Bukit Senorang has quickly become a local favorite, renowned for its well-maintained trails and breathtaking views, especially the elusive 'awan karpet' (carpet clouds) on a misty morning. Whether you're a seasoned hiker aiming for a quick ascent or a beginner looking for a leisurely walk with family, Bukit Senorang promises an enjoyable and memorable outing. Its unique landscape, featuring a mix of oil palm and rubber plantations before ascending into a more natural forest, offers a diverse visual experience along the way.
Bukit Senorang (Tapak mula laluan mendaki) is conveniently located at Kampung Tan Sri Hamzah, 28380 Kemayan, Pahang, Malaysia. Its starting point is notably easy to find, making it a hassle-free destination for both locals and those visiting the area. The trail itself is largely a red gravel/clay road, which is even accessible by motorbike for most of its length. This makes the initial part of your journey straightforward, unlike many trails that require navigating over roots and rough terrain from the outset.
One of the significant advantages for visitors is the ample parking space available at the starting point. Best of all, there’s no charge for parking at present, though it’s always advisable to park at your own risk. The ease of access, combined with readily available parking, contributes significantly to Bukit Senorang's appeal as a user-friendly hiking destination in Pahang.
- Clear and easily identifiable starting point for hikers.

- Garbage bags provided at certain points to encourage cleanliness.
- Cement chairs strategically placed along the trail for resting.

Experienced hikers can reach the peak in around 40 minutes, while beginners can comfortably complete the hike at a slower pace with breaks.

- Stunning Views: On clear days, the peak offers expansive, unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape.
- 'Awan Karpet' Phenomenon: A significant highlight for many visitors is the chance to witness the 'awan karpet' or carpet clouds. After a rainy night, arriving early (around 9 AM++) often increases your chances of seeing this beautiful misty phenomenon, a truly rewarding sight.
- Resting Points: There are about 3-4 marble benches and cement chairs scattered along the trail, providing convenient spots to take a quick rest, rehydrate, and enjoy the scenery.
- Clean and Well-Maintained: Hikers consistently praise the cleanliness of the trail, a testament to the community's efforts, with garbage bags even provided at certain points.
- Unique Animal Farm Sightings: Along the trail, you might even spot an animal farm, adding an unexpected and delightful element to your hike.

The ample and free parking also adds to the overall value proposition for visitors.
Additionally, for those who enjoy a post-hike meal, a highly recommended local "special offer" from fellow hikers is to grab breakfast at Pokok Besar Kopitiam upon your return. They are known for making a good roti bakar, providing a delicious and affordable reward after your physical activity. Bukit Senorang (Tapak mula laluan mendaki) Reviews
95% of the trail is a red gravel/clay road, which goes through oil palm and rubber plantations (motorbike accessible). So in that sense, it is an easy trail which doesn't require climbing over tree roots etc until you're almost at the top. However, the trail goes up and down over several hills and can be steep at some parts. Slippery too, if it rains. Experienced hikers should find this a breeze and get to the peak in 40+ mins, while beginners should be able to do this with breaks in between at a slower pace. There are about 3-4 marble benches scattered along the trail. We saw small children at the top this morning, so i think this should be fairly family friendly. On our first trip, it was a clear view. On our second trip today, we arrived earlier and tried to catch the 'awan karpet' or carpet clouds as it had rained last night. The trail was cool and misty, and we hung around for an hour+ at the peak before we were rewarded with a couple of minutes of awan karpet when the sun came out around 9am++. However, the clouds didn't get low enough for a good view of awan karpet before the sun got hidden in clouds again, so we will try again another time. When you get back to your car, we recommend breakfasting at Pokok Besar Kopitiam, they make a good roti bakar 😋
