Kantan Cottage and Campsite Reviews
Stayed here for one night at Kantan Cabin. Very private and peaceful. Cooking essentials like a stove and dishes are provided. You can grab breakfast to-go from Maklong Kitchen Restaurant. Truly a hidden gem for escaping the hustle of the city."
Nov 05, 2024 · Faisal HamidPeaceful. Quaint. Serene.Sometimes you just need a quiet retreat for a quick getaway in Janda Baik, and Kantan delivers exactly that. This hidden gem is tucked away just a 15-minute drive from the Janda Baik night market. We stayed during the public holidays (3D2N) and chose The Cabin, the newest addition to Kantan, which opened in early 2024. The air-conditioned cabin comfortably fits four people and provided ample space for our family of three—dad, mom, and son. It features two queen mattresses and two single mattresses. The Cabin comes with a mini outdoor wet kitchen equipped with a single gas stove and an electric kettle. If you plan to cook, remember to bring ingredients in proper storage, as the kitchen is outdoors. Be mindful of the occasional stray dog that wandered by during our stay—best to keep an eye on your food.Unlike many places that promise but fail to deliver the soothing sound of a creek at night, Kantan truly offers this peaceful experience. The gentle stream nearby will lull you to sleep. During the day, the creek is clean and perfect for a quick splash with the kids.Kantan also has a charming riverside platform with camping chairs. I started my mornings here with a hot coffee and a good book—pure bliss. The only minor drawback is that the bathroom for The Cabin is not en suite, which some might find a bit inconvenient. Also, the water is naturally sourced and can get slightly murky after rainfall. It’s perfectly fine for showering and washing dishes, but I’d recommend bringing your own drinking water.Overall, we will definitely return when we need another quiet escape to Janda Baik. Highly recommended!
