For locals in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, particularly those residing in Cheras, Bandar Tun Razak, and Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Phraya Thai presents itself as a conveniently located option for a quick Thai meal. Its suitability for locals can be viewed through several lenses, focusing on its accessibility and its position as a casual dining spot within the community.
Firstly, the restaurant's location is a significant advantage. Situated in a well-known commercial area, it's easily reachable for residents in the immediate vicinity and surrounding neighbourhoods. This ease of access, combined with the familiarity of the Cheras district, makes Phraya Thai a practical choice for spontaneous meals or when a craving for Thai food strikes without the need for extensive travel across the city.

Phraya Thai positions itself as a casual dining establishment, which fits the relaxed dining culture often preferred by locals for everyday meals. It’s not positioned as a high-end or formal restaurant, making it an approachable option for a laid-back gathering with friends or family.
However, it is important for locals to set expectations based on available feedback. Some reviews indicate inconsistencies in food quality, with concerns about freshness and authenticity of flavour. This suggests that while it offers convenient Thai food, the "proper Thai food experience" might vary. Despite this, for those seeking an accessible and quick Thai meal in the immediate area, and who are willing to "try it for yourself and see," Phraya Thai remains a readily available option.
In summary, Phraya Thai's primary suitability for locals lies in its convenient location, its casual atmosphere, and its offering of popular Thai dishes for a quick and accessible meal within the Cheras neighbourhood of Kuala Lumpur.

Phraya Thai Reviews
Well well. Ordered fried prawn pineapple rice. The food was oily, they added 3 prawns for namesake. Price is rm17.90. Like really bro? If you're planning to have proper Thai food experience, skip this place. Not recommended 🫸🏼
Apr 20, 2025 · Kay NairReview: Phraya Thai (Visited on 9/6/2025)There weren’t many customers when I visited. The staff were okay, and service was fast, which I appreciated. However, the food quality was mediocre. The pandan chicken tasted like it had been reheated from frozen. It was edible, but didn’t taste fresh. I’ve had much better pandan chicken at Wan Thai in Langkawi. The seafood tom yum was surprisingly sweet, and the prawns were mushy and lacked freshness, again, likely frozen. The papaya salad was decent, but not spicy enough and lacked the authentic Thai flavour I was expecting. In the end, we didn’t finish the food. I'm not sure why this restaurant is rated so highly. Maybe others will have a different experience. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day. Try it for yourself and see. Maybe I was wrong.
Jun 09, 2025 · Yusri YusopWe went for dinner. All food were good, the services also fast. The vibe very chill and they also accept reservation for big family to eat.
May 23, 2025 · nur fazlinHad a wonderful dining experience at Praya Thai Restaurant! I brought my friends to celebrate my bestie’s birthday, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Everyone absolutely loved the food. semua kata sedap! The flavors were authentic and well-balanced, truly a treat for Thai food lovers. One thing to note, though the space is a bit small, so it’s best to reserve in advance if you’re coming with a big group. That said, the cozy ambiance added to the charm. What made it even better was that one of my friends came all the way from JB, and they said it was worth the trip. Definitely recommend this place for any gathering or celebration. Will be coming back for more!
Dec 14, 2024 · Nurul Azrianti AzizDecided to give it a try after seeing the great reviews for this place. But, the food here is a bit of a hit and miss. And they're on the pricier side too.The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is clean. Can get loud when they have a big group inside. Parking is not an issue. But the area here feels a bit dodgy, thought we were in the wrong place when we drove here.Ordered a starter of Miang Kham. Usually the ingredients are all separated for you to assemble. Here they prepared it nicely in a small cup, which is nice. And it tasted fresh and crunchy. The green curry was creamy and tasted nice too. Maybe on the sweeter side, and not fragrant enough. The omelette was very big. Tasted good. Just didn't like how they served it with the fork and knife ON the food. What. The biggest let down is the deep fried squid. I was expecting squid rings, in crunchier batter. But here, they deep fry big chunks of chewy squid, and it is so so bland. Have to eat with chili sauce, otherwise it's like chewing sauceless rice cakes.Overall, more room for improvement on the taste of the food, given that the price is not cheap. But there are some good options and the service is good.
