In the heart of Temerloh, a town well-loved for its delicious Patin fish and laid-back charm, a vibrant new attraction has emerged, captivating the imagination of locals and visitors alike. We're talking about The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh, an ingenious piece of street art that has quickly become a must-visit "check-in location" in Pahang. This isn't just any mural; it's a clever 3D painting that transforms an ordinary staircase into a breathtaking, cascading waterfall, offering a truly unique visual experience.
The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh is a testament to the power of public art to transform urban spaces and spark joy. Located in Taman Kenangan, this striking mural is an optical illusion that cleverly uses perspective to create the impression of a powerful waterfall flowing down a set of stairs. It's a fantastic example of 3D street art, which, as one local reviewer aptly put it, "looks like a 3D waterfall" when you capture it in a photograph. This artistic marvel not only beautifies its surroundings but also offers an interactive experience for those who visit. It challenges your perception and invites you to engage with the art, becoming part of the illusion itself. For us, the residents of Pahang, it represents a fresh, creative addition to our local landscape, providing a fun and unique spot for leisure and photography. It highlights the growing appreciation for urban art within our community and adds another layer to Temerloh's already rich cultural tapestry. This mural is more than just paint on a wall; it's a conversation starter, a photo backdrop, and a source of local pride, showcasing a different facet of what makes Temerloh so special.

By Car/Motorcycle: Driving is the most convenient way to reach the mural. Jalan Semantan 3 is a local road within the Taman Kenangan residential area. You can use navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps by simply searching for "The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh" or by inputting the full address. Parking might be available along the roadside in the residential area, but visitors should be mindful of local residents and ensure they do not obstruct traffic or driveways.
From Temerloh Town Centre: The mural is a relatively short drive from the main Temerloh town centre. Depending on traffic, it should only take a few minutes to reach. Follow local signage towards Taman Kenangan or use your navigation app for precise directions.
From the East-West Expressway (E8) / Federal Route 2: For those coming from outside Temerloh (e.g., from Kuantan or Kuala Lumpur), exit at the Temerloh interchange and then navigate towards the Taman Kenangan area. The mural is not directly visible from main roads, so rely on navigation to guide you into the residential streets.
Public Transport: While Temerloh has local bus services, direct routes to this specific residential street might be limited. If using public transport, taking a local taxi or an e-hailing service (if available for short distances) from Temerloh bus terminal would be the most practical option for the final leg of the journey.
On Foot/Cycling: If you are staying nearby in Taman Kenangan or another adjacent neighbourhood, the mural is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, offering a pleasant local exploration.
Given its location in a residential setting, planning your visit with a navigation app is highly recommended to ensure a smooth journey to this unique spot.
The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh is a public art installation, and as such, it doesn't offer conventional "services" in the way a commercial business or a large tourist complex would. Its primary "service" is providing a unique visual and interactive experience. However, we can look at the benefits and amenities it implicitly offers:
Free Public Art Display: The most significant "service" is the free and open access to a high-quality, engaging piece of 3D street art for all members of the public.
Photography Backdrop: It serves as an excellent, creative backdrop for photographs, allowing visitors to capture unique and fun illusions. This is a major draw for social media enthusiasts and families.
Local Attraction/Check-in Spot: It acts as a local landmark and a popular "check-in location," contributing to Temerloh's appeal and offering a new point of interest for both residents and visitors.
Visual Entertainment: The mural provides visual entertainment and stimulates curiosity through its clever optical illusion, offering a refreshing break from the ordinary.
Community Beautification: By transforming a mundane staircase into a vibrant artwork, it contributes to the beautification of the local neighborhood, fostering a sense of pride and liveliness.
Interactive Experience: The 3D nature of the mural encourages interaction; visitors are invited to pose and experiment with angles to achieve the best illusory effect.
Cultural Engagement: It promotes engagement with local art and culture, showcasing creative talent within the community.
Essentially, the "services" provided by The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh are centered around enhancing public space, offering free entertainment, and creating memorable experiences through art.
Captivating 3D Optical Illusion: The foremost highlight is its stunning 3D effect. When viewed from the right angle and especially when photographed, the flat painting transforms into a convincing three-dimensional waterfall, making it feel "quite cool here," as one reviewer noted.
Entire Staircase as a Canvas: It's particularly unique because it utilizes the "entire staircase" as its canvas. This bold and expansive use of space sets it apart from many other murals and contributes significantly to its immersive effect.
Interactive Photo Opportunities: The mural is designed for interaction. Visitors are encouraged to pose with the waterfall, creating fun and dynamic photos where they appear to be at the edge of a real cascading water feature. This makes it a prime "new check-in location" for social media.
Urban Art Transformation: It highlights how urban art can revitalise and add character to everyday spaces, turning a functional staircase into an artistic landmark.
Cooling Visual Effect: While not literally cooler, the visual of flowing water can evoke a sense of coolness and refreshment, especially appealing in Malaysia’s tropical climate.
Local Pride and Novelty: For Temerloh, it's a point of local pride and a relatively "new" attraction that offers something different from the usual F&B or natural attractions in the area.
These features collectively make The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh a fascinating and enjoyable stop for anyone interested in unique visual experiences and creative street art.
As a public art installation and a free-to-access attraction, The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh does not typically have "promotions" or "special offers" in a commercial sense. The main "offer" is its free accessibility to everyone. However, its value as a local attraction can be seen in other ways:
Free Entertainment and Art Appreciation: The most significant "promotion" is the free access to a unique and engaging piece of 3D art. It provides visual entertainment and a creative outlet for photography without any cost.
Community Enhancement: The mural serves as a form of community beautification, funded likely by local government or community initiatives, offering a continuous benefit to residents and visitors.
Social Media Buzz: Its "check-in" appeal generates free promotion through social media shares. Every photo taken and shared by visitors acts as organic advertising, inviting more people to discover this local gem.
Local Business Tie-ins (Potential): While not direct promotions from the mural itself, its popularity could lead to indirect benefits for nearby local businesses. For example, a local cafe or shop nearby might see increased foot traffic due to visitors coming to see the mural. Such promotions would be initiated by those businesses.
The "offer" of The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh lies in its inherent artistic value and its contribution to the local landscape, providing a delightful and cost-free experience for anyone passing through or specifically visiting.
As a public mural located on a staircase in a residential area, The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh does not have a dedicated phone number or a specific contact office. It is an open-air art installation. The local authority, Majlis Perbandaran Temerloh (Temerloh Municipal Council), would generally be responsible for the maintenance and management of such public spaces and artworks. Therefore, for any official inquiries regarding the mural or public amenities in the area, you would typically contact the Temerloh Municipal Council.

The Waterfall Mural of Temerloh Reviews
This is Temerloh’s new check-in location!Maybe you won’t think it’s a big deal when you see it in person, but when you take a photo, it looks like a 3D waterfall! Maybe it’s because of the 3D painting of the waterfall, it feels quite cool here🤣! Moreover, this is the first time I have seen the entire staircase used as a mural👍Personally, I think you have to get there early if you want to go. After all, the murals painted on the ground will be very worn, and after the wear and tear (other local governments) generally rarely (will?) repair them!
