AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!When we arrived, at 2am (they have 24hr check in) they proceeded to tell us there was no rooms available for us even though we had booked online though Agoda. After faffing around for a bit, they proceeded to give us our room after lying that there was a leak that they were fixing. They asked us for a deposit and we gave them $20 from our bag.Fast forwardThey allowed us to keep our bags inside their cupboard whilst we went out for the day as we had to check out. To our surprise after flying to Indonesia, we realised that they had stolen $50 out of our bags. They stole it from two separate envelopes and had the audacity to reseal the envelope. The room was disgusting, the place was dirty and stank of cigarette smoke everywhere. The staff were extremely rude upon arrival. They don’t change the sheets as we were clearly able to tell.It may be a budget room in a good location but sometimes spending the extra money is worth it, especially when your belongings get stolen and violated. - Mucha Nhau

Location and Accessibility

One of the most significant advantages of Senja Hostel Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown is its truly unbeatable location. Situated at 60-1, Jalan Hang Kasturi, City Centre, 50050 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this hostel puts you right in the thick of the action, especially if you're keen to explore the historical and cultural gems of our city.

For us locals, and anyone relying on public transport, the accessibility here is paramount. The hostel is just a short, approximately two-minute walk to the LRT Pasar Seni station. This makes it incredibly convenient to connect to various parts of Kuala Lumpur via our efficient rail network. Additionally, the proximity to the Pasar Seni/Central Market bus terminal means you have multiple options for getting around, whether you're heading to other city attractions or simply navigating daily commutes.

Being in this prime spot means you're within easy walking distance to a plethora of attractions and amenities. You can leisurely stroll to Pasar Seni (Central Market), a renowned spot for local handicrafts and souvenirs, or immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Petaling Street (Chinatown), famous for its street food and bustling night market. Other nearby cultural landmarks include Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, the National Textile Museum (Muzium Tekstil Negara), the Kuala Lumpur Library (Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur), and the beautiful Masjid Jamek. This exceptional connectivity and proximity to key attractions make Senja Hostel a highly practical choice for exploring our city on foot or by public transport.

Features / Highlights

Senja Hostel Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown offers several features and highlights that appeal to budget travelers and those prioritizing a prime location for exploring the city. While it’s a no-frills option, certain aspects stand out for its target audience.

  • Budget-Friendly Accommodation: For those seeking affordable lodging in a central area, Senja Hostel provides a cost-effective solution, allowing visitors to allocate more of their budget to experiences rather than accommodation.
  • Good for Solo Female Travellers: Some solo female travelers have reported feeling safe during their stay, which can be a significant comfort for those exploring the city alone.

  • Green Common Areas: The presence of many plants in the common areas adds a refreshing and pleasant aesthetic to shared spaces.

However, it's also important to acknowledge reported downsides which include issues with noise levels due to lack of soundproofing, inconsistent room conditions (e.g., tainted walls, cleanliness issues in some areas), and the shared bathroom setup where occupants may hang wet clothes. These aspects highlight that while the location and some amenities are strong, the overall experience can vary, and guests should come prepared for a basic, functional stay rather than a luxurious one.
