We understand that choosing the right resort for your precious time off is crucial, and we’re here to give you all the insights you need to consider Coral View Island Resort for your next adventure.
We’ll delve into the specifics that make this resort a popular choice, including its dining options, the natural encounters guests can enjoy, and practical tips for maximizing your stay. While individual experiences can vary, the overall sentiment from many visitors points towards a truly enriching escape at Coral View Island Resort. Let’s explore what makes this resort a top contender for your next island getaway in Terengganu.
Coral View Island Resort is beautifully situated in Daerah Besut, Pulau Perhentian Besar, specifically within the 22300 Teluk Pauh area of Terengganu, Malaysia. This places the resort on Pulau Perhentian Besar, the larger of the two Perhentian Islands, renowned for its more relaxed atmosphere and diverse marine ecosystems.
Access to Pulau Perhentian Besar is exclusively by boat from Kuala Besut Jetty on the mainland. Fast boat transfers typically take around 30 to 45 minutes, offering scenic views as you approach the island. Upon arrival, boats often drop guests directly at the resort's dock or a nearby beach, depending on sea conditions. Coral View Island Resort is uniquely positioned with beaches on both sides, providing guests with multiple options for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the clear waters. One side is noted to be 'Turtle Beach', indicating a prime spot for encountering these gentle creatures. A short walk down a jungle path also leads to another great beach, further expanding guests' choices for relaxation and exploration.
The resort is also conveniently located next to other popular establishments like The Barat hotel and Perhentian Island Resort (PIR), particularly near Teluk Pauh Beach, which is considered one of the best on Perhentian Besar for its white sandy stretches and coral gardens directly in front of the resort. This proximity means that guests have easy access to a wider range of dining options and facilities if they wish to explore beyond the resort. Since there are no cars or roads on Pulau Perhentian, getting around involves walking along jungle paths or taking water taxis (boat taxis) to other bays and beaches around the island. These water taxis are readily available, though their cost can add up if frequently used for longer trips, such as to Long Beach on Perhentian Kecil (costing around RM30 per person for a return trip). The beauty of the location lies in its natural, untouched feel, encouraging guests to embrace the island's serene pace.
Coral View Island Resort offers a comprehensive range of services designed to enhance guests' island experience. These include:
- Accommodation: A variety of room and chalet types are available, including spacious Family Deluxe Garden View rooms, Family Suite Sea View, and Premier Pool Sea View rooms (some with private pools), ensuring options for different group sizes and preferences. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms, clean towels, and daily water.
- Dining: Features an adjacent restaurant (Restaurant Sri Tanjung and Seafood Bunker Restaurant) offering excellent food, including a buffet breakfast with a varied selection (though potentially smaller for European preferences), and a Seafood Terrace with fresh seafood BBQ. Room service is also available.
- Water Activities & Excursions: Direct access to beaches excellent for snorkeling with an abundance of fish, turtles, and baby sharks. The resort facilitates snorkeling trips (often included in packages), scuba diving through an on-site dive centre ('Pro Diver's World'), kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, and fishing trips.
- Guest Services: A 24-hour front desk, daily housekeeping, luggage storage, and laundry services are provided. Helpful staff are available to assist with inquiries and arranging island tours.
- On-site Facilities: Includes a mini mart for essentials, a souvenir/handicraft shop, and a batik shop. A swimming pool is also a feature, though it may be under construction at times.
- Connectivity: Complimentary Wi-Fi is generally available in common areas like the reception and restaurant, though it might be less reliable or unavailable in rooms.
- Payments: The resort and restaurant accept card payments, which is convenient for island guests.
Coral View Island Resort shines with several key features and highlights that make it a highly desirable destination for a Terengganu island getaway:
- Spectacular Location: Positioned in a truly beautiful spot on Pulau Perhentian Besar, the resort is surrounded by stunning beaches on both sides. This includes direct access to a beach teeming with marine life, perfect for snorkeling and observing fish, turtles, and even baby sharks right from the shore. The proximity to 'Turtle Beach' is a major draw.
- Direct Beach Access & Snorkeling: The immediate access to the sea and the rich coral garden in front of the resort means guests can enjoy world-class snorkeling without needing to take a boat trip. Another beautiful white sand beach is also just a short walk away.
- Spacious and Comfortable Rooms: Many reviews highlight the spaciousness and cleanliness of rooms, particularly the family and deluxe options. Features like good air conditioning and multiple bathrooms in larger chalets contribute to a comfortable stay, especially for families. While some older rooms might need maintenance, newer lodges appear to be in better condition.
- Abundant Wildlife Encounters: Being surrounded by jungle, guests frequently encounter native wildlife such as happy squirrels, big lizards, and monkeys, adding to the immersive natural experience.
- Excellent Dining Options: The on-site restaurant receives praise for its excellent food, offering a good selection of dishes and regular fresh fish barbecues. The option to pay by card at the restaurant is a convenient feature for island living.
- Helpful Staff: Guests consistently commend the staff for being very friendly, helpful, and accommodating, often going the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay and assist with tour arrangements.
- Value for Money: Despite some minor maintenance points, many guests feel the resort offers good value for the price, especially considering its prime location and the range of activities available.
- Flexible Payment: The ability to pay by card at the resort and restaurant is a practical advantage on an island where cash might be limited.
It's important to note that while generally well-regarded, some reviews mention potential downsides like inconsistent room maintenance (though issues are often promptly addressed), limited alcohol availability due to employee beliefs, and varied food quality for specific palates (with some finding it poor and mostly fried). Wi-Fi can also be inconsistent and often only available in common areas. Lack of drinking water provision in rooms and no specific beach/pool towels are other points to be aware of.

Coral View Island Resort Reviews
The resort is in a beautiful location, surrounded by beaches on both sides, another great beach is a short walk down the jungle path. Our room/chalet Family room Deluxe garden view was spacious, clean, air conditioning worked great, 2 bathrooms, clean towels and water daily. The resort is surrounded by jungle, we met happy squirrels, big lizards, monkeys every day and it is a few steps from a beautiful beach, the sea is full of fish, turtles, baby sharks. Our whole stay was incredible and we enjoyed it very much. The adjacent restaurant offers excellent food and buffet breakfast, breakfast had a smaller selection for Europeans, but we didn't mind. The guy in the shop was very helpful and I'm sorry we couldn't say goodbye, he had the last day off.You can pay by card at the resort and in the restaurant. We will definitely come back here again. Thank you.
Jun 18, 2025 · Andru SThe hotel uses the dock of the hotel next door, the cheap one. The hotel doesn't have any alcohol due to employee beliefs. The food, in my opinion, was poor, and everything was fried except for the salads. There are two beaches, one of which is the turtle beach. The rooms lack maintenance. In my case, the door to the terrace fell off, and they fixed it immediately, but I had already caught my finger in the door. The hammocks need replacing; they have holes in them. I suppose they're making changes since the lodges below seemed in better condition. Regarding the interior of the room, nothing to report, very nice and cool, everything seemed more or less new, although forget about the TV. They don't have beach and/or pool towels, but they change them when you ask or give you more. For the price, I would definitely stay here again. Of course, be aware that you'll have to leave the island a lot if you want to do more. The trip to Long Beach costs RM30 per person, and the rest costs between RM10 and RM25. So, be sure to consider this carefully, as it's not a big deal; it's totally relaxing.
May 23, 2025 · FERRAN ARIÑOGood location. Very nice beach in front. Just a little far from jetty.Water taxi will drop you at the jetty of the Barat Perhentian. From there you need to walk 3-4 minutes on sand to reach the hotel. If you have heavy belongings, it's better to contact the hotel beforehand to get their help carrying. The rooms are old but maintained. My room's door handles were rusty and the chair on the balcony were not usable. But the view compensated for that. The restaurant's food is expensive but tasty. The food portion is big enough for two.
May 02, 2025 · Md Didarul IslamWe booked the premium seaview deluxe with the pool outside the room. Our kids had a blast w the pool and the beach was right in front so it was so convenient for the kids to play on the beach or in the sea.Location of the resort is very good.Service can be improved as we booked for 5 pax but only given 3 towels n 3 bottles of water. Had to ask a few times for the additional towels n ask again after they clean.Rooms were clean - only thing some pillows were lumpy, and not much hot water to shower. The rooms r more the classic, traditional feel, not the modern type. Food needs alot of improvement.
Jun 07, 2025 · sandraI was worried because I had heard mixed reviews but I don't know what people are talking about. The place is beautiful. I mean really beautiful. Nice rooms right on the beach. Friendly staff, beautiful water.
