The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur Introduce
Welcome to an in-depth look at The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur, a hotel situated right in the bustling heart of Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. For residents of Kuala Lumpur, or those from other states looking for a convenient staycation or a base to explore the city, choosing the right accommodation is key. The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur offers a unique proposition primarily due to its highly strategic location. This article aims to provide you, a local user in Kuala Lumpur, with a comprehensive and factual overview of what this hotel has to offer. We will delve into its prime location and accessibility, discuss its services and features, and provide essential contact information. Ultimately, we will analyze why, despite some reported challenges, its location makes it a noteworthy option for certain local needs.
Our goal is to present a clear, engaging, and factual perspective, drawing insights from available public information and customer experiences. While we maintain a professional and slightly promotional tone for its advantages, our commitment remains to provide accurate information, ensuring you get a realistic picture of what to expect from The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur is prominently located at ground Campbell Complex, 98, Jalan Dang Wangi, City Centre, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This address places it squarely within the vibrant City Centre of Kuala Lumpur, making its location arguably its strongest asset. Jalan Dang Wangi is a well-known thoroughfare that offers immediate access to a myriad of attractions and conveniences that define urban living in KL.
One of the most significant advantages, as highlighted by numerous reviews, is its "strategic area in KL" and being within "walking distances to the shopping malls, eateries and LRT stations." This means guests have unparalleled access to a wide range of facilities. For shoppers, iconic retail destinations like Sogo Complex, Quill City Mall, and even the Bukit Bintang shopping district (a slightly longer walk or short public transport ride) are easily reachable. Food enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of "eateries" ranging from local hawker stalls to more upscale restaurants, ensuring a diverse culinary experience right at the doorstep.
Crucially, the hotel's proximity to "LRT stations" (specifically the Dang Wangi LRT station on the Kelana Jaya Line) provides excellent public transportation connectivity. This allows guests to travel efficiently to various parts of Kuala Lumpur, including KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers), KL Sentral (for airport transfers and intercity trains), and other popular districts, bypassing city traffic. Other forms of public transport, such as buses and ride-hailing services, are also readily available in this central location. This prime accessibility is a major factor for anyone looking to explore Kuala Lumpur without the need for private transport, offering immense convenience for both leisure and business travellers.
As a hotel in a bustling city centre, The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur would typically offer a range of services designed to cater to its guests. While specific service quality can vary, the standard offerings usually include:
- Accommodation: Providing various room types for overnight stays, ranging from standard rooms to potentially larger family rooms.
- Front Desk Services: 24-hour reception desk for check-in/check-out, inquiries, and assistance.
- Housekeeping: Daily room cleaning services, though the provided reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the actual execution and standard of cleanliness.
- Security: Basic hotel security measures, including potentially CCTV surveillance and controlled access to guest floors.
- Air Conditioning: All rooms are expected to be equipped with air conditioning, essential for comfort in Kuala Lumpur's tropical climate.
- Ensuite Bathroom: Each room would typically feature a private bathroom with shower facilities.
- Basic Amenities: Provision of basic toiletries and towels.
- Lobby/Common Areas: Access to a lobby or common areas for waiting or informal gatherings.
It is important to note, however, that customer reviews heavily criticize the execution of basic services like cleanliness and room maintenance, with mentions of "bedsheets and chairs are badly stained," "floor is sticky," "bathroom smells like piss," "sockets are so damaged," "water hose is broken," "carpet looks like it hasn't been washed for years," "room smells like cigarettes," and "cockroach in the drawer." There is also an explicit mention of "no mini bar." These reviews suggest that despite being a hotel, the actual delivery of these services falls significantly short of acceptable standards, leading to an "absolutely disgusting" experience for some guests.
Based on the provided information, the most significant features and highlights of The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur revolve primarily around its location, while acknowledging significant drawbacks concerning its internal conditions.
- Prime Central Location: This is undeniably the top highlight. Situated in the City Centre on Jalan Dang Wangi, the hotel offers unparalleled access to major attractions.
- Walkable Access to Shopping and Dining: Guests can easily walk to numerous shopping malls and a vast array of eateries, from local street food to more formal restaurants. This convenience is a major draw for those who wish to immerse themselves in KL's urban environment.
- Direct LRT Access: The proximity to an LRT station (Dang Wangi LRT) is a critical feature, offering seamless public transport connectivity to almost anywhere in Kuala Lumpur, including tourist sites, business districts, and transportation hubs like KL Sentral. This negates the need for taxis or private vehicles for city exploration.
- Cost-Effectiveness (Potentially): Given the severity of the negative reviews regarding cleanliness and maintenance, it is plausible that the hotel might offer lower rates compared to other hotels in such a prime location. This could be a "feature" for extremely budget-conscious travelers who prioritize location above all else, provided they are aware of and prepared for the reported conditions.
- Presence of Campbell Complex: Being part of the Campbell Complex, it is likely that guests have direct access to various retail shops and perhaps other services within the complex itself, adding to the convenience.
However, it is crucial to temper these highlights with the significant reported drawbacks that overshadow them for many:
- Severe Cleanliness Issues: Repeated complaints about "cockroaches," "stained bedsheets," "sticky floor," "smelly bathroom," "gross hallway," and "cigarette smell" indicate a major problem with hygiene and maintenance standards.
- Poor Room Condition: Issues such as "damaged sockets," "broken water hose," "unwashed carpet," "disgusting wall," and "stiff bed" suggest significant neglect and lack of upkeep.
- No Mini Bar: While a minor point, the absence of a mini bar is noted, which might be a standard expectation for some hotel guests.

It is strongly recommended to contact the hotel directly for the most up-to-date information, especially concerning the current condition of the rooms and any ongoing maintenance efforts. Prospective guests are also advised to carefully consider the extensive negative reviews regarding cleanliness and room conditions, and perhaps seek recent guest feedback if possible, before making a reservation.
The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur presents a complex suitability for locals in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, primarily hinging on a trade-off between its undeniable prime location and the severe criticisms regarding its internal conditions. For certain segments of the local populace, particularly those prioritizing location above all else for very specific, short-term needs, it might be considered.
Its unparalleled "strategic location in KL" is the core reason for its potential suitability. For a local resident needing a transient overnight stay right in the heart of the city for an early morning appointment, a late-night event, or as a very short-term base for exploring the central attractions, the walking proximity to "shopping malls, eateries and LRT stations" is a significant advantage. This allows for maximum convenience in accessing KL's vibrant offerings without the burden of long commutes or reliance on private transport. For example, someone attending a concert nearby, or needing to be close to the Sogo Complex for early shopping or an event, might consider it purely for its immediate access.
However, it is crucial for any local considering this hotel to be fully aware of the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding cleanliness and room maintenance. The descriptions of "disgusting," "stained," "sticky," and pest issues ("cockroaches") are severe red flags. This makes it unsuitable for family stays, leisure trips requiring comfort, or any stay where basic hygiene and a pleasant environment are expected. It is definitely not recommended for those looking for a relaxing or comfortable experience.
Therefore, The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur might only be suitable for local individuals who are on an absolute shoestring budget, who require strictly an overnight bed in the most central location possible, and who are fully prepared to tolerate significant compromises on cleanliness, comfort, and room condition. For the vast majority of locals seeking a standard, comfortable, and hygienic hotel experience in Kuala Lumpur, even for a short stay, the numerous "far more better hotels in the area" would be a much more advisable choice, as highlighted by customer reviews. The suitability for locals is thus highly niche, strictly limited by its reported internal conditions despite its prime external advantages.

The Grand Campbell Hotel Kuala Lumpur Reviews
- First, this hotel is located in a strategic area in KL.- Walking distances to the shopping malls, eateries and LRT stations.- The only major item to highlight is the room's cleanliness.- I agreed with the majority of the reviewers that this hotel may be doing another business which is farming cockroaches.- There is no mini bar.
Jun 09, 2025 · Kayrel DerisAbsolutely disgusting. The bedsheets and chairs are badly stained. The floor is sticky, and the bathroom smells like piss. The sockets are so damaged. The water hose is broken. The carpet looks like it hasn't been washed for years. The hallway is so gross. The room smells like cigarettes. The window is not properly closed even after being forced. No preparation whatsoever. The wall is disgusting. The bed is so stiff, felt like sleeping on the floor. Even after CHANGED room, had to face the same problems. We also found a cockroach in the drawer.I do not recommend anyone to ever stay here. There are far more better hotels in the area.
Jan 30, 2025 · RemiEpicI am not into this hotel esthetic. The front desk is at the front. However to go to the room, u need to walk through all the small shops along the corridor and at the end only get a lift heading to the room. Very confusing for my first time staying. Breakfast is okay.
Jun 24, 2025 · Isma NajwaI booked this hotel because of a business trip and it is quite disappointing. The service is fine, the location is excellent, but the room.... Let down pretty badly. For starters. It has a lot of cockroaches. A small one, not a big one. But it is annoying and scary because of hygienic issues. The air-conditioning is all right, the shower is good with heater. But for me the let down is cockroaches. I think management needs to solve this problem and take this cockroach infestation seriously
Mar 16, 2025 · DIARI PENGEMBARAFew things i wanted to highlight:The Bad1. The room is not being cleaned thoroughly. Our room still has lots of hair from previous tenants. There is a housekeeping being done, but only emptying of the bins, refilling of the refreshments, and tidying up the bed sheets. No vacuuming is done on the carpet. Perhaps can improve on this one.2. Our bedsheets have stains. I mean really obvious stains that you cannot hide. Maybe consider changing or throwing away bedsheets that you can no longer cleaned? The Good1. The location is strategic. Few steps away from Sogo & Pertama Complex.2. Nearby LRT station (Bandaraya Station). Just have to walk few steps to reach the hotel.3. 7 eleven just next to it.4. The price is reasonable as well5. Next to a mini-mall which contains shops that sells vintage products.Overall, just need to improve on the housekeeping part.
