Perdana Botanical Gardens, is a destination you absolutely must experience. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a vibrant, atmospheric eatery that has recently undergone upgrades, making it even more appealing, and offers a unique combination of exceptional food and live entertainment.
Pak Din Ikan Bakar has clearly carved out a niche for itself among discerning locals. As one delighted customer raved, "Super vibrant old school atmosphere. The place got an upgrade recently making the eatery more spacious with better shadings." This suggests a commitment to enhancing the dining experience while retaining its authentic charm. But the real star, unequivocally, is the food. The grilled fish here is lauded as "excellent," particularly the "ikan keli and ikan pari," which are consistently highlighted as favourites. The secret weapon, it seems, is the "super delicious spicy onion sauce," which perfectly complements the smoky fish, creating an unforgettable flavour profile. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, praising both "keli and pari fish" for being "grilled to perfection, properly seasoned with asa pedas kuah, and tasted delicious, too." This dedication to perfectly grilled, flavourful fish is what sets Pak Din Ikan Bakar apart.
The glowing recommendations don't stop there. One patron even declared, "Highly recommended, I find this place better than the ikan bakar in Jalan Bellamy." This is high praise indeed, as Jalan Bellamy is a well-known, established spot for grilled fish in KL. Such a strong endorsement from a local speaks volumes about the quality and taste offered at Pak Din Ikan Bakar. And if the superb food wasn't enough, the added bonus of "live performance here too!" truly elevates the dining experience, transforming a simple meal into a lively and engaging outing. It's a place where the senses are fully engaged – the aroma of grilled fish, the vibrant ambiance, the delicious taste, and the soothing sounds of live music. For us K.L. residents, finding such a holistic and satisfying dining experience, especially one that combines traditional flavours with an inviting atmosphere, is always a welcome discovery.
Pak Din Ikan Bakar boasts an enviable location within the expansive and serene Perdana Botanical Gardens, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This places it in a unique setting, allowing diners to enjoy their meal amidst lush greenery and a tranquil environment, a refreshing change from the usual urban dining spots in the city.
For Kuala Lumpur residents, accessing the Perdana Botanical Gardens is relatively straightforward. If you're driving, the gardens are well-connected by major roads leading into the city centre. There are several entry points to the gardens, and typically, ample parking is available within or near the park's various attractions, though it can get quite busy during peak hours, especially on weekends. Once inside the vast gardens, navigating to Pak Din Ikan Bakar might involve a short walk. While the gardens are large, signage and local knowledge can help pinpoint its location within the food court or designated dining area. The recent upgrades mentioned by customers suggest improved accessibility and comfort.
For those relying on public transport, the Perdana Botanical Gardens are quite accessible. The Muzium Negara MRT Station is one of the closest public transport hubs, located just across from the National Museum, which is adjacent to the gardens. From there, it's a pleasant walk into the gardens and towards the restaurant. Alternatively, the Kuala Lumpur KTM Komuter station is also in the vicinity, offering another public transport option. Several bus routes also service the areas surrounding the Lake Gardens. The journey itself can be part of a larger enjoyable outing, allowing visitors to soak in the natural beauty of the botanical gardens before and after their delicious meal.
The strategic location within such an iconic and tranquil setting offers a distinct advantage, providing an escape from urban concrete and traffic, making it a desirable dining spot for KL residents.

Its inherent appeal and the experience it offers are its continuous "special offers" to its patrons.
However, we can highlight the ongoing benefits that function as its promotions for locals:
- Consistently Excellent Quality: The most significant "promotion" is the consistent delivery of "excellent" and "perfectly grilled" fish with "super delicious spicy onion sauce." This reliability in taste and quality is a continuous draw for repeat customers.
- Enhanced Dining Experience with Upgrades: The recent "upgrade" that made the eatery "more spacious with better shadings" serves as an ongoing "promotion," offering improved comfort and a more enjoyable environment without an increase in price.
- Complimentary Live Entertainment: The inclusion of "live performance here too!" is a unique and free bonus. This constant offering of entertainment adds significant value to the dining experience without any additional cost to the customer.
- Authentic & Beloved Local Flavours: The availability of highly recommended traditional dishes like "Ikan Keli and Ikan Pari" cooked to perfection is a continuous "promotion" for locals seeking genuine and comforting Indonesian/Malaysian cuisine.

Feb 12, 2025 · Chuah W PangI had keli and pari fish; both were grilled to perfection, properly seasoned with asa pedas kuah, and tasted delicious, too.
Apr 10, 2025 · Aditya PratamaI love to eat ikan bakar here. Price is rm13-Rm16 per fish. Just that they use cash more than qr. They prefer cash.Parking is free.
Apr 24, 2025 · Nurul Nabilah OmarThis place is for Ikan bakar lovers. We had Talapia (RM18) and sotong bakar (RM27). The Ikan bakar here comes with air asam sauce. I don't really like air asam but their version is quite tasty and went really well with the dishes. The dishes were fresh and delicious. The owner is very friendly and attentive. The area can be hot sometimes. Suitable for family. Ample parking and easy to find. Recommended!
