Amigo Hotel Introduce
Are you a resident of Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur or planning a visit to the vibrant heart of the city, looking for an accommodation option that puts you right amidst the action? Finding a place to stay that is conveniently located is often a top priority. Amigo Hotel, nestled on Jalan Petaling in Kuala Lumpur's iconic Chinatown, offers a central address that immediately places guests at the pulse of a culturally rich and dynamic district. This article aims to provide a factual overview of Amigo Hotel, drawing on publicly available information and recent customer experiences, to help locals in Kuala Lumpur make an informed decision about their stay.
Amigo Hotel positions itself as a centrally located establishment that offers accommodation in a bustling part of Kuala Lumpur. Its primary appeal lies in its address, which provides immediate access to one of the city's most famous and lively areas. For those who prioritize being in the thick of the action, surrounded by local culture, diverse culinary offerings, and unique shopping experiences, the hotel's location is a significant draw. While the property aims to serve guests seeking a convenient base for urban exploration, it is crucial for potential visitors to align their expectations with the type of services and facilities typically found in such a centrally located, potentially budget-oriented establishment. This overview will help you understand if Amigo Hotel fits your needs for a short stay, a city getaway, or an exploration of Kuala Lumpur's heritage sites.
The location of Amigo Hotel is undeniably its most prominent feature, offering unparalleled access to Kuala Lumpur's iconic Chinatown and beyond. It is strategically situated at 107, Jalan Petaling, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This address places the hotel directly on Jalan Petaling, which is synonymous with the vibrant Petaling Street, a renowned area famous for its bustling night market, an extensive array of food stalls, traditional shophouses, and a lively atmosphere that captures the essence of old Kuala Lumpur.
Being on Jalan Petaling means that guests are immediately surrounded by a plethora of local amenities. You are literally steps away from countless eateries offering authentic Malaysian street food, diverse restaurants, and unique shops selling everything from souvenirs to traditional crafts. This immediate proximity allows for effortless immersion into the local culture and culinary scene. Furthermore, the hotel's City Centre location ensures excellent accessibility to Kuala Lumpur’s comprehensive public transportation network. It is typically within a short walking distance to major LRT (Light Rail Transit) and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) stations, such as Pasar Seni. From these stations, guests can conveniently travel to other popular areas of Kuala Lumpur, including the modern shopping districts of Bukit Bintang, the iconic Petronas Twin Towers at KLCC, and the major transportation hub of KL Sentral. This prime and well-connected location significantly reduces travel time and enhances overall convenience, making it an ideal base for exploring the city's myriad attractions, whether for leisure or business.
Based on customer feedback, the services and facilities at Amigo Hotel, particularly for dormitory accommodations, might present some challenges for guests. While a hotel typically offers a range of amenities for comfort and convenience, reviews suggest that guests should manage their expectations carefully.
- Room Types: The hotel appears to offer different room categories, including "dormitories" and potentially "real hotel" rooms, which are described as "pretty decent" by one reviewer, suggesting varying levels of comfort.
- Air Conditioning: Air conditioning is generally available, though one reviewer noted it was "stuffy" and "not very effective" in dormitories.
- Water Heater: Functionality of the water heater is mentioned, with one review stating it "functioned properly." However, there are also reports of "Water disruption all time," with long wait times for repairs.
- Reception/Management Availability: While contracts might state provisions for after-hours contact, customer feedback indicates difficulty in "Reaching to management on weekend" or getting immediate assistance for maintenance issues.
- Wi-Fi Access: While not explicitly detailed for all areas, one review notes "poor Wi-Fi on 3rd floor" for a similar nearby property, and another user mentions difficulties with internet in general in such establishments.
- Shared Common Area/Facilities (for dormitories): There is a "shared common area" and "washing machine" available, but reviews highlight issues with cleanliness and usage, including clothes being "thrown or stolen." Shared toilet and showering facilities are mentioned for dormitories, with specific concerns about cleanliness and limited availability (e.g., "Only one for toilet related businesses and another for shower - shared among 12 beds").
- Room Access: Door access codes are mentioned, though reviews suggest they are unreliable ("Forget about it"). The hotel provides one key and one access card per room, even for two occupants, with a charge for copies.
- Maintenance Issues: Reviews report delayed or non-existent maintenance for "Everything that ruins in your room," with long wait times for repairs, including for the "Elevator."
Prospective guests, especially those considering dormitories, are strongly advised to carefully review recent feedback regarding these services before booking.
Amigo Hotel's highlights primarily revolve around its strategic location, which places guests in the center of Kuala Lumpur's vibrant Chinatown, though other features are subject to varying guest experiences.
- Unbeatable Chinatown Location: This is the hotel's strongest asset. Being on "Jalan Petaling, City Centre," guests are immediately immersed in the lively atmosphere of Chinatown. This offers direct access to the bustling night markets, diverse street food, and unique local shops.
- Proximity to Attractions: The hotel's central position ensures easy pedestrian access to numerous "shops, restaurants, and local attractions" within Chinatown and nearby areas, making it convenient for exploring the cultural heart of Kuala Lumpur.
- Convenience for Exploring on Foot: As highlighted by a positive reviewer, the location is "incredibly convenient for exploring the area on foot," reducing reliance on external transport for immediate surroundings.
- Potential for "Real Hotel" Rooms: One review suggests that "real hotel - those rooms looked pretty decent," implying that non-dormitory rooms might offer a more comfortable experience compared to the noted issues in the dormitories.
- Views (from specific areas/dormitories): A dormitory review mentions "great views though" from the rooftop area, suggesting some scenic vantage points, possibly of landmarks like Merdeka 118 or Menara Kuala Lumpur.
It is important for potential guests to note that while the location is a significant highlight, the overall guest experience, particularly concerning service, maintenance, and dormitory conditions, has received highly negative feedback in recent reviews.
For those interested in contacting Amigo Hotel, here is the essential information:
Phone: 03-2857 3999
Mobile Phone: +60 3-2857 3999
Address: 107, Jalan Petaling, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Given the highly critical customer reviews, it is strongly advised to contact the hotel directly to inquire about specific room types, current operational status of facilities (e.g., elevator, water supply, Wi-Fi), and to clarify any concerns based on the negative feedback before making a booking. This direct communication is crucial for managing expectations.
For locals in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Amigo Hotel, despite its central location, presents a mixed picture regarding its suitability. While its prime spot on Jalan Petaling offers unparalleled access to Chinatown's vibrant atmosphere, rich culinary scene, and cultural attractions, recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns that locals should be keenly aware of before considering a stay. If your absolute top priority is being directly in the heart of Chinatown for a very short, no-frills stay, and you are prepared to manage potential issues with service, maintenance, and basic amenities, then the location might be appealing for its convenience in accessing local food and markets.
However, for a comfortable or hassle-free experience, especially for longer stays or if you are considering the dormitory options, the negative feedback regarding dirty common areas, unresponsive management, frequent water disruptions, non-functional elevators, and issues with shared facilities (like washing machines) suggests that "there are better options nearby with more thoughtful service and better facilities." While the hotel's "real hotel" rooms are hinted to be "pretty decent," the overall pattern of issues, including charges for extra keys and difficulties with basic maintenance, indicates a level of service that might not meet the expectations of many local residents seeking a reliable and comfortable city stay or staycation. Locals are strongly advised to heed the detailed reviews and explore alternatives, particularly for dormitories, to ensure a pleasant and stress-free experience in their own capital city.

Amigo Hotel Reviews
Hey guys this is the worst hotel I've ever been to, so read carefully please before you rent .1- Sharing common area is so dirty, and management will just send their people to throw your food without telling you with the excuse it's ruin, when actually I bought it like yesterday but fine let it be cause we are collecting money from the trees.2- Everything that ruins in your room, if you call for maintenance they will never come and look at it immediately with the excuse they are very far when actually they are living at the same building second floor.3- Reaching to management on weekend is a big no, no one will answer you no matter how many times u call or text, even though it's stated on the contract that if you reach out to them after working hours there is extra charge ok fine where are you when we need you?4- Water disruption all time, to fix the thing you need to wait for 2 or 3 weeks. So if you are coming back from work and your tired good luck to you.5- If you voice out or say anything in the what's app group you will be blocked and only admins can text, because no one can voice out.6- They like renting the place out to all shady people.7- If you forgot your key in your room they will charge you from RM 80 to RM 200 based on management mood and your nationality la.8- Elevator is not working and we have to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for them to repair like seriously this is 2023 they just don't Wana pay for the company to settle it.9- The washing machine is constantly full, so forget about using it cause there is someone who is doing Dobby business that's why always busy no system for people and no common sense, ohh also your clothes will be thrown or stolen CCTV works only to disturb tenants who put their shoes inside.10- Door access code ? Forget about it .11- You are two person living in the same room you will only get one key and one access card they won't give u another key Wana know why? Cause you have to pay RM 150 to get a copy.12- If you have a delivery forget about it, it will be stolen .That's all breach of contract and they know that so since there is no hotel union or any part to report to I'm voicing out here on their review to save anyone who is coming to this place .. be aware .I've done my part .
Oct 06, 2023 · Adnan AliApplicable for dormitories only. Do not ever book your stay with Amigo Hotel for the dormitories. It’s located at the roof of the hotel - the floor isn’t even properly paved and you live amongst rooftop hanging of laundry, water tanks and air-conditioning outlets (great views though). Requested for lower deck prior to check in but didn’t get back to me regarding it. Room condition is terrible. Missing window panes, stuffy air-conditioning, small room size and low ceiling space for upper deck. For all your claustrophobic needs. The toilet and showering facilities looks dirty and hideous. Only one for toilet related businesses and another for shower - shared among 12 beds. Surely it has one of the lowest price around town but it was SO BAD that I decided to walk into another hostel down the street and stayed there instead. Otherwise, pay a little more and stay in the real hotel - those rooms looked pretty decent. But regarding the dormitories; I’m not over exaggerating. Go read the reviews before booking.
Jan 08, 2019 · Samuel W ScalebI would like to share with everyone my experience being at this hotel for almost a year so you guys can choose wisely in the future.1- Frequent incident of no water at the hotel for more than a week and the management will ask you to shower on the other budget hotel near by which is not convinience.2- If u forget your keys inside the room, the maintenance will come to open the door with t&c u need to pay at least RM80 even thou u didnt lost the key.3- 24 hours washing machine and dryer being used. U will not have time to used it. By the time u wanna used it, its off and need to wait for maintenance to repair.4- If you are on management whatsapp group voice out whats happening, they will make sure they put the stop on you. Due to that, now they only allowed admin to post on the group.5- If there is any maintenance issue, they will never fix on sat or sunday or public holiday. U need to wait until monday or any working day for their maintenance to come and fix it for u.6- The worst part is the lift. Now it become an issue especially if youre living at the 6th floor because u need to take the stairs until they fixed the lift. Approximately up to 2 weeks depends on their excuses. So good luck guys and all new comers who want to rent here. Bu the way we are under coliving management.
Oct 06, 2023 · Nur Saffa Safraa SuhaimiClean, quite spacious, we book room for 3 person, 1 queen bed and 1 single bed. Bathroom also quite big. Have elevator but from road level to lobby receptionist need to go by stairs. So if you bring big luggage be prepare. You need to deposit some money and for additional room card also. Outside hotel is shopping street (crowded at night) that you can find street food and do shopping, remember to bargain.
Feb 22, 2019 · Just JennzWorst experience ever. Very disappointing for eastern standarts. Stayed in a upgraded room and nothing was like supposed to. Price not corresponding to reality of the room. Rooms very small and could be better maintained, Dark room. Great shower thou and bathroom look modern, but you have a shower by your toilet as there is no separation and then all bathroom is floated. No English TV channels. No elevator until 1st floor. Some of staff are very very nice but others, made us feel very uncomfortable and was very intrusive. Very disappointing after reading great reviews and high qualifications...
