Kemensah Hiking Trailhead

Jln Tiara Kemensah 3, Taman Tropika Kemensah, 68000 Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

4.0
A beginner level ATV trail, with firm soil but it can be muddy at times. Goes in through the Malaysian rainforest owned by Kebun Che Mah (and I think maintained by them) and has a pretty view. Make sure to bring your mosquito repellent along (so many bloodsuckers along the route where there's the nice canopy). My original plan was to see the Bukit Pau loop, but honestly it was just pretty to look at but too hot to enjoy - though it was just 10am. There's also an entry fee of 5rm. And multiple routes to different things like a waterfall and a camping ground as well. - Apoorva Nair

Kemensah Hiking Trailhead Introduce

For those of us living in Selangor, especially around the Ampang and Kuala Lumpur areas, the desire to escape the urban hustle and immerse ourselves in nature is a common one. Fortunately, just a stone's throw away lies the Kemensah Hiking Trailhead, a well-known and much-loved spot that offers a refreshing respite amidst lush rainforests and scenic landscapes. It’s more than just a place to walk; it’s an entire area that provides various outdoor activities, making it a versatile destination for locals seeking adventure or simply a peaceful communion with nature.

The Kemensah area is renowned for its diverse terrain, catering to different levels of outdoor enthusiasts. From relatively easy paths suitable for families and beginners to more challenging routes, it presents an opportunity for everyone to enjoy Selangor's natural beauty. What truly makes Kemensah special is its blend of accessibility and natural wonder, offering a quick escape from city life without venturing too far.

Many locals frequent this trailhead for its refreshing atmosphere and the chance to engage in activities like hiking, mountain biking, and even ATV riding. The trails, which are sometimes shared with ATV enthusiasts, wind through the Malaysian rainforest, offering picturesque views and a sense of tranquility that’s hard to find in the concrete jungle. The feedback from visitors often highlights the natural beauty and the diverse experiences available, from serene canopy walks to more rugged trails.

It’s important to note that while some parts of the area are naturally preserved, certain sections are maintained by private entities like Kebun Che Mah, adding to the organized aspects of the trails. This collaboration ensures that the trails are generally well-kept, even if they can get muddy after rain, a common occurrence in our tropical climate.

This article will guide you through what makes the Kemensah Hiking Trailhead a suitable and exciting destination for locals in Selangor, covering its location, the activities you can enjoy, notable features, and essential information to plan your visit.

Location and Accessibility

The Kemensah Hiking Trailhead is conveniently located in Ampang, Selangor, making it highly accessible for residents of Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas in Selangor. The specific address is:

Upon arrival, visitors will find parking areas, though some informal parking spots might be available near the trailhead itself. It's often recommended to arrive early, especially on weekends, to secure a convenient parking spot, as the area can get quite popular. The proximity to residential areas and other local amenities in Ampang also adds to its convenience, allowing for a quick stop for refreshments or supplies before or after your hike.

The entrance to some sections of the trail may involve passing through areas managed by entities like Kebun Che Mah, where a nominal entry fee might be collected. This contributes to the maintenance of the trails and amenities within those specific segments.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a natural hiking area, Kemensah Hiking Trailhead itself doesn't typically offer commercial promotions or special offers in the traditional retail sense. The primary "cost" associated with visiting is usually a nominal entry or parking fee. Based on available information, there is generally an entry fee of RM5 per person for some sections or a parking fee of RM5 per car. This fee usually contributes to the maintenance of the trails and facilities within that specific part of the area.

However, visitors might find indirect promotions or related offers from other sources:

  • Local Tour Operators: Adventure and outdoor activity companies in Selangor sometimes offer guided hiking tours or ATV packages in the Kemensah area, which might include group discounts or special bundled rates.
  • ATV Rental Services: Businesses offering ATV rentals in the Kemensah vicinity may have their own promotional packages that combine vehicle rental with access to the trails.
  • Kebun Che Mah: Given that parts of the rainforest are owned and possibly maintained by Kebun Che Mah, they might offer specific packages that include access to their facilities, camping, or other activities on their land. It's advisable to check directly with them for any current offers if you plan to access their specific areas.
  • Outdoor Gear Retailers: Sometimes, local outdoor gear stores might have promotions that coincide with popular hiking seasons, indirectly encouraging visits to places like Kemensah.

For the most current information regarding any applicable fees or related offers, it is recommended to inquire at the trailhead's entry point or check with local recreational businesses operating in the Kemensah area.

Contact Information

As Kemensah Hiking Trailhead is primarily a natural area with various access points and potentially multiple landowners or managing bodies, there isn't a single official "contact number" for the entire hiking area. However, the physical address serves as the primary identifier for its location:

Address: Jln Tiara Kemensah 3, Taman Tropika Kemensah, 68000 Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

For more specific inquiries related to particular sections of the trail, ATV rentals, or facilities like Kebun Che Mah, you might need to seek out contact details for those individual operators. The provided phone number for "Advanco Company (Art & Stationery)" appears to be unrelated to the Kemensah Hiking Trailhead itself and should not be used for inquiries about the hiking area. For the best information about trail conditions, opening hours of specific facilities (like Kebun Che Mah, which was mentioned in a review as owning part of the rainforest), or any informal local services, it's often best to:

  • Check online hiking groups or forums that focus on Selangor trails for recent updates from other hikers.
  • Look for official websites or social media pages of entities like Kebun Che Mah if you plan to visit specific parts of their land.
  • Rely on local signage upon arrival for any operational hours or contact information for onsite staff, if available.

As a general hiking area, direct phone contact for the "Kemensah Hiking Trailhead" is not typically provided.
