First World Plaza Introduce
For residents of Pahang seeking a distinctive shopping and entertainment experience, First World Plaza in Genting Highlands stands as an iconic and often-visited destination. Perched high above the clouds, this integrated complex is more than just a shopping mall; it's a vibrant hub that combines retail therapy with a myriad of entertainment options, all set against the backdrop of Genting’s famously cool climate. While Genting Highlands is renowned for its casino, First World Plaza offers a broader appeal, providing diverse activities for families, friends, and individuals looking for a unique getaway within Pahang.
First World Plaza is a key component of the larger Resorts World Genting integrated resort. It has undergone significant transformations over the years, aiming to provide a comprehensive leisure experience. For locals in Pahang, it offers a convenient escape to a different environment, allowing them to enjoy shopping, dining, and various leisure activities without travelling far. Whether you're looking for branded goods, a variety of food options, or just a place to enjoy the cooler air, First World Plaza strives to cater to a wide range of preferences, making it a staple destination for many in the region.
First World Plaza is prominently located in Genting Highlands, 69000 Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. Its elevated position on Genting Highlands makes it a unique destination, offering a distinct experience compared to malls in urban centres. For locals in Pahang, particularly those in the western districts, accessing Genting Highlands typically involves a scenic drive up the winding roads. While the journey is part of the experience, it's important to note that the location is designed as a resort destination, which influences its accessibility.
Access to First World Plaza is primarily facilitated via the Genting Skyway or Awana SkyWay cable car systems, which connect visitors from the base of the highlands directly to the resort area, including SkyAvenue (which links directly to First World Plaza). For those driving, there are extensive parking facilities available within the integrated resort complex. However, visitors should be aware that parking can be very busy, especially during peak seasons and holidays.
Regarding ground transportation, local ride-sharing services like Grab are available in the Genting Highlands area, although reviews suggest that finding a Grab after midnight can be challenging, often necessitating the use of taxis which "are not cheap." This highlights the importance of planning your return journey, especially if you intend to stay late. For those staying at hotels, it’s advisable to choose accommodations like First World Hotel which are directly connected or very close to the main plaza to avoid "total hassle getting around," as highlighted by a customer who stayed further away. While the location offers a unique highland experience, planning for transport and accommodation proximity is key to a smooth visit.

First World Plaza, as part of the larger Resorts World Genting (RWG) complex, frequently runs various promotions and special offers throughout the year. These promotions can range from seasonal sales to specific discounts on dining, entertainment, or accommodation packages. To get the most up-to-date and comprehensive information on current promotions, it is highly recommended that locals in Pahang check the official Resorts World Genting website directly. This is the primary source for all official announcements regarding events, deals, and special packages.
Additionally, keeping an eye on their social media channels can provide real-time updates on flash sales, holiday specials, or limited-time offers. During major festive seasons in Malaysia (e.g., Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Christmas) and school holidays, RWG typically rolls out extensive promotional campaigns to attract visitors. Some promotions might be tied to specific retail brands within the plaza, while others could be package deals including hotel stays, theme park access, or dining vouchers.
While a reviewer mentioned that "wifi wasn’t working even at Starbucks," it's worth noting that if you have mobile data access, checking the RWG website or app while at the location can sometimes reveal in-store promotions or loyalty program benefits. It’s always advisable to confirm any specific offers before making a purchase or booking to ensure accuracy and availability.

First World Plaza in Genting Highlands offers a distinctive and appealing experience that makes it highly suitable for locals in Pahang, despite some of the nuanced points raised in customer reviews. Its primary allure lies in the refreshing "cool weather" it provides, a welcome respite from the tropical heat prevalent across much of Malaysia. This unique climate allows locals to enjoy a different kind of outing, whether it's simply strolling through the plaza, enjoying an outdoor coffee, or experiencing the integrated theme park without the usual humidity.
Furthermore, as an integrated entertainment hub, First World Plaza offers a wide array of activities beyond just shopping. While the casino is a prominent feature, the availability of an "indoor theme park" like Skytropolis, diverse dining options, and various retail outlets ensures there's "much for us to do." This makes it an ideal destination for families seeking entertainment for children, friends looking for a day out, or even couples desiring a unique getaway. The direct connectivity to First World Hotel is also a significant advantage for locals planning an overnight stay, ensuring seamless access to all the amenities.
While challenges like potential wifi issues or late-night transport limitations might exist, these are often manageable with prior planning, such as considering a "day trip from KL" or booking hotels "near First World." For Pahang residents, First World Plaza represents a unique blend of leisure, entertainment, and a refreshing change of scenery, all within a reasonable distance. It provides a comprehensive escape that caters to various interests, cementing its role as a key recreational and shopping destination for the local community.

First World Plaza Reviews
Bro, honestly, there’s not much for us Muslims to do in Genting. The main thing there is the casino and the weather — that’s it. Nothing else really stands out.Best move? Just do a day trip from KL. Bring a backpack, chill for a bit, and head back. Everything shuts down by like 10 or 11 anyway. After midnight, Grab is dead. You’ll have to take a taxi if you’re stuck there late — and they’re not cheap.Food’s okay, but a bit pricey. And if you’re booking a hotel, try staying near First World. We stayed at Grand Ion Delemen — looks nice but it’s 4.5km from the center. Total hassle getting around from there.
May 27, 2025 · abdullah sajjadThere’s no wifi even if you are willing to pay for it even at Starbucks(wifi wasn’t working). Theres a huge sound system near the casino area but most of the music is basically sound pollution and will cause a headache unless you have headphones to drown out the noise.Overall I am extremely disappointed with the recent renovations as I have been coming here since the early 90s.I guess this is what happens when you have zero competition as this is the only place in Malaysia with a casino. If you are looking to work on your laptop from here, be prepared to get zero work done.
Mar 05, 2025 · Sanjay Chilled A.FFirstly, I just want to say that it is connected to two malls. Try to spend two days here and I guarantee you will miss it. You can buy everything here. Do not worried about supplies. It feels like another city to me. If you stay at the hotel, they are also connected. It is really convenient. I promise I will come here again in the future.
Jun 12, 2024 · GaMeR. BDCrowded even on weekdays. Quite hot inside the mall. Food court is nice and comfortable. Quite a numbers of indoor playground machines are not functioning (no attach with out of service notice) yet still deduct credit from token card.
