Arenaa Star Hotel Introduce
For us living in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, finding a hotel that offers a balance of affordability, essential amenities, and a truly strategic location can make all the difference, whether it's for a quick business trip, a family weekend in the city, or hosting out-of-town guests. **Arenaa Star Hotel**, situated right in the vibrant City Centre, presents itself as an option that aims to cater to these needs, especially for those who prioritize location and value for money.
Positioned as a 3-star establishment, Arenaa Star Hotel has been serving guests since 2012, offering 247 rooms across 11 floors. It adopts a modern approach with a subtle cinematic theme, aiming to create a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. While some past reviews indicate areas where improvements could be made, particularly concerning room conditions and service consistency, many guests still appreciate its fundamental offerings and, most importantly, its undeniable prime location. As a "budget hotel," as noted by a customer, it is important to set expectations accordingly, focusing on the convenience and core amenities it provides. This article will explore what Arenaa Star Hotel offers, highlighting its strengths and why it might still be a suitable choice for locals.
The most compelling aspect of Arenaa Star Hotel is undoubtedly its **prime location** in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. You can find it at **49-51, Jalan Hang Lekiu, City Centre, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia**. This places it in an incredibly advantageous spot, making it highly accessible to many of Kuala Lumpur's most iconic landmarks and essential facilities.
For us locals, the accessibility of Jalan Hang Lekiu is well-known. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the **Masjid Jamek LRT Station**, which offers excellent connectivity across the city's extensive public transport network. This makes it incredibly easy to reach destinations like KLCC (for the Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC), Bukit Bintang's shopping haven, and other commercial and entertainment hubs without the need for a car. Additionally, the **Pasar Seni MRT Station** is also nearby, further enhancing its public transport links. The **Pudu Sentral Bus Station** is also a short walk away, convenient for intercity bus travel.
Beyond public transport, the hotel's immediate vicinity is rich with attractions. It's only a 5-minute walk to **Merdeka Square**, the historic site where Malaysia's independence was declared, and the iconic **Sultan Abdul Samad Building**. **Central Market (Pasar Seni)**, a vibrant cultural and shopping hub, and **Petaling Street (Chinatown)**, famous for its bustling atmosphere and street food, are also within easy walking distance. Even the **KL Tower** is a mere 10-minute walk away. For those who prefer driving, there is "free private parking on site," though it is noted that parking can be "very limited, particularly on weekends," and is subject to availability. The hotel is also well-situated for ride-hailing services.
Arenaa Star Hotel provides a range of services and facilities designed to cater to the basic needs of travelers, with a focus on functionality and convenience within a budget hotel framework.
- Room Types: The hotel offers various room configurations, including Superior, Deluxe, and Family rooms, with options for single, twin, queen, or triple beds. Some rooms are available with windows and city views, while others are noted as having "no windows."
- In-Room Amenities: All rooms are air-conditioned and generally include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a work desk, telephone, in-room safe, and tea/coffee making facilities. A minibar is also typically provided. International plugs are available, which can be quite helpful.
- Dining Options: The hotel features at least one in-house restaurant, "Harry's Bistro," which serves a variety of Asian and Western cuisine all day. There are also coffee shops/cafes on-site. Breakfast is available, though some reviews indicate it might finish early or have limited vegetarian options. Halal food options are available.
- Fitness Centre: Located on the 11th floor, the fitness center is equipped with exercise machines, allowing guests to stay active.
- Rooftop Jacuzzi: The 11th floor also features a moderate-sized Jacuzzi tub with bubble jets, offering a space for relaxation and rejuvenation.
- Meeting & Event Facilities: Function rooms with a capacity of up to 200 pax are available on the 4th Floor of the Annexe building, equipped for meetings and events.
- 24-Hour Reception: A round-the-clock front desk ensures assistance is available at any time for check-in/check-out and inquiries.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the property, including in rooms.
- Other Services: These include luggage storage, a tour desk for assistance with local attractions, laundry service, room service (during limited hours), and daily housekeeping.
Arenaa Star Hotel’s main highlights revolve around its practicality and strategic positioning, particularly for those who are budget-conscious but want to stay in a central area.
- Exceptional Location: This is by far its strongest asset. Being within walking distance of Masjid Jamek LRT/MRT, Central Market, Chinatown, and Merdeka Square means guests have immediate access to historical sites, cultural experiences, shopping, and diverse food options. This convenience minimizes travel time and costs.
- Affordable Accommodation: As a "budget hotel," it provides a more economical stay option compared to many other hotels in the city centre. This is particularly appealing for travelers looking to maximize their experience while being mindful of expenses.
- Rooftop Jacuzzi: The availability of a Jacuzzi on the 11th floor offers a unique relaxation amenity, allowing guests to unwind with a view of the city. While not a full pool, it serves its purpose for a quick dip and relaxation.
- In-Room International Plugs: A practical and thoughtful feature, the presence of international plugs in rooms is very helpful for travelers with various electronic devices, preventing the need for multiple adapters.
- Themed Floors: Each floor has individually designed themes from entertainment scenes of various countries, adding a unique and interesting element to the hotel's ambiance.
- Suitable for Kids (Rooftop Pool Mention): One review mentioned "They have pool at the rooftop, suitable for kids." While other sources sometimes refer to it as a Jacuzzi or wading pool rather than a full swimming pool, the mention of it being "suitable for kids" suggests it's a family-friendly spot for some water-based fun.
- Good for Short Stays/Business: For those on short trips or primarily outside exploring, the hotel serves as a functional base. The provision of an "extra card for electric used only" is a thoughtful touch for those who might be out frequently but want to keep devices charging.

For us locals in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Arenaa Star Hotel offers a compelling proposition primarily due to its **unbeatable location**. Being situated on Jalan Hang Lekiu means you’re literally steps away from historical sites, cultural markets, and major public transport hubs like Masjid Jamek LRT. This makes it incredibly convenient for family outings to places like Central Market or a quick trip to explore the vibrant street art and food scene around Petaling Street, all without the hassle of driving or long commutes.
While some past guest experiences suggest areas for improvement, particularly regarding consistency in service and certain room aspects like potential odours or windowless rooms (it's wise to request a windowed room if that's a preference), it's important to remember that it is positioned as a "budget hotel." For the price point, it delivers on its promise of a central location and essential facilities. The presence of a rooftop Jacuzzi (or wading pool suitable for kids) and a fitness center adds value, offering spaces to relax and stay active. For a no-frills, strategically located base in the heart of Kuala Lumpur that keeps your wallet happy, Arenaa Star Hotel remains a practical and accessible option for us locals.

Arenaa Star Hotel Reviews
The service and staff were somewhat unfriendly. The rooms stinked of smoking even though they were non smoking room. They changed the room after 3 consistent requests. The breakfast was finished before the ending time. There were no towels in our room, had to ask twice for them and they still didn’t give us hand towels. And the creepiest and most uncomfortable were the rooms with no windows in the room and bathrooms that didn’t close properly so you could see from a crease if someone was in the bathroom. The room was clean and the international plugs were helpful. I would suggest to spend your money somewhere better.
Jun 16, 2025 · kavisha desaiFirst of all, this is a budget hotel. So you get what you pay. I check in at 10pm, and check out at 5.30am, and the receptionist is there. Everything in the hotel is okay and satisfactory. Workers are helpful, and give no issue. As I stay for 4 nights, and most of the time was outside, I have decided for no room service during my stay. The hotel give me an extra card for electric used only, which is good. Room was okay, aircond is so-so. They have pool at the rooftop, suitable for kids.
May 20, 2025 · Hafizul KadirIt’s a budget hotel. They charge an extra RM50 deposit when you check in but you get it back when you leave. They do not help you with your luggage even though they have a valet sitting in the front of the building. The air conditioner in the room is minimal. Bring your own bath towel and toiletries. The shower in my room wasn’t well designed. When I turn the water on, water splashes that it makes all the way to the bedroom floor so I had to lay a towel down to absorb the water that was making its way into the bedroom floor. There is also no place to put your toiletries in the shower. House keeping is a joke. The same guy who works as a waiting in the morning during breakfast is also the housekeeper. He does the bare minimum. Takes out the trash and makes your bed that’s it. Concierge is also very unhelpful. Don’t bother asking them any questions because they will either ignore you or just simply not make an effort to help. The gym on the website does not match what you see in person. The gym is dirty and run down. The only thing in the gym that works are the free weights. All the remaining exercise machines don’t work. There is no air conditioner in the gym , the fans they installed on the wall in the gym also do not work and there are no lights in the gym so if you’re working out at night, you will be working out in the dark. I went to the concierge to express my concerns about the gym. The breakfast buffet has decent options. The hotel doesn’t have a microwave available except in the kitchen which is open only in the morning so if you need to heat up some food it’s not going to happen you might as well eat it cold. The room does not come with an iron or an ironing board. They don't offer laundry service. Thank god I am self sufficient and well acquainted with laundromat. I found a 24 hours laundromat just 6 minute walk from the hotel and I was able to get my own laundry done for RM12 . The location is great. It’s walking distance from most tourist attractions.
Apr 08, 2025 · Tino M-ZeI rarely post any negative reviews but I feel I'm obligated to point out businesses that are so poorly operated that it should be a crime that they are still running. The rooms are dirty and still smell like cigarettes. The bathroom are unable to be locked, towels are old and dirty. We booked a few days but have to check out early due to the very dirty conditions and when asked for refund, the counter claimed that this Mr Nicholas person in charge will refund but after many calls and emails left unanswered, I guess this is how they cheated their customers. Even for budget hotel, there are certain conducts and principle that a business should adhere to.Nearby seems like some slums and full with shady people. Overall, very bad experience. Pleas stay away from this hotel
Jun 03, 2025 · Samuel Tong (Tremble)I rarely write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about this hotel. From the moment I checked in, I regretted it. The hallway reeked of cigarette smoke despite the hotel claiming to be non-smoking. It was nauseating and made walking to my room unbearable.Once inside the room, things got even worse. The bed sheets were visibly dirty, stained, and clearly not changed from the previous guest. To top it all off, I found a cockroach crawling near the nightstand — absolutely revolting and unacceptable. This place needs a serious overhaul in cleanliness and management. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere — your health and comfort are worth more.
