Perhentian Bay Chalet Introduce
Are you envisioning a delightful escape to the stunning Perhentian Islands in Terengganu? For many of us locals, these islands are a beloved destination, offering pristine waters, vibrant marine life, and a tranquil retreat from daily life. When it comes to choosing accommodation that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the island's natural beauty, options like **Perhentian Bay Chalet** on Pulau Perhentian Kecil present a choice for your consideration.
Perhentian Bay Chalet offers a unique style of lodging, embracing the rustic charm often found on island getaways. As the name suggests, it provides chalet-style accommodation, which typically means independent units, offering a different experience compared to standard hotel rooms. This type of lodging can appeal to those who prefer a more direct connection with nature and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. This article will provide a factual and comprehensive overview of Perhentian Bay Chalet, from its specific island location to the services it aims to provide, helping our fellow Terengganu locals make informed decisions for their island adventures.
The allure of staying in a chalet on an island like Perhentian lies in its simplicity and the opportunity to feel closer to the natural surroundings. It often provides a more intimate and budget-friendly alternative to large resorts, making it particularly appealing for travelers who prioritize outdoor activities and exploring the island’s beauty over luxurious indoor amenities. For our local community in Terengganu, understanding such lodging options is crucial when planning trips to our famous islands, ensuring a blend of comfort, practicality, and an authentic island experience that aligns with their travel preferences and budget.
One of the key aspects of Perhentian Bay Chalet is its specific location on Pulau Perhentian Kecil. You'll find it at **87, Pulau perhentian, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, 22300 Besut, Terengganu, Malaysia**. Being on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, it is situated on the smaller of the two main Perhentian Islands, known for its vibrant backpacking scene and beautiful beaches.
Accessing Perhentian Island usually involves a boat transfer from Kuala Besut Jetty on the mainland. Once on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, guests will need to make their way to the specific bay where Perhentian Bay Chalet is located. It is important to note that access on the island is primarily by foot along sandy paths or by water taxi between bays. While the precise bay is listed as "Pulau perhentian," specific reviews indicate that the bay immediately in front of the chalets might be small and have a floating, less stable jetty, which could pose difficulties for carrying luggage, especially for elderly guests or those with mobility challenges. This implies that reaching the chalet might involve navigating these local conditions upon arrival.
While direct access to an expansive swimming beach might require a short walk or a water taxi ride to other bays, the location within Pulau Perhentian Kecil means that guests are never far from the island's many attractions. The island offers numerous opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and exploring various beaches, all easily accessible via water taxi. Being located on the island ensures an immersive experience, allowing guests to truly embrace the laid-back island lifestyle of Terengganu.
Perhentian Bay Chalet, as a chalet-style lodging, generally focuses on providing essential services and amenities for a comfortable yet simple island stay. Guests should anticipate a functional rather than luxurious experience, aligning with the natural and rustic environment of the Perhentian Islands. Here’s an overview of the typical services you can generally expect:
- **Chalet Accommodation:** Individual units offering private sleeping spaces, typically constructed with local materials that blend into the island environment.
- **Private Bathroom:** Each chalet would usually include its own private bathroom for convenience.
- **Basic Furnishings:** Expect fundamental furnishings within the chalet for comfort.
- **Restaurant/Dining Facilities:** The chalet likely features an on-site restaurant, providing meal options for guests. This is a significant convenience on the island.
- **Basic Utilities:** Access to electricity (which may be intermittent on islands) and possibly a fan or air conditioning in some units, though specific details on AC should be confirmed.
- **Assistance with Activities:** Staff might assist guests in arranging island activities such as snorkeling trips, diving excursions, or boat transfers to other parts of the island.
- **Linen and Towels:** Basic linen and towels are usually provided for guest use.
The features and highlights of Perhentian Bay Chalet emphasize its unique characteristics as an island accommodation. These aspects contribute to its appeal for certain types of travelers who seek an authentic and relaxed island retreat:

Perhentian Bay Chalet Reviews
We ordered dishes that were very small compared to their excessively high prices. Moreover, the chicken skewers were raw! We asked for them to be cooked again, but they were still raw. This is extremely dangerous! The staff was not friendly at all. Avoid this place!
Apr 26, 2025 · TeteWe didn't stay in the chalets but came for the restaurant. Delicious tasty food and drinks, especially worth mentioning is the roti canai master there!! We saw that the localisation was not very good; the bay right before the chalets was very small and floated on water so wasn't stable and (elder) people had difficulties with carrying their luggage and keeping their own balance. The other bays are better located and stable, asfalted but you should keep in mind that you have to carry your luggage in your hand because of the sand for 1-2 kilometres! Saw a lot of people dealing with these difficulties on our path.
Jun 01, 2025 · YaseminHad lunch there. Menu showed price as RM10 but finally I was charged RM18. When I asked for bill breakdown, I was told that was the old price and old menu and price has increased now. Food was average-tasting but charged 80% more than price stated. Totally unsatisfactory
Mar 19, 2025 · Mogesh SNRThe rooms are clean but very small with few facilities for what you pay. No TV, no fridge, no toilet paper, no kettle, but you are paying for a 4 star hotel. Very expensive by Malaysian standards. The hotel is in a great location, near the fishing village with lots of food options and options for water taxis and tours. The view from the front rooms upstairs is spectacular. We stayed for 5 nights and were given a hill view room but there is no view. It fits 2 people (cramped) but we are 3. We had to change rooms and pay more. The service was terrible. 1 girl smiled but nobody else smiled or seemed to want to help. The food was atrocious, we ordered a curry that had no flavour (actually tasted like keens curry powder only, no spices) and the rice was stale and lumpy. My husband ordered a burger that looked amazing in the picture but was worse than McDonald’s or a frozen supermarket burger. The snorkelling out the front of the hotel next door was great, so many nemos.Make sure you get a boat from the fishing village - cheaper and better service. You can usually get their number and contact them when you want to go somewhere.Nice view and seating area downstairs. There is also construction going on where they are building new rooms, but there is no discount for the noise and dust everywhere.I wouldn’t recommend, there are plenty of other places that are cheaper with better facilities. The location was our favourite thing.Wifi not great, especially from the rooms
Apr 30, 2024 · Julia KendallAvoid these people. rude, scammers, treat foreigners with no decency. Food is not great, I recommend go inside the village they have much nicer and accommodating people.
