Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh Introduce
Salam sejahtera, warga Selangor! If you're seeking a unique and tranquil spot to unwind, enjoy a picnic, or simply appreciate a piece of Selangor's intriguing history, then Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh in Serendah is a place worth discovering. Often known as the 'Seven Wells Recreational Park' or 'Telaga Tujuh Serendah', this hidden gem offers a curious blend of historical engineering and natural charm, making it a peaceful escape for locals looking for something a little different from the usual bustling attractions.
Perigi Tujuh, which translates to 'Seven Wells', is not just a typical park. It's built around a small, historic dam featuring seven distinct sluices or "sink holes" that create a fascinating visual effect as water flows through them. While its exact age is debated, with some suggesting post-WWII construction and others believing it to be a robust piece of British engineering possibly over a century old, its purpose was likely flood mitigation or water control for the area's historical tin mining activities. Today, it stands as a testament to past ingenuity and a quiet retreat for visitors. While it's a relatively "small place," as some have noted, its unique characteristics offer a brief yet engaging natural and historical experience right here in Selangor.
Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh is situated at Lorong, Kampung Datuk Harun, 48200 Serendah, Selangor, Malaysia. Its location in Serendah places it within easy reach for residents across Selangor, offering a convenient escape to nature without a lengthy journey.
Serendah itself is a quiet town, known for its natural beauty and is well-connected by road networks. If you are driving from Kuala Lumpur or other parts of Selangor, you can typically reach Serendah via Federal Route 1. Once in Serendah, finding Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh is relatively straightforward. According to directions, you can turn right at the traffic lights into Jalan Dato Harun, continue straight until the road ends, and then turn left; the park will be close by. The exact location is often highlighted on mapping applications, making navigation simple.
The park is an open area with unrestricted access, and there is no entrance fee, which makes it an appealing, budget-friendly option. Visitors can generally park on the roadside near the entrance. Its accessibility within a local kampung area means a more laid-back atmosphere compared to more commercialized parks. For locals, this ease of access makes Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh a practical choice for a spontaneous outing or a quick breath of fresh air.
As a public recreational park centered around a historical water management structure, Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh offers basic amenities and a natural environment for passive recreation. It is not a commercially operated attraction with extensive services, but rather a community space. Based on available information and common features of such public parks, you can expect the following informal "services":
Open Access to the Seven Wells Structure: The primary "service" is the opportunity to view and appreciate the unique engineering of the 'Seven Wells' (Perigi Tujuh) – the sluices and sinkholes of the old dam structure. While the number of active wells may vary, it remains the focal point.
Picnic Areas: The park features "a couple of gazebos" on top of the dam and potentially other shaded areas, making it suitable for relaxing picnics with family and friends. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks.
Scenic Views and Photo Opportunities: The natural setting, combined with the unique dam structure, offers pleasant views and spots for photography, especially for those interested in local heritage and engineering.
Walking and Strolling Pathways: While not extensive hiking trails, the area provides space for leisurely walks around the dam and its immediate surroundings, allowing visitors to enjoy the fresh air.
Free Admission: There is no entrance fee to access Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh, making it a completely free public space for recreation.
Roadside Parking: Parking is available along the roadside near the park, allowing for convenient access for those arriving by car or motorcycle.
It's important to note that, as highlighted in some reviews, facilities like public toilets might be absent or not well-maintained. Visitors should be prepared for a natural, uncommercialized experience. The emphasis here is on appreciating the unique historical feature and enjoying a simple outdoor moment.
Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh, despite its modest size, possesses several unique features and highlights that draw visitors, particularly those appreciative of historical intrigue and tranquil natural settings:
The "Seven Wells" (Perigi Tujuh) Structure: This is the defining highlight of the park. It's a small, historic dam with seven circular sluices or "sink holes" that channel water. This unusual design, rare in Malaysia, creates a captivating visual effect, earning it the name "Seven Wells." It’s a fascinating example of old engineering, possibly built for flood control or tin mining operations.
Historical Significance: The site offers a glimpse into Selangor's past, particularly the history of water management and potentially the tin mining era in Serendah. Its sturdy stone work hints at a substantial history, adding a layer of intrigue for history buffs.
Peaceful Picnic Spot: The presence of gazebos atop the dam provides ideal spots for a relaxing picnic. It’s a quiet environment, perfect for families or individuals seeking a calm place to enjoy a meal amidst nature.
Close Proximity to Serendah Waterfall: Located very near the famous Serendah Waterfall (approximately 50 meters away), Perigi Tujuh can easily be visited as part of a longer nature outing, allowing visitors to explore two natural attractions in one trip.
Free and Unrestricted Access: The park offers free admission and open access, making it a budget-friendly and spontaneous option for a quick getaway into nature.
Unique Geological/Engineering Sight: For those interested in unusual natural or man-made structures, the seven sink holes and their whirlpool-like effect are a curious sight to behold, especially when water flow is good.
However, it is also important to address the challenges highlighted in recent reviews. While the core features are appealing, maintenance issues like "rubbish" and "grass is not being cut" and occasional disruptions from "loud music" or "chitchat" indicate areas where local authorities (Majlis Daerah) or public awareness could improve the overall visitor experience.
As a public recreational park with no entrance fee, Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh does not offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense, such as discounts, package deals, or loyalty programs. Its primary "offer" is its free and open access to a unique historical and natural site for everyone.
The value proposition of Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh lies in its inherent benefits:
Completely Free Access: There are no charges to enter the park, explore the "Seven Wells," or use the available gazebos for picnics. This makes it an incredibly budget-friendly option for leisure and relaxation.
Cost-Free Parking: Parking is typically available along the roadside without any fees, further reducing the cost of a visit.
Natural & Historical Experience at No Cost: Visitors can enjoy the unique engineering marvel of the Perigi Tujuh dam and the surrounding natural environment, along with a bit of local history, all without any financial outlay.
Proximity to Other Free Attractions: Its close vicinity to the Serendah Waterfall (also typically free to access) allows for a combined nature outing without incurring additional costs for entry.
While the park itself doesn't have promotions, local businesses in Serendah, such as eateries or small shops, might offer their own deals for visitors. However, these would be independent of Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh. The main attraction here is the inherent value of a peaceful, unique, and accessible public space.
As Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh is a public recreational park managed by local authorities rather than a commercial entity, there isn't a dedicated public phone number for the park itself. The best way to locate it is via its address:
Address: Lorong, Kampung Datuk Harun, 48200 Serendah, Selangor, Malaysia
For any inquiries related to maintenance, cleanliness, or public facilities, one might need to contact the relevant local council, which would be the Majlis Daerah Hulu Selangor (MDHS), as Serendah falls under their jurisdiction. Their general contact details can usually be found on their official website.
However, for visitors planning a trip, relying on mapping applications with the provided address is the most effective way to navigate to Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh. It is an open area, so specific operating hours are generally from morning to evening, typically around 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, although access is largely unrestricted. Visiting during daylight hours is recommended for safety and to best enjoy the environment.
For the residents of Selangor, particularly those in Rawang and the surrounding Serendah area, Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh offers a unique and accessible option for a quick escape into nature and local history. Its suitability for locals stems from several key aspects, despite some minor challenges noted in reviews.
Firstly, its convenient location and free access make it an incredibly practical choice for a spontaneous outing. You don't need to plan extensively or spend money on entrance fees, making it an ideal spot for a quick break, a refreshing walk, or an impromptu family picnic. This ease of access encourages more frequent visits, allowing locals to regularly reconnect with nature and enjoy a peaceful environment close to home.
Secondly, the historical significance and unique engineering of the "Seven Wells" provide an interesting educational and visual experience. It's not just another park; it's a small piece of Selangor's heritage, offering a glimpse into the region's past. This adds an intellectual dimension to a recreational visit, appealing to those who appreciate local history and unusual structures.
While some reviews mention issues with cleanliness and noise, these are areas that can be improved through community awareness and local council efforts. The core appeal remains: a serene setting for relaxation, whether for a quiet moment alone or a simple family gathering. Its proximity to the Serendah Waterfall further enhances its value as part of a larger natural itinerary in the area.
In conclusion, Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh stands as a testament to the quiet charm of Serendah. It provides locals with a free, easily accessible, and historically rich natural space perfect for unwinding and appreciating the unique aspects of their own backyard. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most valuable attractions are those that blend history, nature, and community spirit, offering a calm respite from the daily grind.

Taman Rekreasi Perigi Tujuh Reviews
Nice place, can't say perfect cause just a small place to talk about 5min enough for you if you're not the person who likes to cheer. One disadvantage is when I went to this place, there were 2 Indian groups that made me feel a bit unhappy, where they played the music very loudly chitchat there so I couldn't really enjoy the environment there.
Jun 04, 2025 · Harvey WongPublic throw rubbish here & seem no maintenance here..grass is not being cut. Hopefully Majlis Daerah can look into this tourist area. Urge the public to be aware of cleanliness!
Feb 06, 2025 · WCHeeNice place for a picnic...Sad to see the place not maintained well. Rubbish everywhere, otherwise beautiful place to visit
May 17, 2025 · Ms. KayPohThere is a narrow road leading to this place. Only 5 out of 7 wells seem to work now. The place is a bit dirty and unkeep. Still, it is a ok place to visit.
Jan 20, 2025 · #ryuki2517This place is a good neighbourhood recreational park. It's maintained pretty well I would say. It's a good place to exercise, catch fresh air, and see greenery. It's not a big park but it connects to the back side where I see many people fishing.I believe many local people come here to spend their evening time. While I was there, there were only around 5 - 10 people there.
