Tok Bak Campsite

Jalan Kampung Chinggung, 35900 Tanjong Malim, Perak, Malaysia

4.0
My 2nd time camping experience with my colleagues. The surrounding areas truly relaxing, refreshing with lush greenery & soothing sound of the streams. Some areas had relatively wide flat grounds with enough shades . The streams in front of the camp setting area were mostly shallow & quite safe for older children but there were at least 3 spots were dangerously deep..around 12ft. These spots mostly a bit farther, had warning sign post & suitable for fishing. The facilities provided was average. They had multiple toilets. There's a cafe or shop which opened at night . They provided very limited electricity plug point..one plug point station for the whole area. Thus, campers needed to take turn to charge up their electrical gadgets. You can only had electricity at night started around 7PM..Better bring along your powerbank & portable power supplies. Be mindful.. even though two types of road provided (normal & off road) toward the campsite..but still rather challenging for city vehicles especially after leaving the Orang Asli residential areas were you will then drove mostly one way, narrow, and muddy roads ahead. Even muddier after rain. Lowered vehicles advised not to enter here. 4x4 vehicles had no trouble traversed there. Please contact Tok Bak's staff first for the correct directions. The pinned location in Google Map leads to nowhere. - Azrul N84

Location and Accessibility

Tok Bak Campsite is situated in the picturesque, more rural areas near Tanjong Malim, Perak. Its address is Jalan Kampung Chinggung, 35900 Tanjong Malim, Perak, Malaysia. This location places it within the southern part of Perak, making it accessible for residents from various parts of the state, as well as those coming from neighboring Selangor, given Tanjong Malim's proximity to the state border.

However, it is crucial for potential visitors to understand the nature of the journey to Tok Bak Campsite. This is not a roadside attraction; it offers a true off-grid experience, and the accessibility reflects that. As one reviewer explicitly states, "Be mindful.. even though two types of road provided (normal & off road) toward the campsite..but still rather challenging for city vehicles especially after leaving the Orang Asli residential areas were you will then drove mostly one way, narrow, and muddy roads ahead. Even muddier after rain." This feedback is vital: lowered vehicles are advised not to enter, and 4x4 vehicles had no trouble traversing there.

The journey involves passing through Orang Asli residential areas, which adds to the immersive experience but also highlights the need for careful driving. Cyclists, too, found the trek challenging but ultimately worthwhile, confirming the off-road nature of the approach.

A significant note regarding navigation: "The pinned location in Google Map leads to nowhere." Therefore, it is highly recommended to contact Tok Bak's staff first for the correct directions before setting off. This pre-communication is essential to ensure a smooth arrival. The owner's responsiveness via WhatsApp, as mentioned by a cycling group, suggests that direct communication is the best way to get accurate, up-to-date guidance to this secluded gem. The adventure truly begins even before you arrive at the campsite, preparing you for the rustic charm that awaits.
