4.0
Challenging hike. It's an 18.5km return hike starting behind F30 restaurant at Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands. Not suitable for beginners. The trail can be muddy, especially during rain or after rainfall. It has some steep uphill and downhill. There are lots of tree roots, fallen trees to manoeuvre along the trail.Trail starts on the left next to a red altar. Starts with steep climb for about 600m. Can be very muddy if rainy. The trail then leads to the old road leading to Genting. Take left and walk uphill, at the junction, continue on the left. In total, about 2.5km on the road. There is a sign on the right with words GBB.This is where the GBB trail starts. About 1/2hr to 1 hr reach first check point 1, then anor 1/2 to 1 hr to check point 2 . After check point 2, about 1 hr to reach Rocky Garden. The view is nice here. Can rest and chill and enjoy the view here. It takes another 45 mins to 1 hr to GBB peak.Getting to the peak from Rocky Garden took some time compared to when descending. Most would already feel the strain after the many ups and downs.GBB peak did not have a nice view due to tall trees surrounding the peak. All in took us about 6 hours return. We are regular hikers but still found this trail challenging due to the mud and steep slopes. It's best to hike in the morning because rain is common in late afternoon.Hiking pole is a lifesaver, especially in the mud. Rain jacket, windbreaker, is also useful to protect from the elements. Can get foggy.Trail is quiet during the weekdays. We only saw 5 other hikers.Great hike that is near kl for serious hikers. 😀 - Su Wong
