How I Fell for This PlaceIt all started with the photos. You know when you’re scrolling through Airbnb and something just grabs you? That was me. The pictures of this house instantly made me dream of escaping reality for a while. Big enough to fit the whole family during visits, and the kind of view that makes you pause and just stare.Getting there was… an adventure. We arrived around 5 PM, just as it was starting to get dark. The road up to the house was a bit nerve racking at first. Bumpy, narrow, full of potholes, and barely any lights. But honestly, I think that road was designed that way on purpose. More on that later.Once we made it up the shaky climb, we were greeted by this three story house and parking along the roadside. Emma, our host, met us with a warm smile and walked us down a paved path toward the entrance. And boom, there it was. The pool. The view. Just breathtaking. You stand there looking out over the mountains and nature, and your whole body just relaxes. We had booked three bedrooms with a total of nine beds. Each room had its own bathroom, which is a lifesaver when you’re traveling with a group. My personal favorite was the rooms closest to the pool, you had your own door straight outside. Waking up and almost rolling right into the pool for a morning swim? Not a bad way to start the day.Speaking of mornings, breakfast was served at 9 AM sharp. Always fresh, tasty, and surprisingly high quality. A really nice touch that everyone appreciated, from the little ones to the grandparents.Coffee, tea, and water were also available at any time, and the service in general was super thoughtful. We had both young and old with us, and everything just worked smoothly. The karaoke and movie room also turned out to be a solid bonus in the evenings. Now, one thing to note:There’s a maid living on the same floor as the guest rooms. But over our four day stay, we didn’t see her once. Which was… both a good thing and a bit odd. On one hand, it gave us full privacy, on the other I kind of forgot she was even there. Then something unexpected happened. One night, we ordered food for delivery and opened the door… only to see a bunch of police officers, police cars, and motorbikes right outside. I don’t know about you, but my first reaction wasn’t comfort. It was more like, what’s going on? Felt a little uneasy at first. And every time we ordered a taxi, the driver would ask, “Why are there so many police around here?” I’d just laugh it off and say, “They’re here to protect me.”But after a few days, we got used to it. Turns out, it’s a rest stop for police. The location is very strategic, and it made more sense when I started thinking about the area. It’s full of large villas, and probably more at risk for theft. You can’t even see the police vehicles from the road below, they’re tucked away. And maybe that bumpy road is actually part of the plan, to make the whole area feel more secluded and secure. That’s my theory anyway.Would I recommend this place? Absolutely. It’s peaceful, spacious, and has that quiet luxury vibe without being stiff or overly fancy. At first, it felt a bit strange knowing the host and her family lived on the top floor, but we quickly got over that. Sitting outside in the evening with a drink, watching the amazing view, you stop thinking about it and just enjoy the moment.Thank you, Emma and Siblings, for sharing this incredible home with us. I’d love to come back and we will. - Joey Hiew
