While it caters to a high volume of guests and focuses on essential lodging, its unbeatable location often makes it a practical consideration for a quick, activity-filled getaway.
Genting Highlands is a premier hill resort, a favourite destination for families, friends, and individuals seeking thrilling rides, diverse culinary experiences, and lively entertainment. First World Hotel serves as a gateway to this experience, offering a straightforward place to rest after a day of fun. It's important to approach a stay at First World Hotel with realistic expectations; it prioritises capacity and affordability over luxurious amenities or serene privacy. This article will provide you with a factual overview of First World Hotel, drawing from public information and customer feedback, to help you determine if it aligns with your travel style for your next Genting adventure.
---Location and Accessibility
First World Hotel is strategically located at Genting Highlands, 69000 Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. This address places it at the very heart of the Resorts World Genting complex, offering unparalleled accessibility to the area's main attractions. For locals throughout Pahang and beyond, Genting Highlands is a highly familiar and iconic destination, making the hotel incredibly easy to locate.
Access to Genting Highlands is well-established, primarily via the North-South Expressway for those driving from Kuala Lumpur and other parts of Peninsular Malaysia. A popular and scenic way to reach the resort is by taking the Awana Skyway gondola, which offers panoramic views of the rainforest. Once at the peak, First World Hotel is seamlessly integrated into the Resorts World Genting infrastructure. It is directly connected to First World Plaza and SkyAvenue, which house a multitude of retail outlets, restaurants, and entertainment venues, including Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park and Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park. This direct connectivity means guests can walk indoors to most attractions, regardless of the weather.
While parking facilities are extensive within Genting Highlands, they are typically paid. Given the hotel's high occupancy, the sheer volume of people constantly moving through the lobbies and connecting walkways highlights its role as a central accommodation hub. Its prime location is arguably its strongest selling point, providing immediate access to the diverse offerings of Genting Highlands.
---Services Offered
First World Hotel, designed for high-volume accommodation, offers essential services for a comfortable, albeit basic, stay. While specific room amenities can be limited, the hotel provides a range of services within its vast complex:

- Self Check-in Kiosks: To manage the high volume of guests, the hotel heavily relies on self-check-in kiosks, aiming to streamline the check-in process, though peak times can still lead to queues.
- Luggage Services: While guests are generally expected to handle their own luggage, luggage storage facilities are available, and bell counter services for delivery/collection are offered for a fee.
- Dining Options: Multiple on-site eateries, including a Lobby Café serving local favourites, a buffet restaurant (Coffee Terrace), and The Patio Bar and Lounge, provide various dining choices. Vending machines are also available.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi is available in some rooms and common areas, often at an additional charge.

It's important to note that certain amenities like complimentary drinking water, toothbrushes, or extensive toiletries might not be provided in the rooms, and guests are advised to bring their own or purchase them.
---Features / Highlights
First World Hotel's key features and highlights are predominantly driven by its sheer scale and integration into the larger Genting Highlands resort:

---Conclusion: Why This Place Is Suitable for Locals
For residents of Pahang and indeed for any Malaysian planning a trip to the popular Genting Highlands, First World Hotel presents a highly suitable, albeit specific, lodging option. Its primary suitability for locals lies in its unbeatable location and affordability. Genting Highlands is a go-to destination for Malaysians seeking a quick escape to cooler weather and family-friendly entertainment. First World Hotel offers direct, seamless access to the entire Resorts World Genting complex, including the theme parks, shopping malls like SkyAvenue, and numerous dining options. For families, this means less time commuting and more time enjoying the attractions, a crucial factor for a short, activity-packed trip.
While reviews highlight aspects like small room sizes, basic amenities, and potentially long check-in queues, these are often accepted trade-offs for the value and convenience offered. Many local travelers prioritize a budget-friendly bed for the night, especially when the main purpose of their trip is to enjoy the myriad of activities outside the room. The sheer volume of rooms also means it's often easier to secure accommodation here, even during peak seasons, which is a practical consideration for spontaneous trips or large groups.
Furthermore, the lively and bustling atmosphere of First World Hotel and its immediate surroundings aligns with the preferences of many Malaysians who enjoy vibrant, energetic environments during their holidays. It's a place where the focus is firmly on the external experiences that Genting Highlands provides, rather than an introspective, luxurious hotel stay. For locals, First World Hotel serves its purpose as a functional, accessible, and cost-effective base to fully immerse themselves in the excitement of Genting, making it a very practical and popular choice.

First World Hotel Reviews
First World Hotel is known for having the most number of rooms, but that also comes with very small room sizes. The rates are cheap, but just be aware that you’re really just paying for a basic room — no air conditioning, barely any amenities, and the floors don’t feel very secure. It’s a busy hotel, with people constantly going up and down from Resorts World, so don’t expect a peaceful or private stay.If you’re looking for comfort, service, or extra amenities, this is definitely not the place. The only thing you can really enjoy is the mall at Resorts World nearby. That said, it’s okay for a quick overnight stay if you just need a place to sleep while in Genting.
Jun 27, 2025 · Dee Travel StoriesI would not advice my worst enemy to stay here. Being the world's largest hotel is useless if you don't care about your guests.Check-in is a nightmare, you have to queue twice to get a number and then wait for your turn. A family next to us spent 6 hours waiting to check in.There are no bell boys, you have to carry your own luggage to your room. Not what I would expect from a hotel at this price. If you get tower 3 like we did, good luck with the long walk.Rooms are very small and basic. They feel claustrophobic, the window in our room looked at the windows of another tower a few feet away. No natural light. No complimentary drinking water, limited towel service. No iron in the room, you have to walk from tower 3 to tower 2 where they have ironing rooms. My kids felt the hotel spoiled the last leg of their vacation after a nice holiday in Malaysia.
Jun 23, 2025 · Sajjad ParekhThe room itself was clean and comfortable, which I really appreciated. However, the shower head was partially broken, which made it a bit inconvenient to use.The biggest issue I faced was with the room service. Despite putting the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, staff repeatedly knocked and came by, which was quite frustrating and disrupted my rest. I hope the management can look into this and improve the staff training regarding guest privacy.Overall, the stay was okay, but I do hope these issues can be addressed for future guests.
Jun 15, 2025 · Louis LaiHad a very bad experience stay in this hotel. A long queue to check in. We chose non smoking floor but when first opened the room, smelled like cigarettes, also dirty carpet . Then suddenly our card automatically inactivated when we tried to open the room door again, so to change the card we need to went through long queue again.
Jun 21, 2025 · silvi deby indriaSad to see the customer service and machine check in are being ridiculous. My check in had to be waited for an hour after check in kiosk cannot allow me to check in due to poor connection or server traffic, which the check in assistant personally informed that. After second day, the room door cannot opened which made us walked down to checkin machine at the lobby from our room and cannot be open again. When I approached counter staff that told us their service is for platinum customers and reluctantly helped us to make some changes in their system. And they just couldn't be bothered our hassles too.I had been coming this place for more than 2 decades and sad to see this places is falling favours among new generations and I will not be using my money to come back again for staying overnight ...
