The 0 km Limau Kasturi landmark, with its charming elephant fountain, is highly suitable for us locals in Kelantan for several compelling reasons. Firstly, its prime location along Jalan Bertam - Kemubu makes it incredibly accessible, serving as a convenient and visually appealing point of interest during daily commutes or weekend drives. We often appreciate roadside attractions that offer a pleasant break without requiring a significant detour, and this landmark perfectly fits that need. It’s a place where you can easily pull over, stretch your legs, and enjoy a moment of tranquility.
Secondly, the unique aesthetic of the fountain itself is a major draw. The "colorful" pink hues combined with the "gray elephant statues" and the "lovely feeling of the water gushing" create a picturesque scene that's not only enjoyable to behold but also ideal for photography. In an era where visual content is cherished, having such a beautiful and distinct spot for taking pictures adds significant value. It allows us to capture and share moments that celebrate the unique charm of our state. The simplicity of its beauty, as echoed by the "Beautiful!" review, resonates deeply with those who appreciate subtle artistry in public spaces.
Furthermore, its function as a "nice spot to take pictures and rest a bit" caters to both recreational and practical needs. It provides a peaceful interlude, allowing us to unwind and recharge amidst our busy schedules. As a public amenity, it's freely accessible to all, reinforcing its role as an inclusive community asset. While not a large park or a traditional mosque, its quiet elegance and visual appeal contribute positively to the local environment and offer a unique, small-scale attraction that enhances the quality of life for us Kelantan residents, making it a beloved, albeit modest, local landmark.

Feb 10, 2025 · razaksulung JKGKuala Lumpur's Queen Victoria Fountain, located in Dataran Merdeka, is one of the few well-preserved British colonial monuments in Malaysia. The fountain was built in 1904 to commemorate Queen Victoria's 60th anniversary on the throne. All parts were shipped from England and assembled in Kuala Lumpur. It was originally located at Medan Pasar, but was later moved to its current location due to traffic considerations.Designed in Art Nouveau style, the fountain's main body is made of glazed tiles, with green, blue and brown colors symbolizing natural elements. Eight lions and dragon-shaped water-spouting beasts surround it, symbolizing wisdom, loyalty and strength. In the center is an octagonal marble column that supports a five-story basin-shaped structure, with a water outlet at the top. Although small in size, its exquisite carvings and historical significance make it a popular spot for tourists to take photos. The fountain is located near the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and is surrounded by many museums and historical buildings, making it a great place to explore Kuala Lumpur’s colonial history and culture.
May 08, 2025 · HANS XIAThis green fountain was a gift sent to Malaysia from England to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. As with many of the historic sites around Merdeka square it stands as a reminder of the country’s colonial past.
Jul 28, 2024 · Rich LoffmanVintage and beautiful make water fountain, The fountain was sent out from Britain to commemorate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee in 1897.
Mar 19, 2024 · Mun Choon ChanSaw this in Merdeka Sq back in March just before the shutdown. This fountain was assembled in1904, for the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. Never noticed this before until recently, which is not surprising considering it’s below the steps on the east side of the square, where there’s also the more photogenic Sultan Abdul Samad Building. As for the fountain, it’s partly covered in green tiles, so from a distance I thought it was covered in mould. It’s only when you get closer that you see it’s green tiles. The centrepiece of the fountain is a series of dishes above each other and topped with a pipe spewing water into the fountain. I can’t say I admire the aesthetics. The combination of gargoyles and green tiles look like something out of a gothic horror novel.

Mar 03, 2025 · Jan SmithA very original piece that, being a little further away from the rest of the more well-known street art, goes more unnoticed.
Jul 14, 2024 · zcbA contemporary collection of a nation's struggle and perseverance in pursuit of a brighter future.I was very pleased how welcomed I felt when I got there. I've been to their other two galleries last year, and I've been looking forward to visiting this one.Maybe it's just me, but the collection in this gallery doesn't feel as extensive as the other two. But on hindsight, I guess it is due to the dense message each piece carries.I noticed that unlike other Ur-mu art museums, rather than admiring the techniques and mediums used, I spent most of my time digesting the story behind each piece. The entire display is well thought out to ensure that viewers have the time to grasp the content of each piece. They also have a nice rooftop with a small pond and some greens to take a breather.Overall, I enjoyed my visit here. Their collection of pieces here gives me another perspective on art.Like their other museums, you can easily book for available slots on their website before coming here. The website also provides you with some info on how to get to this place.

Oct 08, 2024 · Mun Choon ChanLike many other architectural attractions in Kuala Lumpur, this building also has a so-called Indo-Gothic architecture with very beautiful details and contours that attract most people who see it to stop and take pictures of it. The building appears empty and closed to the public, probably because it is in great need of care in the form of repair and reconstruction.
Feb 06, 2025 · I am QThe Old Supreme Court (Mahkamah Tinggi Lama) in Kuala Lumpur, near Dataran Merdeka, is a historic landmark that deserves better preservation. While its Mughal and Indo-Saracenic architecture once stood proudly, the building now looks rundown and neglected. As a tourist, the only real presence is the informational signboard, which provides some historical context but doesn’t do justice to the site’s significance. Located along the River of Life, it’s worth a quick stop, but it desperately needs restoration and better upkeep. Three stars for history, minus two for neglect.
Feb 21, 2025 · ZashnainThe Old High Court Building in Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful piece of history nestled in the heart of the city. Its colonial architecture, with intricate details and elegant arches, makes the outside area a perfect spot for photography and a peaceful stroll. The blend of heritage and charm makes it a must-see for anyone appreciating historical architecture and a glimpse into Malaysia’s past.

Mar 20, 2025 · Apple LimAttractive train set to be creative.Playground is nice to hangout.Kids can do clay volcano and make it active.Smelling test is good for kids senses. The wall climb is challenging too.Overall, thumbs up!

Apr 27, 2025 · coretanmaslim. comA nice place although a bit small. Went on a weekday and we were the only ones there. There are four floors with different themes: 5th - trains, soft building blocks and a Modleplay play area with climbing wall, 4th - a kids maker space with block play, with a nice weaving area on Mah Meri culture and free art space, 3rd - a nice and comfy mini library featuring a local artist/authors personal collection (my kids enjoyed the comfy reading tent and pillows) with a tiny cafe selling carton drinks and biscuits. We didn’t make it to the 2nd level cos we ran out of time (there are 3 time slots in a day: 10-11.45am, 12pm-1.45pm and 2-3.45pm.)My kids enjoyed themselves and thought the time slot was too short. The highlights for them was the art space, the library and sitting down to for snacks and playing boardgames at the cafe. Some areas for improvement:The entire space was quite small and sparse, although I can see a lot of thought put into it. Some of the toys just looked a bit like old donated toys rather than well-curated ones. My kids also mentioned it seemed more like a play space than a children’s museum (referencing the children’s museum in Singapore which was very educational and fun to play at the same time). More displays and activities like the mah meri weaving and the local art or local history would be way more beneficial. The cafe offerings also can be improved. There is also no parking in the building so you really need to take public transport (nearest station being Masjid Jamek) or park at an expensive private lot nearby, still a walk away.
Mar 19, 2025 · Erin ChongA significant historical landmark, the Old Market Square Clock Tower stands as a reminder of Kuala Lumpur’s colonial past. Built in 1937 to commemorate King George VI’s coronation, the tower has witnessed the city's transformation over the decades. Its architecture reflects the era’s British influence, making it an interesting stop for history enthusiasts. However, the surroundings could be better maintained, as a noticeable number of homeless individuals gather in the area. Despite this, the clock tower remains an important heritage site in the city's landscape.
Mar 16, 2025 · Ken WongThis famous Clock Tower situated in the middle of market square is also featured in the Marvel Studios Thunderbolt 2025 Movie. You can see the scenes comparison in my photos. The area has a place to chill, hangout and take a break from the hectic bustling city of KL.

Dec 30, 2024 · Niyaz JamalThis is an authentic historical place where the old clock tower and this road is a KL central where all the business shop located during old days. Now it is closed for walking street and the historical buildings is in restoration and making effort to beautify the place.I would say job well done to the government for the great awesome efforts.

Not far from Independence Square and Petaling Street.
Feb 06, 2025 · syafiq asyrafAncient one. Do visit during sunsets to witness the lightings. A well maintained place nearby the clock tower river of Life is also there to visit in the evening to witness lightings
May 08, 2025 · Arun ManoharanVisited back in Jan.The Medan Pasar is what used to be the old market square until it was moved to the nearby central market. Nowadays, the square still preserves vestiges of the old market by the concentration of banks surrounding the square. The square is okay for historical reasons and the middle of the square has the Old Market Square Clock Tower landmark of the city. Otherwise there’s not much to see around the square and the shops aren’t all that interesting either. You’ll likely pass the square at some point because of its proximity to Chinatown, Merdeka Square, Masjid Jamek etc and all the attractions around it.

Jul 09, 2024 · Eu Jin AngHad been seeing friends cycling up to Fraser's Hill and wondering what kind of place that is and finally myself was there. From KL taking about 2 hours to reach after passing thru about 50min of jungle road along the hill. The weather is right for me as I am not afraid of cold weather but hot... The thing is I don't like hiking thus Jungle Hike is not for me and other than that it seems like there is not much of the attractions for me at all.Actually, booked a night here but ended decided to leave without staying. Partially is due to the house has no heater thus the whole house is so humid that lying in the bed like just came out from showering all wet.... another reason will be not much of the activities and decent food for me there. So, it is good to experience it once but in near future I don't think I will come as lack of attraction place and decent restaurants.
Apr 07, 2025 · 孤星LoneStarI've visited Fraser Hill nearly 20 times, and it's the perfect short getaway for a quiet, serene retreat from Kuala Lumpur. The winding roads leading up to the hill, whether from Raub, KKB, or the mossy-covered path from The Gap, are always a delight. While the food can be a bit pricey, I understand the logistics of bringing supplies up the hill.As for accommodation, you can generally choose between two categories: value-for-money options and those that are less so.
Dec 10, 2024 · Amir MahmudFraser Hill's most iconic landmark. The entire environment is very European-style, from the building to the phone booth on the roadside. If you have never been to Europe, you can visit here. The best time is in the morning when the weather is cooler. There are many beautiful flowers to see on the roadside, which are suitable for checking in and taking pictures.

Oct 14, 2024 · Mahen (Agent 007)Fraser's Hill is named after Louis James Fraser (1841–1916), a Scottish trader and accountant. After a failed gold mining venture in Australia, he migrated to the Federated Malay States in 1890 looking for a new venture in tin mining. He set up a tin-ore trading post in Tras. As mining activity flourished at the foot of Fraser's Hill, Fraser became a tin merchant and bought crude tin ore from Malay and Chinese miners in Tras and Sempam and used mules to transport the ores to Kuala Kubu. He later recruited guides and coolies and formed an expedition to search the upper ridges for valuable minerals such as gold. The expedition found an ancient forest of moss-draped trees and ferns that resembled prehistoric forests. A cloud layer kept the vegetation constantly moist. At the same time, Fraser found rich tin deposits on the hill and recruited Chinese miners to open a mine known as Pamah Lebar which would later become the current location of Fraser's Hill golf course. A track was then constructed for mules to carry tin ore to The Gap and Kuala Kubu. Fraser then moved his tin ore trading base from Tras to Fraser's Hill. The first mining lease was officially issued to Abu Suradi in November 1899;the last one was issued in 1906 to Robert Lewis and the Sempam Mining Company Limited. However, as the tin ore was depleted quickly by 1913,mining activity declined, and many Chinese miners and farmers moved away from the town.Initially, Fraser was reported as having disappeared in 1910,however, the latest research by R. Hale in 2019 uncovered that he retired from his position and returned to Great Britain in 1910 and died while vacationing in Austria-Hungary in 1916.When C. J. Ferguson-Davie, the bishop of Singapore, attempted to find Fraser in 1917, he was unable to find him. Instead, he discovered the place was suitable for building a hill station as a retreat from the valley's hot climate. He wrote a report to the high commissioner and chief secretary of the Federated Malay States to suggest that a hill station be built at this location.A preliminary topographical survey was drawn up in August 1919, which confirmed the area was a suitable location for a hill station. Later, R.C.M. Kindersley, an unofficial member of the Federal Council, stated that the committee aimed to make the Fraser's Hill area a holiday resort. Construction of Fraser's Hill began in October 1919 when F.W. Mager, Pahang state engineer, surveyed the site for building construction and cleared the land around Fraser's former bungalow to build a road from The Gap to provide access to the hill station. The place was renamed Fraser's Hill and opened to visitors in 1922.On 7 October 1951, during the Malayan Emergency, the British high commissioner in Malaya, Sir Henry Gurney, was assassinated near Fraser's Hill by Communist guerillas.According to Chin Peng, the guerillas, led by Siew Ma, did not plan the assassination. They were unaware that Gurney was a member of the convoy they had ambushed at The Gap. The guerillas were also unaware that the person they had assassinated was Gurney until Radio Malaya announced the news the following day.
Sep 28, 2024 · AFZAAL KHAN NIAZII really love the cool frosty weather here. If you are coming for camping, most of the sites are usually fully booked. There are some restaurants, so food is not a problem. Only thing, there is no petrol station here. So be sure to pump up before coming here. Be sure to drive up before sun down otherwise it is quite unsafe as the road is windy and pitch dark.
Mar 27, 2025 · Dhennver NgFraser's Hill, nestled in Pahang, Malaysia, is a historic hill station named after Louis James Fraser, a Scottish trader. Fraser was an opium and mule trader who established a tin mining business in the late 19th century. After mysteriously disappearing around 1915, the area was rediscovered by British officials, who decided to develop it into a retreat due to its cool climate and scenic beauty. It officially became a hill station in 1922, reminiscent of British colonial hill towns. The Clock Tower, one of Fraser’s Hill's most iconic landmarks, symbolizes the town's colonial charm. Built during the British era, it stands in the town center, surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers. This stone structure, adorned with vines, serves as a focal point for visitors and is the most photographed spot in Fraser's Hill.Nearby, Allan’s Water, originally a reservoir built to supply water to the area, has been transformed into a leisure spot offering paddle boating and a serene environment for relaxation. Another historical structure is the Smokehouse Hotel and Restaurant, a Tudor-style building constructed in 1937. It exudes old-world charm and serves English tea and scones, providing a nostalgic glimpse into colonial lifestyles. For outdoor enthusiasts, Fraser’s Hill boasts well-preserved nature trails like the Bishop Trail, named after Bishop Ferguson-Davie, who was instrumental in advocating for the station's development. These trails not only showcase the area's biodiversity but also connect visitors to its colonial past, as they were initially laid out by British settlers. Finally, Jeriau Waterfall, located about 4 kilometers from the town center, adds to the charm. It was a popular spot among the British for picnics and remains a favorite for families and nature lovers today.Fraser's Hill is more than just a picturesque getaway; it is a living museum of Malaysia's colonial history, seamlessly blending natural beauty with historical significance.

I came for a retreat with office mate. An old bungalow but very well kept and maintained by Mindef. A lady staff look after this place...alone with husband assisting her. A very independent lady with super integrity as nobody to supervise you. The bungalow is fully furnished from its 5 bedroom, kitchen, dining and living hall. Its BBQ place is outside with a proper grill. You just need to bring your own charcoal. Even the TV is functioning. Very nice surroundings. They provide you with towels but you must bring your own soap. Other than that, all is provided. Recommended for a big family stay.

This building originally served as the office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia before relocating to Putrajaya. Today, it stands as a tribute to Malaysia's 7 statesmen. Its architecture is distinctive and appears ahead of its time. It's a great place to visit to learn about the early years of these leaders and their contributions to the nation. However, I was disappointed with how poorly the place was maintained. The air conditioning was turned off, making the air inside stuffy and musty. The interactive LCD screens were all switched off, and the door to Dr. Mahathir's office was locked. Additionally, part of the lower ground display for Tun Temenggung Jugah had severely damaged flooring due to water leakage from the ceiling. This place has so much potential, yet it is terribly mismanaged. The management team should be ashamed of the neglect and lack of upkeep.

Jun 20, 2023 · Paul LeeBoth outdoorsman and ordinary folk alike are proud of our national heritage of unique flora and fauna and intertwining beauty of nature that we are blessed with. However when it comes to venturing into nature’s embrace, the lonely hearted may be dissuaded but with company it is a different matter.Another notable experience was scaling Bukit Takun with a group of youngsters. I was startled by a vertical rock face about 20-30 feet tall confronting us midway. The youngsters scrambled up with ease before lowering a life-saving rope to the ‘jittery’ few below who hung on gingerly as they were pulled up partially. At the peak, we had a bird eye view of the whole of KL and could even see as far as Genting Highlands.

Mar 27, 2024 · Redherring “Redherring”Doing business at Bazar Raya Odeon KL is indeed an experience Kak Sury will never forget. Since March 1, every day from 2pm to 12 midnight, Kak Sury has camped here with many other traders who sell various items for Raya preparations. The atmosphere is lively, people flock to find raya clothes, sweets, and don't forget ready-to-eat dishes for Ramadan and Syawal.Kak Sury's booth is full of Sury Sambal and Sury Beef jerky, and this time there is also Talang Ikan Sambal and Cik Midah's Sambal Shake2 which really attract a lot of attention. It's fun to see old customers coming back, some who have bought at TikTok Shop and some who know from previous events. They not only buy for themselves, but are ready to recommend to friends.Driving in the middle of Kuala Lumpur is really challenging. Sometimes it rains, sometimes it's crowded with people, but all that doesn't discourage us. The satisfaction of seeing customers smile after getting stock of sambal and jerky for Raya. For those who haven't stopped by yet, let's come to Bazar Raya Odeon KL. Kak Sury is here every day until March 30. There is also a RM10 voucher for purchases of RM50 and above. If you come to Jalan TAR, don't forget to stop by.

The entry ticket was RM. 98 per person. They take you to 3 levels, 41 with the bridge (15 mins to look around and take photos), 86 with the observation deck (15 mins) and 83 with souvenir and food shops (no time limit). We didn't buy the tickets online in advance and when we got there first, they were sold out.I recommend buying tickets online on their official website a few days in advance. If you are not able to, then they sell tickets between 8-9 am every morning for the same day. There are long lines and limited tickets, so the sooner you get there the better. We got there at 8:30 and managed to get tickets for the 9:30 entry. When we came down around 10:20, all tickets for the day were sold out.
Jul 17, 2024 · Magdalena Tracz-GanachariVisiting the Petronas Twin Towers was a truly breathtaking experience. We arrived around 6:30 PM, just in time to catch the stunning sunset. The view from the towers is simply spectacular, providing a panoramic perspective of the city that is unmatched.Purchasing tickets online was straightforward and convenient, allowing us to bypass any long queues. The entire visit was well-organized, thanks to the efficient and friendly staff who ensured everything ran smoothly. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to go up to the 86th floor, where the view was even more impressive. Watching the city transition from day to night from such a height was magical.Overall, our visit to the Petronas Twin Towers was unforgettable. It's a must-visit landmark that offers an incredible experience, especially during sunset. Highly recommended!
Jun 08, 2024 · uthum pereraAmazing buildings - the lights are like adding icing to a cake 😀. Make sure to see the light shows and the musical water show at the back. It gets very crowded, therefore plan your visit well.If you are travelling with Grab or a taxi, note that it can take over an hour before they arrive due to the traffic.

Apr 12, 2025 · Yuri3YURThe Old Mosque of Kg Bolok Hilir was built around the 1930s and was run by 6 brothers namely Tok Empat Haji Long, Khatib Bakar Bin Imam Yahya, Haji Jaludin Bin Imam Yahya, Khatib Awang Bin Imam Yahya, Bilal Tahar Bin Kasim and Bilal Ripin .This mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the state of Pahang with a floor area of 30 feet x 30 feet or rectangular and built using chengal type wood, with a zinc roof that is characterized by a five-story roof and a variety of Buah Buton or Roof Crown ornaments are installed at the top the roof.Various Islamic activities have been carried out in this mosque which include congregational prayers, Al-Quran study classes & religious guidance classes. This mosque has not been used since 1963 when a new mosque located nearby was completed.Following that, the Head of Kampung Bolok Hilir representing JKKR Kg Bolok Hilir has handed over this old mosque and its area to be restored & upgraded to maintain it as a heritage mosque. The National Art Gallery through the Welfare, Sports & Recreation Club (KSuRE) with financial allocation from the National Heritage Department and SPAZ Sdn. Bhd. has been involved in making this program a success.Oral sources:Tok Empat Mr. Yahya Bin Saman, Mr. Suhaimi Bin Hj Abdul Rashid, Mr. Mahidin Bin Hj Jaludin (Pak Andak Madin born in 1937), Mr. Nazri Bin Dot

Feb 05, 2025 · ariA secondary hill in Kuala Selangor which was used to be part of Bukit Melawati in the past but was spilt into two due to development occurs in Kuala Selangor. It is also the least visited hill in Kuala Selangor, hence there is lack of maintenance and amenities available in this area, there aren't any cars in the parking, presumably due to lack of promotion. The only thing to see is just go up the staircase and see the hills without any further footpath, that's it. You can't even see the Kuala Selangor downtown from this hill too, only the village instead. Nothing much else nice to see, except to learn the history of this hill with the plaque provided near the entrance staircase.
Mar 22, 2021 · Samson CheongThis is the place where one is looking for some quietness, not overly developed and a little sight seeing..At the estuary, one can witness eagle feeding abt the same time as sunset 🌇.. hv a sumptuous dinner at the numerous seafood restaurants built on stilts along the river, go on a upstream river cruise to watch firefly and .. star gazing into the night.Early morning and one can jog or slow walk up the Malawati hills, enjoy the view up here, the light house and a small museum, silver leaf monkeys are friendly too..Day trip, one can drive further up north to Sekinchang and do activities like padi field tour, traditional bakery outfit, fishing village and handy crafts...

My direct maternal grandfather was born here on 17 March 1935. He grew up in Tanjong Malim, Perak with his 8 siblings in the house behind the sign.As time passed, he got a job with the Singapore Police Force back in the day, a few years after WWII. From humble beginnings as a traffic police officer, he rose up the ranks to become a sharpshooter and personal bodyguard to one of the Singapore ministers. It was also in Singapore where he met my grandmother, a diligent and resilient young nurse in Singapore General Hospital (SGH) at the time. Thus, forming the tale of forever between 'The Protector and The Healer' from 1964 onwards. However 12 years later, an accident befell upon him which left him in critical care and condition...just as he was returning home from work with food for the family. Despite the horrific news, my grandmother with all her strength stepped up as the sole caregiver and became the main parent for their children. The 'Protector and Healer' from that moment onwards. The grit and determination to care for and support him always even though he will never be the same as he once was. Always by his side.Alas, forever permanently took a different turn for the day came when my grandfather took his last breath on 4 November 2003 in SGH. The stated minister above even attended my grandfather's funeral when he passed away. Both my grandfather and grandmother truly a testament to the name Kubu (fort/stronghold/bastion/defence).Fast forward to the present, it was surreal to return for a visit here especially now as an adult during December 2023 compared back when I was a mere pre-schooler in nursery visiting for the very first time. It is still sad to know that my first time here, was also the very last time my grandfather returned home to his birthplace and childhood homeland.Al-Fatihah to both Allahyarham Haji Roslan Bin Ahmad Napis and Allahyarham Hajjah Amnah Binte Harith. May they rest in peace, be united together forever once more and be placed among the pious and highest ranks in Jannah. Amin.

Jan 07, 2025 · Hijau BookValleyWe visited this historical site in Batu Arang. It's the remnants of a coal mining tunnel. The tunnel is quite dark and steep so we didn't venture down. I really do hope that it is properly taken care of. It is worth visiting definitely.
Aug 29, 2023 · Mary SeenA really nice quiet-ish town. If the local council was a little more proactive, they would do more to make the place a go-to-place for cyclist (and maybe even motorcyclist).I visited the old coal mine entrance, it feels like it needs more upkeep. Perhaps if there was better maintenance and will, maybe tours to some parts of the shaft could be conducted safely by former miners or individuals who specialise in such things. The town also has these lovely old brick structures (perhaps old miner’s quarters) and some quaint old restaurants at the roundabout. There is also someone selling wantan mee from their home in the area. I did not try it, perhaps I will in my next trip.

Jan 18, 2025 · Mohammed YassineAbdullah Hukum Heritage was one of the pioneering leader to Malay people at beginning time of Kuala Lumpur. This house was easily 100 over years old.
Jul 02, 2024 · Mun Choon ChanAbdullah Hukum headed one of Kuala Lumpur's early pioneer communities since the mid-18th century, especially for the eastern side of the city, where he opened agricultural activities to feed the growing population as well as other local industries. While the neighbourhood that bears his name has been erased by developers (an "Eco City" now sits on what was Kampung Abdullah Hukum), the LRT/train stations and certain other buildings nearby record "Abdullah Hukum" in their name. This lovely old traditional Malay-style house on stilts, his family's village home, is the least that could be done to retain the area's heritage. :-)

Aug 19, 2024 · S L ChongWe brought a group of students to the Museum of Asian Art at the University of Malaya with the aim of enriching their educational experience. Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. Despite notifying the museum a month in advance, one of the staff members appeared unprepared and displayed an unwelcoming attitude towards our students — which is highly inappropriate in an educational setting. Even more concerning was the poor hygiene at the designated canteen, where rat droppings were clearly visible. As accompanying teachers, we were extremely disheartened by the reception and the condition of the facilities. We sincerely hope that the management will take this feedback seriously and implement immediate improvements.

Mar 30, 2025 · Ashok kumar NandyBest to know about art in old ancient. The lackness that I don't like is the caption of all things there, that they are not in Bahasa Melayu which is to me, it is VERY important to use mother tongue rather than international language that is English. It shows the spiritual of the art in Malaysia. The origin, respect and proud of the history of the art even it coming from another country. The explanation must be in Bahasa first then followed by English. Appreciate our language first by using it generally in everything. Anything else are good. The toilet is really clean and smells good!

Jun 08, 2022 · J Arshraf Sept28This place was part of the Klang Heritage Walk on Saturday, 21 April 2018 with the starting point at Galeri DiRaja Sultan Abdul Aziz. It was just 200 metres from The Klang KTM Commuter Station. A year ago, I was here but it was closed and was told that it was under repair. It remained closed during the Klang Heritage Walk due to serious infestation by termites From the outside, one could see the structure was mainly constructed of timber. The two-storey building was built in 1857 as a warehouse for the storage of tin and a home for Raja Abdullah. It is the oldest Malay building in Selangor. The British then converted the warehouse into government offices in 1874 and the first council meeting of Selangor was held here. In 1880, Gedung Raja Abdullah was turned into a police station and remained so until 1974. The lock-ups, with heavy iron wrought gates, still exist. More recently, the building was turned into a museum in 1985, exhibiting the history of Selangor’s tin mining industry and its role in the development and success of Selangor.
May 02, 2018 · William WongIn 1853, Sultan Mohammed appointed Raja Abdullah, a kinsmen by marriage, to be chief of Klang. Abdullah succeeded in mining tin in the upper reaches of the Klang River. In 1856, he built a 2 storey building in Klang, 'Gedung Raja Abdullah', using it as both house & store. It was modelled after his father's house in Lukut. The gedung/gudang (term probably derived from the Telugu word 'gidangi', or place where goods lie) is a half-brick, half-timber structure with a tiled, hipped roof, in the style of the Anglo-Indian godowns built by the East India Company in the settlement of Penang. It is the oldest Malay building in the state & does not follow the traditional all-timber Malay house style. Raja Abdullah & his family lived on the 1st floor, while the lower floor was used for storing tin, mining implements & supplies. Raja Abdullah lived in the gedung until he left Klang in 1867 during the civil war fought against Raja Mahadi. Peace was restored in 1874 after the British intervened. The building was bought by the colonial government & used by the 1st British Resident as his headquarters & as the state treasury, survey, land & post offices. In the 1880s, the police took it over & they occupied it until 1974. During their tenure, it was altered to it's present form. The most drastic change was to the simple hipped roof, altered to a double-pitch roof with end gables over a clerestorey with a lower peripheral hipped roof. The sturdy brick piers remain from the original, supporting the verandahs on three sides. When is was proposed the building be demolished to make way for police badminton courts, Tan Sri Mubin Sheppard, former district officer of Klang, then a leading figure in Badan Warisan Malaysia (Heritage Of Malaysia Trust), intervened. With the support of the Sultan of Selangor & with the state museum's permission, in 1984 Bad an Warisan Malaysia undertook conservation of Gedung Raja Abdullah, not restoring it to the original design but preserving the form left by the police. Bricked-up arched windows were restored & French tiles of the 1880s were reused on the roof. The state government & the Malaysian Mining Corporation funded the restoration. During restoration, a drawing was uncovered on the upstairs front wall, it showed a paddle-steamer much like S.S. Kimbul, the craft on which Raja Abdullah sailed away with his family when he withdrew from Klang. A display of the history of Klang & of tin-mining in the area was installed for the reopening by the late Sultan of Selangor on 23rd of November 1985 during the sultan's silver jubilee celebrations. The building is now the state museum's Muzium Timah (Tin Museum).

Jan 02, 2024 · boon hoe sohThis historic tunnel was hand-dug by locals using chisels before the arrival of British technology. Located just beside the main road near the hanging bridge, it features two entrances that connect, forming a short passage of less than 30 meters. Unlike deep mining tunnels, this one is spacious, solid, and completely safe, with no hidden holes or complex channels.Things to Note:Bats are present inside – It's safe. Stay calm and move respectfully. Avoid disturbing or harming them.Avoid entry during monsoon or heavy rain – Water levels may rise to knee-deep.Lighting – A phone flashlight can work, but a proper torchlight is recommended for better visibility.
Feb 14, 2025 · Wan Nazirul HafeezThe road is narrow but there are pockets of small spaces that allow for parking at the side. Two of the holes are connected to each other, that tunnel has good ventilation and feels like air-con inside. The ground was a bit slippery and there were wood blocks inside the cave, either to block entry or to hold up the structure. There is another tunnel that seems to go deeper, and has bats. This one is a bit more humid. As we were just using the handphone torch, it's not bright enough to illuminate the dark and long tunnel, so we didn't go too far.Recommended to visit, but we hope more explanations can be provided, and also some sort of parking space can be arranged.

Located below the public community hall, off the crossroad of the police station and wet market. A mural at a open parking lot and two well decorated entrances which will surely catch your eye. Open on weekends, mornings till noonish. I visited on a weekday - and will return again, as they are open on weekends i read from a board outfront.
Feb 18, 2025 · Colin ThongTucked away below ground level, the 1st sign of this place is a mural on the wall. On the left in black & white is a historical representation of the arrival & life of early Chinese settlers in Malaya. On the right in color is current modern buildings.Stepping inside, this is not just another museum. All items are contributed by residents, certain photographs portray locals (some of whose descendants still live in the area!) displaying the rich history of the area's past & evolvement into it's present incarnation.Notable events include Deputy President Richard Nixon & wife's visit, shown in displayed photos. Clean, cool and well kept, there are also areas to take photos/selfies.A fun & educational way to spend a few hours, especially if one is living nearby!

Most of the items are donated here, and you can study a brief history of Sg Way, how they link to the mining site in Sunway... and old history of new village, whereby it is used by British to control Malaya communism.

Oct 04, 2020 · KeatI had a wonderful experience at Teddyman Gallery, thanks to the amazing owner, Teddyman himself. He is incredibly knowledgeable about art and took the time to explain the background and details of each piece in a way that was both engaging and educational. He’s also genuinely helpful and approachable, making the whole experience feel easy and relaxed. What stood out the most was his generosity—he offered a very kind discount without me even asking, which speaks volumes about his character. A truly delightful and easygoing person who clearly loves what he does. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a personal and enjoyable gallery visit! Big ❤️ from not so young or old gurl from Sarawak.

Feb 22, 2019 · Abd Majid Abd RahmanThe first thing I felt at the Banchu Bandamalan New Village Story Museum was the human touch. The curator was friendly and kind. The tourists who came to visit came from different countries. Everyone listened carefully to the stories of Banchu. This is also my first experience with vegetarian cuisine. All the ingredients are freshly grown from the vegetable garden and are natural and pollution-free. It was also the first time I saw the fruit, Trichosanthes, and the first time I tasted Trichosanthes juice, Trichosanthes hotpot, and stir-fried Trichosanthes leaves. Especially the Trichosanthes hot pot was unexpectedly delicious, and the cooked hotpot was delicious. Sweet. There are really a lot of delicious foods around Bancuo, such as flour cakes, shake ice, taro rice, chicken rice, nasi lemak, etc., as well as more than 30 kinds of bak kut tea, each one has a different taste. It’s not easy for Bancuo to get to where it is now. During the epidemic, it relied on online live broadcasts to survive, and it got here step by step.

The 12-metre statue in the shape of a lifted hand in Putrajaya was sponsored by the Qatar government. It weighs 3.2 tonne and is made of anti rust steel from China.“The Hand represented efforts of the international community to come together and work hand-in-hand to fight a common enemy which is corruption,” said Dr Mahathir. The monument was a gift from the Qatar government to the prime minister and the people of Malaysia as special acknowledgement for the strength shown in the fight against corruption. The sculpture is the third anti-corruption monument built as a testament to the fight against corruption. The first sculpture was built in Geneva in 2016 and the second was in Vienna, Austria in 2017.The steel sculpture was designed by Iraqi designer Ahmed Al-bharani. Delivering the same strong message as the previous two awards in Vienna and Geneva, the steel composition of a raised hand signifies the international communities’ efforts to combat corruption and the unwavering strength and resolve of those presently engaged in this fight. The interlinked lines represent a globalised world, united in the fight against corruption, while the see-through construction symbolizes the importance of transparency. The small triangles that intertwine throughout the statue represent each of the countries around the world and how by coming together, positive changes can be made.
Feb 26, 2025 · M E LesteriThe notation on the side says that this is an international award for anti-corruption measures taken in Malaysia. But it is unclear why this particular location was chosen. Maybe someone knows and can write about the choice of location.
Jan 20, 2025 · I am QIt’s nice to know its meaning.
Oct 23, 2023 · Camille Tra Nguyen (Camille)I was looking at it, wondering what it was.Malaysia has an anti-corruption law called the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, which has been in effect since January 1, 2009. Until then, there were only penalty provisions for parties involved in corrupt acts, but in 2018 Article 17 of the MACC Act was amended to add corporate liability provisions related to such parties. This provision has been applied since June 1, 2020. At the time, there were rumors that the law would be postponed due to the pandemic, but it was implemented as scheduled with the aim of further encouraging fair and honest corporate activities by eradicating corruption.

May 10, 2025 · CM TeoIt is so sad to see a magnificent palace falling into a state of despair. The unique architecture, the grandeur of the palace has been sorely neglected. While the grounds were kept pristine with mowed lawns and trimmed bushes, the palace needed a fresh coat of paint, leakages needed to be dealt with, broken window shutters needed to be fixed. I only hope that this building will somehow be brought back to it's former glory or be treated as a National Heritage treasure.

Sep 29, 2020 · S L ChongWent with an organized guided group tour to learn more about the history and operations of [Sime Darby] palm oil plantations in Malaysia. Of course, accent is put on the positive vision of their business. As expected, there was no mention at all of the devastating effects of deforestation for the orang asli native tribes, the loss of habitat for wildlife, the decline of biodiversity... nevertheless well worth the visit. Then, i'd recommend following this well polished tour with a visit to the nearby village of the Mah Meri Tribe. For me, it was a very sad but insightful moment with an unscripted conversation with some of their inhabitants. Got the two sides of the same coin! However, because the way heading to Carey Island will end up using small old roads, so there are many cars outside Carey Island, which will slow down your driving time. Once you enter to Carey Island, you will notice that many plantation lands owned by Sime Darby, and the museum of Plantation is owned by Sime Darby too. In order to reach this museum, once you drive to Carey Island, you have to drive further in to palm oil estate, just follow your GPS directions. Then, you will reach the “Main Gate” of the museum, which is about 10 KM away from the museum, and you will need to go to that “Main Gate” to register. There are police officers at the “Main Gate” area. After that, you just continue driving for about 10 KM, and you will reach the Plantation Museum. Please refer to the detailed photos that I posted here. At the back of the museum, there is a golf club building, in which you can eat nasi lemak breakfast. Anyhow, I encourage you eat something in advance, before going to Carey Island, as it is not easy to find restaurants here. The museum is not big, so you probably just spend about half an hour to one hour here. Right beside that golf clause building, you can see goats, monkeys and some other animals. I believe that this is the only museum which is very close to sea side in Malaysia.

Apr 24, 2023 · Eng HinGuest Bungalow is located on Carey Island, within Sime Darby's private property. The Guest Bungalow was first occupied in 1929 and served as residence initially to the European Office Manager, subsequently the West Estate Senior Engineer thn the Mill Manager of the oil palm estate. The bungalow was left vacant in 2000. The bungalow was restored in 2006 and currently functions as a guesthouse for senior management and guests of Sime Darby Plantation. We visited this historic building and although we could not enter, took many photos of the building as well as the grounds. This bungalow has a lovely brown/yellow colour and has very interesting stonework. It is great that this historic building has been restored and kept in great condition.

VIP Bungalow is located on Carey Island, within Sime Darby's private property. The VIP Bungalow was originally built to house the most senior residential staff of the island's plantations, known as Resident General Manager (RGM) and first occupied in 1926. The bungalow was last occupied in 2001 by the Manager of West Estate. It was subsequently restored and reopened as a guesthouse for senior management and staff of Sime Darby Plantation. We visited this historic building and although we could not enter, took many photos of the building as well as the grounds. This bungalow has a huge and well kept garden. The building is 2 storeys and uses many triangle motifs as ventilation holes. It is great that this historic building has been restored and kept in great condition.

Bicycling is a great way to experience Putrajaya. Anjung floria by jambatan seri saujana, is where this cycle trail starts. There's a large carpark here with rates fixed at RM1 on weekends and public holidays. Weekday rates run hourly. Ammenities here for fine tuning your bicycle, a water cooler for refilling your bottles and a map of course indicating various trail options, a 10km route by the lake being the shortest recommended vs. A 30km route which passes by a dam - what a great way to set out! Google maps for cycling couldn't be activated but we managed anyhows by following the side of the lake, meandering past various construction hoarding with temporary signage put up. Great views and very instagrammable spots if you know how to angle that camera and pose. We opted for Route 1 as first-timers and as i was with young kids on a blistering hot day - we took it easy, made frequent stops and took pictures. The trail led us by Masjid Sultan Mirzan - the steel building, Monumen Alaf Baru - the bronze needle, Jambatan Seri Wawasan - there's a very strategic 'bikers' McDs here and across the bridge towards Jambatan Seri Saujana, more cafe-like food options here but all closed given the 2nd day of Raya. Stair climbing with bicycles needed at both bridges. Kids were happy - can't wait to return to try a longer route!
Apr 01, 2025 · Colin ThongGreat place to ride if you don't want to deal with automotive traffic. Usually a bit busier on the weekends and public holidays and the area at the start of the root has a bunch of space for picnics and other family friendly activities. Lovely place. The full route is quite good. Upkeep and cleanliness is good with public restrooms at regular intervals. Def recommended.
Sep 30, 2023 · ZA NitebugGreat long cycling trail for newbie who wanted to avoid cycling on the highway with traffic.Trails listed on the map ,i took the shortest 10km. Road maintained well, just need to be extra careful on a bit of uneven pavements and drain grill that is dangerous for road bike. Scenic spots along the way with parts shaded by trees. There are lots of arrows showing the way at each intersections. Also will pass by tourist spots like the friendship garden, need to slow down for some tourists taking pictures. Will attempt other trails when im ready!
