Why this place is suitable for locals:
Stong Hill Resort, despite some publicly available feedback, holds a certain appeal for us, the locals of Kelantan, primarily due to its unique geographical advantage. It is situated right in the heart of Taman Negeri Gunung Stong, a natural gem that many of us are proud to call our own. For Kelantanese, this means an accessible escape into nature without having to travel far from home. We understand the local terrain, the climate, and the beauty of our rainforests.
For those who cherish raw, untouched natural beauty, Stong Hill Resort offers an unparalleled opportunity to be truly immersed. The majestic Jelawang Waterfall, a pride of Kelantan, is right at its doorstep. Imagine waking up to the sounds of the jungle and having one of Southeast Asia's tallest waterfalls just a short distance away. This is an experience that many of us seek – a chance to reconnect with our natural heritage, to breathe fresh air, and to witness the grandeur of our local landscape up close.
While some past visitor experiences highlight areas for improvement regarding facilities and service, for many locals, the primary draw might not be luxury amenities but rather the sheer proximity to the natural attractions. We often prioritize the experience of the place itself – the trekking, the views, the sounds of the rainforest, and the escape from daily routines. If your main goal is to explore Gunung Stong and the Jelawang Waterfall with a base camp nearby, then Stong Hill Resort positions itself uniquely for that purpose.
It offers an authentic, rustic experience that might resonate more with those who are accustomed to and appreciate the simpler, more rugged side of nature tourism. For family outings where the focus is on outdoor activities and teaching children about our local environment, or for groups of friends looking for an adventurous trek, the resort serves as a convenient gateway. It provides a starting point for exploration, allowing us to delve into the rich biodiversity and challenging trails that Gunung Stong offers.
Ultimately, Stong Hill Resort caters to a specific kind of local traveler – one who prioritizes direct access to natural wonders over opulent comforts, who values an adventurous spirit, and who wishes to experience the raw, untamed beauty that only Kelantan can offer. It’s an invitation to explore our backyard, to discover the hidden treasures within our very own state, and to create memories amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Taman Negeri Gunung Stong. We encourage you to consider what you seek in a local getaway and whether an immersive natural experience, with its unique set of circumstances, aligns with your expectations for an adventure right here in Kelantan.

Stong Hill Resort Reviews
The worst experience I had in Malaysia so far.The place is unkempt and extremely run-down; the owner is incredibly unpleasant and just wants to sell his tours.I was told that there was a kitchen, but instead I was given a stove on the floor (!) and a mini pot. At first I thought it was funny, until I realized that the whole place was a disaster. The restroom is worse than any trucker's bathroom. There are cameras everywhere, also Just infront of your room. Their lenses following and recording you whenever you pass and casting an unpleasant light on you at night. 📽️I felt very uncomfortable and even was scared as I was the only guest. I left the next morning in a hurry. Don't waste your time there.Never again!
Apr 15, 2025 · Andrea OhlingerDon’t go this resort . You need to pay more then rooms fees . Example Guide fees is compulsory. . It is not that cheap for few hours only , like RM250. He doesn’t know how to talk professional manner with guest .
Nov 12, 2024 · CoolI recently visited Strong Hill Resort and it was an absolute nightmare. The entire place is littered with alarms and cameras, making it feel more like a prison than a relaxing getaway. The lack of privacy was unsettling. To add insult to injury, we were charged an outrageous 50 RM just to see the waterfall. Given the state of the park, this fee felt like a scam. The park itself is horribly maintained and falling apart. It's clear that management has neglected the upkeep, which makes the whole experience even worse.I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxing stay. Save your money and find somewhere else to enjoy your vacation.
Jul 09, 2024 · arne van steelant20-30 minutes climb uphill without stairs and a little "mini challenge" make sure you wear sports shoes... Paid rm150 for the guide (compulsory guide because it is quite challenging climb) each guide is up to 7 pax... So make sure go there by a group of 7 (if 8 person means need 2 guide, better go by 7 or 14 to maximized the worth)... Even you go alone it is still rm150 per guide... Then plus permit which is less than rm5 per pax and parking fee...Overall very nice and satisfied when reached to the foot of waterfall. Also there are more trails to 3 mountains by 1 trip, to the top of the waterfall (the guide recommended best view is when after raining, can see the spring water) but the trip is overnight trip so we did not took it...
